'Why are you falling for this propaganda that Russia is to blame?Because CNN says so?'

CG don't discredit yourself by attributing something to me that I never said.

I'm not interested in excuses, or who is to blame.

Don't mind Serbs who are freezing in thier homes, just keep looking at the US and obsessing about CNN. I have news for you, this is about the delivery of gas to Serbia - that is real people btw. Sorry if that isn't sexy enough for you!

You mention NIS - Tell me what will happen - if the south stream pipeline is built and Bulgaria does not pay its bills, where will that leave Serbia? Great huh? Oh and as far as gas supplies are concerned (the issue here) if you support the Russian stance on NIS rather than the Serbian one, Serbia will have no gas storage centre at Banatski Dvor.

Yeah its always the same with supporters of the NIS deal - they invariably know nothing about the details, its just a case of choosing Russia over the US right?

Raso,
I am a little curious about your comment. Russia cuts off gas supply for 2 days, and in some way that implies that the US has let people down.
So far I have not seen where 1 country has asked for any US intervention. It is a little early to call it any type of humanitarian crisis.
And most of all Serbia has made it very clear that Russia is going to take care of them.

Why are you falling for this propaganda that Russia is to blame?Because CNN says so?
In my view the Americans play a role here(as in Georgia) stirring up trouble via its proxy Yushchenko who is stealing gas in the middle of the winter and doesn`t want to pay the bill and then Russia is portrayed as usually by some Western propaganda as the country upon which we can`t rely on.
If anything this crisis will have the positive affect that the Nort and Southstream Gaspipeline will be built faster than anticipated.
I think it was wise to sell NIS to the Russians.

only a pair of chopsticks. It's the only thing Russians are afraid of. But REALLY afraid - and it's well-justified.

I repeat, russian aren't saints and I have quiet a good experience in dealing with them because I was working in Russia for 6 years, but they can't be blame for all what is happening in the world!!
(The Swiss, 7 January 2009 17:13)

Haha, I was actually born there. Of course, it's not right to blame Russians for everything, the truth is, the West did screw up things mightly after Perestroika. But my list about what is wrong in Russia is still very long. Unfortunately I am with it like Cyrano with his hose: I don't allow outsider critics. Here I have double standards: "Quod licet Jovi non licet bovi".

Speaking about Hungary: no wonder, Serbs were refused. I am in Hungary right now and the situation is pretty tough here:

- Suzuki car factor was shut down till gas is back to normal or at least till next week
- The Auchan Pilis supermarket may shut down in few days (very bad for us) till the gas situation does not improve.

So Serbia (a gas-beggar) wanted to borrow money from a gas-pariah (Hungary). No chance, sorry.

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY !
Wish you to have warm houses as soon as possible ! There’s no sense blaming Russia of everything we all dislike. Should EU refuse from it’s double standards earlier the current crisis could hardly take place. They supported the Barbarian attack of Georgia with the Ukraine to sponsor the aggressor by supplying FREE OF CHARGE armaments cost 2,2 Bln. Now this money is lacking and they have nothing to pay for the gas. So they made EU states as hostages of their idiotic policies.
Russia has closed the cranes only 18 hours after Ukraine had turned all the gas to it’s internal market. So no matter if you like Russia or not today we are in one boat and we have to cooperate. When the crisis is over you will tell us how dead wrong we are in everything we do and how disgusting we and our children and our parents and our whole useless life are ! But right now let’s just solve the problem.
All said above has nothing to do with my Serbian brothers whom I love all including those who usually sit’s silent but now unmasked themselves with their pro-Albanian viewing of Russia. Merry Christmas to all of you ! Nothing on the Earth can defeat us !

Its pretty simple as far as I'm concerned I pay my bills, Serbia imports gas from Russia and pays its bills.

Its upto the Serbian and Russian government to keep their legal committment to me and millions of other law abiding householders in Serbia.

I don't give a damn about the diversionary tactics of 'they are to blame'. The point is 'deliver the gas'.

And it makes one wonder about pipelines at all. It only takes one country to pull the plug and we are all cut off. I think that the building of a gas storage facility at Banatski Dvor has an even better reason to be built now.

Merry christmas to everbody celebrating, lets hope that the Russians and Ukranians don't forget about christian values in this time of cold.

For the pro and contra Russians, an answer that I gave yesterday to Tricky with some facts.
Yes, Bob, u're right alternative energy have to be found, but as always too little too late....and as always Europe is sleeping!!!

This morning, Christmas Day of all days, Gazprom cut off ALL supplies through Ukraine. They say Naftogaz shut the pipes. The trouble is, The pipes were turned off on Russian soil. How did the Ukrainians manage to do that?
(Tricky Dicky, 7 January 2009 14:03)

It's good that you mentionned that the middleman is 50% own by Gazprom, as a matter of fact, this company is registered in Switzerland,so easy to check it

http://www.rosukrenergo.ch/eng/pub/company/company_history.html

... since you seemed to be well aware, do you know how is the second shareholder?? An "hidden" Ukrainian oligarch, so now the question is to find on which side this oligarch is standing....., you might dispute the fact that Ukraina didn't pay the full bills, mainly the penalty, ok, but you can't certainly deny the fact that until 31st of december there wasn't any shortage in the pipeline and Gazprom warned Ukraine many times that a new contract need to be signed. You can't also deny the fact that Ukraina refuses to pay $ 250 whereas Europe is paying $ 500! This is their absolute right but then they should source it elsewhere and let the gaz going thru to Europe.
Unfortunately Europe is as always sleeping and wake up when the things are out of hand!
The north Stream as pushed for by Gazprom and Germany has still not started for environmental reasons, but fortunately soon to kick off

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=nordstream

Let's see then how Ukraina will play once they are alternative routes...

Interesting that posters here very much support the position of Russia in cutting off gas supplies to Ukraine and to Europe over dispute of unpaid bills.
However when it is mentioned the possibility of cutting off electricity to the Serbians in Kosovo for non payment since 1999, it is the most inhuman thing imaginable. Eventhough that is what is happening to the Albanian neighbors throughout Kosovo.

Bob

Russia cannot be trusted to maintain energy supply at the time when it is most needed - governments need to show much more determination to develop their own energy sources.

There is a lot of investment being made to keep the western economies moving - more of this should be directed towards developing sustainable and independent energy.
