"Italy is biggest champion of Serbia's cause"

Italy is maybe the biggest advocate of Serbian EU integration and will continue to be till the very end, says Italian Ambassador to Belgrade Alessandro Merolla.

Consecutive Italian governments have always spoken with a forked tongue with regards the balkans.

Words are cheap.

They are great friends of Milo Djukanovic, the famous montenegrin smuggler and... PM. What happened to the italian criminal investiagion about him? Ah, nothing, because he is the 'right' person.

Italy was surely a friend when all that stupid talk made the media about wanting to buy Montenegro a few years back.

Italy is surely a champion for Serbia by recognizing Kosovo too.

It would really be quite sad if they actually believe this because nobody else does.

"When might is right, you don't even have to answer for war crimes, like the ones nato pact committed in 99. SHAME!"

The only war crimes was that committed by Arkan and Milosevic thugs against innocent civilians

It was also Italy that was crucial in bombing of Serbia, by allowing all of NATO use of Italian bases, like Aviano.
"Thanks then and now" Gordo?

That’s a very smart and extremely cynical thing to say. and very offensive. but not to worry, we serbs hold a grudge like pros and it’s getting bigger with every cynical remark.

It was the Italian air force who dropped their bombs harmlessly in the Adriatic, rather than on civilians in Belgrade, like the US did. Thanks then and now.

Is this with or without Kosovo?

I don't think there are big plans here - I am Italian - about the question. In the recent past the Italian political elite considered Kosovo secession as unavoidable, in the future who knows. In the meanwhile Italians try to do what attracts them more: businesses (not politics). And Serbs are better business partners than K-Albanian, that's for sure.

Champion all you like about entry into the EU but Serbia needed you to disobey your masters in Washington and not recognize Kosovo.
You failed to be Serbia's champion then. Are you going to accept Serbia entering the EU with Kosovo?
