"Full cooperation is not Mladić"

Serbia's full cooperation with the Hague Tribunal does not necessarily mean Ratko Mladić's arrest and extradition, says Sweden's foreign minister.

Mr. Bildt can afford such a soft approach to Serbia's attitude towards her own war criminals: he lives only about 1,500 miles away from Belgrade...

Romania began accession negotiations with the EU in 2000 and joined the EU in 2007.

The Russians ruined the economies of the countries of Central and Eastern Europe. russia should be isolated as much as possible.
The EU should support the development of the Nabucco project in order to reduce Europe's dependence on Russian gas.

"Mircea: Please explain how long the accession process took for Romania. Please also state how Romania fully satisfied the Copenhagen rules regarding accession before joining the EU. "
.

Apples and oranges. Look at the map; EU and NATO wanted to block Russia from Europe so they made it easy for Bulgaria and Romania to join. How will Serbia solve Kosova? Serbia doesn't rule it, Albanians want nothing to do with you, so will Serbia start EU talks with OR without Kosova? How can it be part of you if you don't control it?

Mircaea, EU membership has nothing to do with actually meeting membership criteria. It has everything to do with symbolism and sycophancy.

The 2004 Eastward expansion was meant to celebrate 15 years since the start of the fall of communism.

Romania and Bulgaria joined later then the rest because of how far they were behind the Copenhagen criteria, something that still applies today.

The EU has before hinted that the expansion into the rest of the Balkans, Kosovo being an exception, will occur at one time.

Before they hinted that it would be in 2012, to mark 100 years of the first Balkan war. Now they hint at 2014 to mark 100 years of WWI start, probably on the specific date Ferdinand was shot (June 28).

Please also state how Romania fully satisfied the Copenhagen rules regarding accession before joining the EU.

I also still have no answer to a question I posed to you on another post - why do you consistently write any proper noun related to Russia with the first letter in lower case (ie, russia, soviet, stalin, etc) yet always remember to place a capital letter at the start of other proper nouns such as Serbia, America, etc?

If Serbia begins accession negotiations with the EU in 2010, then Serbia will probably join the EU in 2016 or 2017. The accession process usually takes 6-7 years.

Croatia began accession negotiations with the EU in 2005 and will probably join the EU in 2011.

It is nice to see that Carl Bildt has such an balanced picture of the whole Balkan situation. Everything is not black or white, even though Sweden recognized Kosovo.
