When we see the Serbian parliament working, do we think it’s an example of efficiency and effectiveness? When we see the behaviour of many Serbian politicians and officials, do we think that they work extremely hard on behalf of the people they represent? Come on! We all know that things move extremely slowly in Serbia (about as slow as the Belgrade Metro!). We all know that the politicians and the parliament let us all down and hold us all back. Lets stop blaming others for this. The people of Serbia deserve better.

And by the way, the world sees the politicians and parliament so they can judge for themselves.

I think that Montenegro has a better chance of receiving EU candidate status in 2009 than Serbia.

It is a shame that many Serbs on this site do not support EU membership. Many Serbs do not realize that the EU can play an important role in Serbia's economic development.

Why are you trying to hard to sell EU membership to the Serbs?
I really don't think that you care very much what happens to the Serbs, but you do care about what Serbia has to give up in order to get that membership.

Just worry about your Romania and leave Serbia to the Serbs to worry about.

"Dithering". Hey when is Slovenia going to pay back the money it stole from people? "Dithering" indeed. Did Croatia or Slovenia ever get the kind of conditions imposed on it that Serbia has? No, never. Did Croatia have to turn over its war criminals to get the SAA signed? Did Croatia have to jump through any of the hoops Serbia has to in terms of visa regulations? No, never. The problem is not Serbia "dithering", rather it is EU double standards and hypocrisy.

One really does have to wonder how Kacin got into such position.

Nobody would listen to him if he weren't SR, but then he got the post because the Slovenes are supposed to know something about the Balkans.

It is a pity that its representatives (like Rupel and others who are known at home for their exceedingly crass comments) cannot put themselves above pettyness and one-upmanship and actually make a useful contribution.

As for joining the EU, Ro & Bg are proof that anyone can join regardless of the entry criteria if you have the right member states supporting you. Hardly great advertising for the rule of law within the EU

I should also add that Kacin's comments about 'Serbia standing still' fly in direct contradiction to other officials from the EU who have praised Serbia for its progress. One wonders who is the pork pike seller here?

The biggest problem is EU scum making promises and not fulfilling them.

Everyone remembers "As soon as you extradite Milosevic you will get $2 billion in aid" and of course from this year "As soon as you extradite Karadzic you will get visa relaxations and an ufnreezing of the SAA [or at least the economic parts]".

If Serbia is dithering it is the fault of incompetent Brussels bureuctrats who are nothing but liars who expect their sycophants to forget past promises they haven't fulfilled.

But naturally the spineless sycophants in Serbia want do this.

The ultimate solution for Vojvodina is to become a Republic and hava an agreement for a loose confederation with Serbia. I believe it heading exactly there. This will mean the final end of a sate called once Yugoslavia.
