“Health service corruption exaggerated”

Health Minister Tomica Milosavljević told B92 last night that corruption is not a mass phenomenon in the Serbian health system and among doctors.

I am not a Serb, I don't live in Serbia but I can tell you stories of corruption within the Serbian health system...so what planet does your health minister live on?

This is just a typical politician playing with the facts. Maybe the problem is not as widespread if you only include the doctors that explicitly ask for money, but how many have accepted gift from patients and in return acted more favorably towards patients. There needs to be a ban on all forms of gift and return of favors. My experience has been that unless you bring gift to nurses and doctors you are treated as second class. Quite shamefull really.
