U.S. President-elect Barack Obama said on January 9 he views Iran as a "genuine threat" but still favors initiating a dialogue with the Islamic republic.

With less than 20% of the US now supporting the war in Iraq, I think you will see a difference in the use of force by the US in the immediate future.
Iran is a very low level threat to the US and without some type of actual aggression against US, their allies or intereest, there is very little chance of winning support for a military offensive.

Read in between the lines. This is a climbdown which ever way Americans try to spin a gloss over it.

Obviously Obama has more sense to see the writing on the wall than the outgoing administration.
