Your great desire to "help" us.., last few decades, looks like a "mazo"- self destructing plan to me.. ARE YOU BLIND!! DON'T help us, please! With your help we lost so much and you lost EVERYTHING!! Give us a break! Robert Gelbard?? Who's that??! Do you really dream about returning to old "chair"? US can play aside only!! Wake up, analyze, re- analyze, take a look what time it is and where you are- don't be lost in space and time! You spend, already, ALL opportunities to be dominating power on this planet- FOREVER!!

With a pro Serbian presedent in the US, the focus will shift from Kosovo to Serbia. I have come to terms as many Serbs and friends of Serbs have, that for now Kosovo is lost for Serbia. And it will take more then Obama to get Kosovo back, If that were the case. This new administration will be in favor of a prosperous Serbia. A Serbia that will lead the Balkans forward. Reality is that Serbia is going in the right direction and need a frendly hand (Obama) from the US to help them on their way.

my dear k-albanian friends,

your bitterness and hatred doesn´t help you to feed your children or lead a civilized life.

come to reason, better sooner than later, ...otherwise you will stay what you are right now - europe´s backlight.

...it´s obvious that it is not the Serbs here, who are getting excited... =)

Kosovo still is, and very likely will stay serbian territory. deep down inside you know that.

international law will keep everything in the right path until that day.

WOW, no offence but I just read some very funny comments written by serb camp.

Please keep your ties with Russia and don't accept the American help and yeah please get rid of your president Tadic because he's pro western. At the end I wonder who decides, the people or the government?.

the occupiers-on-time are so generous to us, aren´t they?

how about being a hell of a friend and stopping occupation of south-serbia now and not within months by losing face?

from one friend to another: realize your own economic, military and political situation before holding lectures and daydreams!

you stepped back from missile shield in poland & czech republic, you´ll do so with the occupation of south-serbian parts.

pure logic: you lost in iraq, you have to beg russia to wage war in afghanistan, and you gave russia on 17.th february 2008 what yourself couldn´t achieve in 20 years of terrorism, namely a foothold in the balkans and the stop of eu- and nato-integration of the western balkans.

stop being generous and start visiting planet reality …..

Small correction for #7, Jeremy Thorpe: You're right, Mr. Gelbard - Serbia does need help but not the kind of help that you have on offer. Oh, did you mention the bombings? The depleted uranium?

Quick question for #14, pheeze: What would you choose between your country and an ideology? Up to you... folk...

what a greatful occupier-on-time we have, don´t we ?!

but it´s still about the money and russias will to allow america a war in afghanistan.

help us in the best way by acknowledging your own monetary situation and your scarce military- and political abilities: go now in peace, and not in a few months with losing face.

as you already stepped back in the missile-shield-"discussion".

bye-bye to our friends of hearts ....

ps: yes, china and russia are dictating, not canadas southern 3.world neighbour. get used to it!

pps: it was still americas decission about failed indiependence in kosovo that stopped eurointegration of the western balkans and allowed russia within a day, what america couldn´t achieve in 20 years of terrorism: the balkans now is russian backyard, just like schieldless poland & chech republic.

hehehe... Listen, infact i never saw any serbian claiming that serbia is the "most" important country of the western balkans.
It always comes from western politicians, and its not the first time.

Accept the reality and start listening to your balkan masters, serbia.

You talk about manipulation minorities? But only albania have done that, Serbia never did such things.

I think this is an honest offer made by the new US gov't and Serbia should accept, for the sake of its own population.

In the end, it's also an choosing of ideology: western democracy or eastern stage-democracy.

It's up to you, folks!
(pheeze, 29 January 2009 01:48)

If western democracy means amputating a part of your body to join them, then no thanks. The price is too great.
This western democracy sure looks a lot like a dictatorship to me.

"I think that we now have a very good authority there with President Boris Tadić at its head,” Gelbard said,"
He must have been paid quite well to flatter Boris Tadic. What does he think about Kosova's independence from Serbia? A question out of curiosity. The answer will tell a lot...

ben

ben, that's exactly what Albania has been doing to it's neighbors - Serbia, FYROM, CG and Bosnia - destabilizing their minorities.

Who ever thinks with Obama in charge today will make them somehow change their position in the Balkans, are utterly deluded.

“I think that we now have a very good authority there with President Boris Tadić at its head,” Gelbard said....

Yes the yanks have their man in power, this is true. He is very obedient, never has a bad thing to say about people who are trying to steal 15% of Serbia, and does nothing concrete to defend Serbia's territorial integrity except flap his gums every now and then. He is a perfect leader for people like Solana (the 'humanitarian bomber').
Let's hope for new elections soon.

“It is neither Russia, nor India, China or Brazil who can dictate any move on the issue,” he said reminding that both Serbian and Kosovo authorities should start talking to each other as future developments will depend on such an approach. "
(Malsor, 28 January 2009 12:47)"

What a ridiculous statement about Brazil, China etc dictating! The only country that has been dictating the world for the past 2 decades had been the US! And that time has at last come to an end. Now the Yankees are practically banging on Tehran's door for a dialogue and looking for a face saving way out of Iraq.

China and Russia do not need to dictate. They just let their UNSC veto do the talking! Now that's, to paraphrase Mrs Clinton of all people, "smart power"!

ben

The centrality comes from the unconditional alliance with Russia and using the Serbian minorities in the neighbouring country to destabilise them. Something that no other country is doing.

I just wonder how the central importance of Serbia is perceived lets say in Zagreb/Ljubljana??? After the UN membership what do you think how it will be perceived in Prishtina??

Serbia is extremely important country for Serbians. Others are just having their life with much of success: watch Montenegro who applied for EU membership.

At last someone who is talking some sense! Serbia should not forget however that russia has been a true friend not the EU/USA that does not have friends but 'interests', Are they now going to start to pay damages for their illegal bombing in 1999? They'll never be able to pay for the death of civiliams and perhaps the truth will start to come out! Rather than the EU demanding the arrest of Mladic in the Hague perhaps Serbia should demand the arrest of the liars and criminals who bombed them.

Before Serbs get all excited: "Robert Gelbard, currently an advisor to the US presidential hopeful, Barack Obama said Serbia had the possibility to change the situation in Kosovo in its interest but now there is no going back.

“Kosovo is now a sovereign state. The new Serbian government knows that it should live with Kosovo and no matter what, a dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina is necessary,” Gelbard, who represented the US government during the 1998-1999 war in Kosovo, told Voice of America.

“It is neither Russia, nor India, China or Brazil who can dictate any move on the issue,” he said reminding that both Serbian and Kosovo authorities should start talking to each other as future developments will depend on such an approach. "
