I was in Serbia for 3 months from august to november 2008. I still I have no idea why they feel they need to be part of the EU whatsoever, they are more than self sufficient in every way. It was so refreshing to be in a country that wasnt such a controlled society, that the people could do things without government intervention (as in Australia, the most overgoverned nation on earth).Perhaps the NGO's have paid out a lot of money for these politicians not to look elsewhere but the EU.

He addressed the entire conference not as an official but during the dinner event my friend.

When I've attended such events, I have to say that normally comedians address the guests. I suppose he didn't realise that was his role and that Kosovo independence is really a joke.

Oh well, he can always join the circus once he realises.

Tadic addressed the conference last year in the same role as Sejdiu did this year. Now after reading your post I am sure that Serbia is a joke and that Tadic has joined the circus since last year.

PaulUK,

I think that Ireland will approve the Lisbon Treaty in the referendum which will take place in October.

ZK,

I would like to inform you that Romania will join the Schengen Area in 2011 and Romania will adopt the Euro in 2014.

I'm happy to see finally realization that people see the EU as a evolving monstrosity. Europe never learns all ways looking fore some imaginary pie in the sky how many pieces would you like plenty to go around. The price of it will cost you everything!

Mircea,
The EU is a pipe dream to begin with. The idea that all those countries will have the same foreign and economic policy is a joke, and is already falling apart right before our eyes.
Serbia will never, ever, recognize Kosovo, and any Serbian politician who even hints at recognizing that fake, illegal, and immoral 'state' on Serbia's soil will wind up like Djindjic.
That is the truth of the matter, so I don't see the EU letting Serbia in anyway, which I am ok with.
We again will be thorn in the side of the colonialists (Germany), as a free and independent people, who are subservient to nobody, and demand to be treated with respect and as equals. That, Mircea, is what being a Serb is all about, and THAT is what distinguishes us from our neighbours, and that is why we got bombed by this band of immoral and corrupt NATO war criminals.
How many crumbs are they paying you to spread pro-EU propoganda on here anyway? Like I said before, you have no horse in this race, so I really don't see why you would care so much about Serbia's EU policy.

Mircea said "Serbia has no future if she remains outside the EU" That, of course, is ridiculous. There is empirical evidence that countries which participate in the European market without subjecting themselves to the associated regulations of membership are wealthier than full EU members. By the way, we already had a post discussing how we find it troubling that Serbian politicians assumed that outside the EU, Serbia would have less political influence in Europe. www.ambassador-serbia.com/2009/01/27/outside-the-eu-serbia-would-have-less-influence

The EU is a French/German Dictatorship... with the UK having to foot the bill all the time!! it's time the UK got out of the EU... Ireland voted NO to the Lisbon Treaty... yet Germany/France demand a second vote!! That isn't Democracy!! I hope it's a 2nd NO!! The UK can't even get a chance to vote... because our government knows it would be a landslide vote against the Lisbon Treaty... polls reckon 85% +!!!

The EU being part of the Euro-Atlantic alliance is a sinking ship and I doubt Serbia will board it before it goes under. We will send some life boats to our Romanian friends so we can all enjoy a prosperous future out of the EU.

There is no future in a German controlled EU, which resembles more of a dictatorship than an open trading region. I have my doubts the UK will want to remain on board once the ship sinks also.

Mircea, NATO is now the organisation of the unwilling and the EU was once a good idea but has since mutated into a nightmare. I am so glad there are many obstacles in the way of Serbian membership.

Mircea

I am happy that the government of Serbia believes that it is important for Serbia to join the EU.

I have a message for ZK, Dragan and other Serbs who are against EU membership:

Forget about Russia! Serbia has no future if she remains outside the EU.

Croatia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Albania and Bosnia all understand the importance of joining the EU. All of these countries are making progress on the road to the EU.

Dont you think the €U got it by no Jeremic?

Or is it getting harder to convince people that joining the collapsing and crumbeling western "powers" is "the future".

Dream on Jeremic and bon voyage with that sinking colonial war ship...

"According to him, Serbia reacted democratically after Kosovo Albanians unilaterally declared independence, "which was the first time that someone in the Balkans used legal and peaceful means to resolve a dispute". "

If Jeremic defines a "democratic reaction" as one that entails the burning down of customs posts, the storming and burning of embassies, the destruction of restaurants, the shooting and burning of UN police and their vehicles, then yes, it was all very democratic. A bit like democracy under Slobodan Milosevic, in fact.

Adam,
are we one day supposed to see Kosovo as strong as Albania. Do you mean militarily, economically and culturally.

Well, last time i looked Albania was lacking in those departments.

If your answer is yes to the above, then i hope you achieve that prosperity immediately.

''Jeremić said that last year was "very difficult" for Serbia, since there was an attempt of secession of the southern Serbian province, ''

I wrelly like this guy Jeremic. He makes the best comedyshowes ever. You must mean an attempt that succeeded Jeremic ? As you maybee haven't notice Kosovo is reconized by 55 states mostly of them the richest in the world and most Eu-countrys. A union your country want to a member in. How come you talk about Kosovo as a province when a province don't got it's own goverment, police and army. Not to mention flag, constutuion and strong instutuions. A province don't got a President who was the first guest to speac at that confernce. Did you here him represent Kosovo as a independent state ? A Kosovo wich have devolpment so much after the albanians got controll over the territory.

Kosovo one day will be so devolpmend and strong that there wont be any talks of Kosovo joining Serbia. There rather be talks if Kosovo should occupy Serbia.
