I think that thinking that Kosovo will go back under Serbia is an idiotic idea, but thinking that kosovo is an independent country is another idiotic idea. Kosovars should work their sweats out to show that they can run a country which sadly they are not yet doing rather they are so much after their personal lives whch serbs are not, otherwise Kosovo is going to be a black spot so is up to us Kosovars, Serbia can not stop us and is not stoping us, we are not doing enought, God Bless Kosovo and Kosovars.

as for italian mafia, i can tell you that at least they provide us with constant energy supply 24 hours, not the same as KEK can provide in Kosovo. regarding criminality linked to government, well, that is very simple, ceku, thaci and haradinaj families are a clear example of the existing links; and one more thing; i speak and i tell these things because i have a very detailed knowledge of what i talk about, since i lived three years in kosovo after the bombing andi was working for a security force there; ......you speak of italian mafia, well we have mafia but we have also a lot of interesting things to show to the world, to export, like clothing, like kitchen...what do you show to the world?....remember also we have hosted millions of albanians after the 1997 collapse of the country, showing we are tolerant.....

Putting KLA in charge is not going to end well.
They will be armed a bit but no Serbs is going to feel comfortable having KLA in charge.

Surely they could've found new blood and not the terrorists to run the show.

This will not end well.

Gojko,

This is what happens when a conflict is 'frozen'. military intervention and multi-national protectorate forces can tone down the conflict but they cannot stop it. Both sides still want to win and it will not end until there is a winner.

You are right though. Who cares? The Serbs and the ethnic Albanians. So why does everyone else feel that they need to be involved?

How very fortunate the United States is that no UN or NATO existed during our revolution against the English or worse during our Civil War. Could you imagine what the United States would be like if no one had won the Civil War ending instead with a militarily imposed peace by foreign super powers?

Comments from both sides (Serbs and Albos) are soooo repetitive.

This message board is just like the relationship between Pristina and Belgrade. No one has an open mind and talks get no where. Do posters on this website really believe they will change the views and ideas from the other side?

Who really cares anyway? When we die it will not matter who "owns" Kosovo.

This proposal of Kosovo security forces is just a ploy as there is no true backbone in anything announced by the government. Just waiting for the "media" to announce the Greater Republic of Albania - something that was denied all along.

Massimo why you ironise with how I call areas in my country??? Should people be free to call their village as they wish or as historically was if 9 out of 10 agree in that????

How did you manage to link security forces with corruption and economic problems is beyond my intelectual capability to comprehend.

Corruption is something that you are very familiar since your name is not really Swedish.

Max you are there in KosovAAAAA becaouse there was a WAR there (if you didn't know) not because it is a touristic attraction – with all what that means i.e. > 120,000 houses destroyed leaving more than 800,000 people wihtout any elementary need. They build their houses with their own hands did not wait for any help from outside. Go and see other post- conflictual areas- not only in ex Yugo you will not find the same stroy.

How many bilions of € the south Italy has got from EU for decades and compare it with post war KosovAAAAA if you like.

Newsflash Mr. Ivanovic: NATO WILL TRAIN them to be an Army. That's NATO's declared objective. The USA and Germany, and Turkey, three very important NATO countries, have openly declared that they will sell modern weaponry and equipment to the KSF Force. Quit trying to intimidate your people and spread fear. KSF will be an Army for all Kosovars....except those like you who are dead set on causing unnecessary tension!
(Sidi, 17 January 2009 15:55)

another brilliant comment from team albos. Your pathetic leaders spread fear and intimidation into your people to cause problems. You already had an army for all and then you and your people went on to cause unnecessary tension. maybe if your people could have behaved like normal citizens there would be no need for more weapons coming into Serbia's southern province.

Military balance will bring peace. Thought, hard to consier balance 2,500 lightly armed people.

In any case the hot heads in Belgrade will think twice since better situation to excrecise force for them than the 1997-1999 when they had regular army trained and equiped for 60 years that was fighting with self-organized farmers they will never have.

I have a feeling these so-called security forces will have a role to protect the so-called Albanian politicians (aka criminals and terrorists) against the people after they realise independence is never going to happen and they've all been duped.

"Speaking from experience, I am almost certain that it will be very difficult to control these armed forces. The Serb community's position will depend on how strictly NATO monitors their behavior and makes sure that they in no way look like any kind of an army,"

This Ivanovic character is funny. He thinks NATO and Kosova cares what he thinks. It's not a full fledged army yet but it will be trained per NATO specs, no tanks or planes but everything else. 5% of the population doesn't like it? Too bad. Soon it will be 5000 and by the time KFOR leaves it will be 7000 and an Albanian (from Albania) brigade on standby
