Maybe Iran is not as bad as we are lead to believe.
(Peggy, 19 January 2009 03:00)

Being the victim of gang rape = you did not care good enough for your morale = you can be sentenced to death.

Just to make sure, you are not virgin - before the execution you will be raped in the prison. Because killed virgins go to heaven and such cannot be tolerated for "criminals".

And of course the process itself (hanging) is not like in "civilized" countries (Singapore or some States in USA), but an archaic (much more painful and slow). More details omitted, but you are welcome to read on Amnesty International, Wikipedia and such.

This all is not from a BDSM phantasy - it's a normal routine in Iran.

Again, your question:

"Maybe Iran is not as bad as we are lead to believe.
(Peggy, 19 January 2009 03:00)"

I think, you can answer it now or if you do not trust me - after some reading. Even if it's half bad than how it's described - it's bad enough.

My verdict: one of the most disgusting regimes. Poses as "democracy" - but the people can elect only from a mullah-approved pool. Fiercely nationalistic, anti-Semitic.

Neither Serbia nor Russia should be proud to be on speaking terms with such regime. But politics is politics.

As one Soviet-Russian politician told about possible friendship between Iran and Soviet Union:

' Упаси Бог от таких "друзей" '

Nothing better could be said.

How can you be happy that an Islamic Republic is on the rise? Should Serbia ally with literally anybody just to be anti-Western? Including radical Islamic countries?
(Peter Sudyka, 18 January 2009 06:07)

Peter, are you that sure that Iran poses a problem to Europe? Just because America says so, it isn't so.

The US and all their western puppets also said that Sadam had WMDs and even tried to link him to 9/11 in order to make him look more savage.
This proved to be complete lies. The US will use propaganda to demonize anyone they can't control. Haven't you realized that already?
I don't put any stock in what I read in the western media about other countries any more. I have seen how much the media enables propaganda to flourish in order to make the US happy.

Maybe Iran is not as bad as we are lead to believe. Who are they actually threatening, while the US is threatening just about anyone who won't submit to them. Now who is fundamentalist and who is not?

The old wisdom is:
"an enemy of my enemy could be a bigger enemy of myself". Applies to Iranian government perfectly.

Who cheer this kind of relationship: the Hungarian "Jobbik" maybe should be your friend, they do like ahmedanijad.

Too bad, they like Vojvodina, as well - a certain way you won't likely agree with "Jobbik".

Canadian,
You know if you build a wall between yourself and your perceived enemies, you had better have a lot of faith in those that are behind that wall with you.
Simply because Iran, Venezuela and others are anti-American does not mean they are people Serbia should be aligning with.

This is a very good move. Russia has good ties with Iran and so should Serbia. The old empire is going down and Serbia is foresighted by making early ties with the new superpowers that will take over when the British-American empire fades away.
