It was a honest robber who honestly wanted free money. Much better than the infamous bank "robbery" in Mór (Hungary) where everyone who did see it was killed.

At first (of course!) some "Yugoslav" robbers (Serbs, Albanians, Croats - you name them) were suspected, but it turned out to be a hoax. Than every suspect who was under investigation died very mysteriously. Still, no one knows what was really behind the scene. There is a suspect, the real target was not the money but some documents in the safe compromising the then-PM viktor orbán (all small letters). I wouldn't be surprised...

It's still very silent about Mór and I bet, no one will ever know for sure. I don't like that "suicide"... Gang-killing eight people and robbing a bank of €28700 will yield you in Hungary what? 20 years at max. It's a holiday for such crime. Try it in Singapore and the verdict will be 6 feet of rope. Not that I want Singapore laws to be in Serbia+Kosovo or Hungary. But there should be somewhat in the middle.

Russia is fine, there the verdict will be 25 years of hard labor. Some would argue, 6 feet of rope are essentially a clemency compared with 25 years hard labor in a coal mine around Vorkuta.
