Athens in new threat to Croatian EU hopes

The so called "Macedonian Orthodox Church" is auto-cephalus and not recognizied by the Patriachiate in Instanbul. With the help of the FYROM government, the Serbian Orthodox believers have not been allowed to practice and have been even jailed. (Serbian Orthodox Bishop as been jailed in FYROM)

Further, the so called Montenegrin Orthodox Church is pursuing legal and increasing pressure to the centuries old Serbian Orthodox Chruch in Montenegro. This church will not be recognized by the Patrichiate and nor should it be.

This is a country that wants to convert Serbian churches to Croatian Orthodox churches. If this were to happen, believe me this would cause the largest Balkan War ever.

There are more regressive regions sometimes, like the regions of some ex-eastern, ex-communist states, that are trying to be "westernised" (according to their poor logic) as fast and as hard as they can - not caring about anything.

Like, how can an EU state really agree on putting aggresive US missile systems, that are direclty targeting Russia, the country that the EU is hardly trying to get over with and cooperate? It is trully - but very trully - absurd!

The Balkans truly are the most regressive region of Europe. You'd think the dark ages were over where the state and religion were linked, but I guess with the Balkans it is not the case.

How can an EU state block an EU hopeful over something so stupid as recognition of some church? It is truly absurd!

It is not regression that some nations still have principles and dare to fight for their own interests and their friends.I am personally happy to have two nations on the edge of Europe (the Irish and THe Greek)who care about our heritage and are not brainwashed and remote controlled as opposed to Poland and most of her inhabitants.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with fighting for one's own interests, but please explain how can religion be the reason a country's entry into an economic organization is vetoed? This has nothing to do with Westernization.

We have been through this many times. The missile system is a DEFENSIVE system, not OFFENSIVE. How can a DEFENSIVE system be targetted against Russia? Anyway, the EU cooperates with Russia just fine, if they don't see eye-to-eye over everything, does not mean that it's the EU who does not want to cooperate with Russia. Or can Russia do no wrong for you?
