Does anyone has any doubts now that Serbia is paradise for criminals?

I wouldn't be surprised if bin Laden is hiding in Serbia.

It seems as if all you need to do to be popular with the radical party is to be accused of crimes of one sort or another.

If Kovacevic thinks that making friends with the radicals will help his court case, he's not exactly very bright. That will probably be why he's with the radicals.

Why do people write fool statements assuming that others won't know the facts. I for one am insulted by this. Dear writer perhaps you should consider writing fiction!

Kovačević seriously embarrassed our country, and cost at least one person his job. He is no hero, he’s a disgrace, he’s a flight risk and should not be allowed to be out on bail.

Seems there’s one rule for the rich elite in Serbia and another rule for the rest of us.

Good one Ratko, keep telling yourself that. I may have issues with some things that Tadic does or with what Kostunica does, but the radicals are a complete joke.

But Kovacevic has been stupid and politicised this case in the Serbian context. He of course deserves a fair trial as anybody should have, but he could have even discussed this with a bus driver who would have told him that making friends with SRS was not clever.

If they make a christmas turkey out of him now he will have nobody to blame but himself.

To the Albanians who posted above:
- Oh please. Stop acting like Albanians do this. There are hudnreds, if not thousands, of cases of Albanians doing the same thign in western Europe. They commit a crime they flee to Kosovo.
- If you read that article you'd know he's on trial for what he did in Serbia.
- The American Justice System considers Serbia an appropriate venue for his trial.
- The America you love refuses to prosecute and extradite it's citizens accused of paedophilia abroad. I hardly see how Serbia compares as a haven for criminals if America protects paedophiles.
- Like he stated "As a citizen of Serbia, I am entitled to have access like any other citizen, I’m just availing myself of that opportunity."
- Furthermore. Given that he is being prosecuted despite initial police reports exonerating him and the fact that the witnesses have changed their stories two times since the initial police reports, why would one want to be tried in such a hostile environment where the media chooses to ignore this fact and instead of assuming innocent until proven guilty they are saying guilty until proven innocent.

I followed this case careful this guy was 6.4ft and 190 pounds and a fellow basketball player! How many US college basketball players do you think can play the game at 135 pounds!? Reading this kind of comments and most of the K-A's makes me sick, when I think that my country is invaded by drugs controlled and distributed but the K-A that came as so called refugees.
For these kind of people the word "coward" is not enough.
I never signed in any political party, now am really considering to sign for the right wing that wants to get ridd of all these fake refugees that are so proud to have stollen a piece of another country but have no guts to return in their wonderland!

Notwithstanding the unfair treatment of Serbs at the Hague Tribunal, the Serbian government should take the high road and follow international law in this case.

The crime was committed in US soil, Kovacevic was studying at a New York University as a guest and student. A US citizen has died and their is no reason why Kovacevic would not get a fair trial in a US court. (This is not Guantanomo Bay)

He should be immediately released to US authorities and tried in the US.

According to witnesses, there was about 12" of difference in height and it seems about 100 pounds. Not even a remotely fair fight in just about any country. As for someone playing basketball at 5'6", cleary you have not ever heard of Muggsy Bogues who was 5'3" and a 1st round draft choice in 1987 for Washington. Anthony Webb was 5'7" and won the slam dunk contest in 1986 at the NBA All Star game. I think Canadian needs better sources...

One more thing, someone please list a link where it says the victim was also on the basketball team. I can't seem to find one anywhere. No mention in reports that he was a basketball player, just a student (accounting major).
