unfortunately America is involved in most countries business and usually at the expense of the country with less money to buy us or our media. But keep this in mind... although our politics have made you the underdog, as time goes by more and more Americans here in Kosovo have truly seen how the Serbian people are and have come to truly appreciate Serbs as a honest and respectful people. Trust me if the whole of America knew what we knew then events would shift. But the CIA employs 30% of the worlds media... so money talks... sad but true...

Being realistic the actual Kosovo's independece isn't the independence Kosovars wanted. Unfortunatly, I have to agree with the Serbs on this article. First of all the actual Kosovo flag has more resemblance colorwise with the serbian flag then with that of the albanian one.
Serbs by far have a lot more rights as a minority in Kosovo then the majority itself. My opinion is that the actual republic of Kosovo according to Ahtissari plan sounds more like the serbian republic of Kosovo then albanian. Serbs don't have to be afraid of this kind of independence because to them is freedom.
As for the albanians the actual independence of Ahtissari means dependence not only on Serbia but the entire world.

Who enforces the law up north? Definitely not Pristina as far as the K-Serbs there are concerned.

Notice how the EU stooge is now defending Serbia. It look like EU finally realized that Kosovo is province of Serbia. EU insiders now admit that they are stuck in Kosovo.

Last time I checked 1244 is still in place,EULEX is included in 1244 so I don`t see whats wrong with that.
Kosovo province is still de jure part of Serbia, with UN veto guaranteed by Russia and China and Nato,EU veto guaranteed by Spain and Romania.

Ron

EULEX is not allowed to refer to Serbia as being a neighbour of Kosovo.

The UN should not allow this. As UNMIK is in control.

Can someone brief this to the UN?

If we stand together (Serbs, Albanians, international community) we can stop this disaster of UDI.

Hey, finally justice will be done: a mutual agreed deal.

lowe,
I find your comment great progress from a few months ago.
You seem to think that the restrictions on the armed forces are a big insult. But look at it this way.
1. Kosovo is too small to ever truly defend itself from a huge assault from neighboring countries.
2. If NATO is to remain in accordance to 1244 then there has to be some type of insurance of non competition between the Kosovo Forces and NATO.
3. With NATO as security there is no chance any country is going to launch a serious assault on Kosovo, because that would be seen as an assault on all NATO countries, so there is not a need for development of a full fledged armed forces at this time.
4 Post WW2 Japan had many restrictions placed on its development of armed forces which remain today, yet Japan is one of the most powerful countries in the world, just not in military strength.
As far as a UN member, who knows what the future will bring as new developments take place.

Raving about how 'great success' deployment of EULEX is..can maybe impress some officials in Brussels but in fact it is phony and misguiding beaurocratic language. It's an feel-good movie featuring EU wishful thinking.
Sorry to spoil your festive mood dear K-Albos- but for some your 'independence' actually means occupation.
You'll be independent if: NATO is gone (and you are still in one piece), you are in the UN and Serbia recognizes you.
Until then it is just words.

Before the usual suspects jump for joy at the slightest inkling that everyone but the people in the Kosovo government are guaranteeing this supposed "independence", let's not forget that "EULEX throughout Kosovo" was agreed upon with Belgrade as a "status neutral" entity. That means that Kosovo's executive authority passes to EULEX which governs it as an international protectorate. One cannot have every type of organization from EULEX to the League of Women Voters running the territory and then go an boast that Kosovo is anything closely resembling "free" and "independent". If "independent from the direct rule of Belgrade" is what many have in mind, then they may be right, but only for Albanian sectors. So Feith is going to praise this event as a proverbial "turning point", but see how fast he's going to respond in extending the hand of Pristina north of the Ibar and into the enclaves.

Not only is Kosovo administratively partitioned, I have never been more convinced it's an international protectorate, and will continue to be so for the indefinite future.

To be "free" "sovereign" and "independent", a state requires the absence of internationally controlled politics, economics, and security. Montenegro is independent. Kosovo is not.

I think you are going to see more and more of this type of reports. Notice no mention of UNMIK, down playing of the friction of Serbia and Kosovo, references to Serbia as a neighbor of Kosovo.
But before it is said we already know UNMIK is in total control--the fact that there is nothing coming out of the UNMIK office, they are making no decisions, and their role has become more of a pacifier for the Serbian politicians is of no consequence.

Dear Serbs,

We are in point of NO RETURN anymore. Nobody can undermine Kosovo's soverignty and terrriotorial integrity.

Remember Kosovo is indepedent. There is nothing Serbian to suggest that they any control in the Republic of Kosovo. Formation of the Kosovo army is the LAST nail in the coffin of old Serbian lies/propaganda, that all the region and world wants to finally bury.

Thanky Mr. de Kermabon for waking up Serbian government, however, nevertheless, they often see dreams with eyes open.
