Princip 'Its clear that Nikolic accepts DSS is now on the up.'

Your interpretation of Nikolic's view, not his. Its a pity the voters don't agree with your assesment.
Nikolic knows that he can gain votes from DSS supporters which are abandoning that party, as officials have. Its a matter of record that DSS have admitted that party members have left to join other parties.

You can criticise the current government and I'll even agree to some extent, but this isn't the issue. It isn't 'I should choose between Tadic and Kostunica' any more, so if the government performs badly it does not mean votes will go to Kostunica. Trust me when I say that I would gladly cast my vote for Nikolic before Kostunica and don't think for a second I am the only one.

You see Princip no matter how much you slate this government, it does not improve the past and present performance of a man that has been discredited in moderate and right wing circles. As for this loyalty to one leader to the end of his political life thing that you (and others) are showing. Good for you and good for Tito, Milosevic and Draza Mihajlovic supporters who would rather die than question the past actions of their idols. That isn't my way on him, Tadic or anybody else.

chinatown you didn't do a great job in holding my attention with this statement 'Kostinica is the only politician in Serbia that understands how politics works'. His understanding of politics is to reduce his party support to a rump, rather than change his failed policies or retire as leader? Admirable!

When will you guys get it, that even if the current government is bad, it certainly does not make DSS good?

But we can have the debate - the cheated constitution, Jocic's various disasters as police minister, the Kosovo riots, the disasterous EU policies which lost Kostunica support among his moderates (while he thought he would gain votes from SRS), or potentially the greatest rip off in Serbian history - the cut price sale of NIS.

Thats just off the top of my head. Lucky that my memory isn't that bad.

That fact of the matter is bganon (you can cry all you want after this) that Kostunica is the only politician in Serbia that truly understands how politics work and is thus the only man capable of running a country such as Serbia, although completely undeserving considering the manner in which disrespectful people such as yourself (bganon) treat him.

Your truly an odd bunch, who at every opportunity choose to bash the man that steered Serbia away from Milosevic and his communist/socialists the ones that currently make up a portion of your government. And yet the man has been a catastrophic leader? How? Please someone explain to me how so?! I have yet to receive a credible answer from anyone. I'm starting to believe its because people in Serbia have a incredibly shorty memory when it comes to politics. I could write a novel on all the scandals pertaining to certain politicians in the governing coalition today and yet I hear nothing of these scandals simply because these certain individuals are now pro-Europe. Now I don't know about you but there is something terribly wrong with that.

And bganon one more thing, don't think so lowly of DSS for using Nikolic to achieve their goals. I mean the use of one man (a politician at that) to better your interests is nothing compared to use of a whole nation... say with a certain automotive deal?

Bganon,

you seem to have not read the article which was titled;

" Nikolić eager for cooperation with Koštunica "

- dont you comprend who needs who ?

You seem to do nothing on this site but berate all that is associated with DSS - a strong and proud Serbian party that represents first and foremost Serbian soverign, economic and social interest.

Its clear that Nikolic accepts DSS is now on the up. Who can be surprised given the false promises of the coalition centred aound D yeS to all that EU demands. False pomises that are coming home to roost & haunt the cripled Frankenstein Govt (as aptly titled by ZK) which now only deludes itself given the failed Fiat deal and its new promise of money by end of the year despite the agreement being very clear that the money is due now. Yet this is just one of the false promises like so many others that this govt is failing to honour - first to go was abolision of visas by end of 2008 - again this has been put back to end of 2009 now and what of pensions - in reality pensioners have seen a real term decrease as opposed to a 10% increase SPS-PUPS-JS said they demanded as part of their price for coalition.

This govt has failed to keep to any of its promises only this time there will be no scapegoating Kostunica - Tadic and Co. in DS need to look at themselves and their partners very closely for the failures of the govt now and previous govts they were party to in the past and consider if G17 have been a plus or a minus to each and every effort in forming stable and effective govts!

Bganon your political perspective is lost by your own bias and your getting further and further from the poltical reality that will face Serbian electorates. One thing is sure they wont be so keen to believe false promises and failed contracts offered by D yeS to all EU demands at the next election.

Well you guys can cry all you want, but what I stated were facts.

Its a matter of historical record the way that Kostunica and DSS has behaved with regard to its former allies. Its allies that brought the party to power in the first place.

The lowest point of all was when DSS humiliated Nikolic by unseating him as parliamentary speaker. That was a circus event worthy of the radical party.

Happily Nikolic has more integrity than both parties put together with their autocratic leaders.

Serbia requires a Nationalist President.

Just look at Montenegro, Croatia and Slovenia. All those states are fairing well compared to Serbia.

Maybe it's time Serbia follows suit.

Ladies and Gents, I would ignore bganon's unjustified attacks on Vojislav Kostunica. It is a sign of desperation.
As we all know, bganon is a big fan of Ceda Jovanovic. Enough said on that point.

Let's hope that we get sycophants like Tadic and his yellows out of power ASAP, before he sells all of Serbia to Solana for a few euros.

I remember the days when DSS was pretending the illusion of equidistance between DS and SRS. All the time they were moving to the right until it got to the point where they showed their true colours. Then they U turned again stabbing SRS / Nikolic in the back and U turned back to supporting an agreement with SRS.

Now Nikolic is reminding us of what it is to try to carve out a position on the centre right without ideological favourites.

No wonder DSS is scared of Nikolic. But Kostunica is the one who is really scared, he cannot afford to let DSS get too close to SNS, in the event of some form of coalition Nikolic (having more electoral support) will be the leader. As one Belgrade journalist commented Kostunica wants to remain a leader (in true communist style) until he is burried in a coffin. Thus he would rather remain an electoral loser than unite with Nikolic and be the junior partner.

Happy days for the (non cult of personality) principled right in Serbia! The rubbish will be thrown out sooner rather than later.
