So EULUX and KFOR will step up the presence in north Mitrovica? I guess that means that there will be more French soldiers in the coffee bars (in their finely tailored camouflage uniforms of course) in King Peter Street during the day and more Gendarmes at Ex-Ponto in Zvecan at the weekend! Oh and don’t forget static observations from the coffee shop opposite the bridge in the North!

Oh my...

This "military analyst" seems to be quite the alarmist. You'd think a war had exploded.

Maybe he needs to refine his skills, like the Serb ambassadors who were recalled from around the world did.

Gezim Disha, thank you for that "history" lesson. It was so innacurate.

You see, there are NO Serbian leaders waiting to got to Hague. Please name some if you know of any.

However, Kosovo leaders are war criminals and they will eventually answer for their crimes. Whether in be in Hague or in a Serbian court.

D. D.,

I fully agree. Let's live together in one country. And that country is Serbia!

It is NOT about ethnicity but you guys in the Balkan seem to forget that so often...

Wish everyone a peaceful 2009!
Hope Serbia will head to EU. And hope Kosovo will accept the fact that they are just a Serbian province!

EULEX will continue to patrol and implement its mandate, that includes leading, monitoring... Well said! As always the brave EU will monitor! bring the sweeds , they are the best in monitoring or germans , they can give a hand to UCK...and later Haradinaj, Thaci will establish a real everlasting peace! They have such an experience to do it...

When Milosevic’s Serbia realised that the demolition of Yugoslavia was inevitable, it tried to grab as many territories as it could by going to war with their neighbouring republics.
It failed miserably. Milosevic died in a cell and the rest of the Serbian leaders at the time are either in prison or on the way to.
Now that the “democratic” Serbia has come to realise that Kosovo is gone, unable to go to war, by all diplomatic propagandistic and destructive actions available, with no intentions at the wellbeing of Serbs in Kosovo, is trying to grab as much land as it can from Kosovo.

Hajduk,
Kosovo is Serbian. Albanian immigrants and native Albanians are welcomed to stay if they wish to follow rule of law.

Well this sort of plays well into the plans of EULEX to more heavily deploy in the northern areas of Kosovo, especially Mitrovica. At least it plays well, unless they are effective in preventing major escalation of incidents.

These incidents, knowingly or unwittingly, started by the Serbian arrests in the valley and the ensuing incidents, do in fact give EULEX and NATO a stronger stronghold and a legitimate heavy presence om the north of Kosovo.

If I was a conspiracy theorist I would be tempted to say that these whole process was orchestrated by EULEX(and different secret services) perhaps in tandem with Tadic given the fact that at this particular time he gave the most provocative remarks about Kosovo as well, like trying to fend off suspicion.

GEEZ!!! I still don't think the EU realizes what it has agreed to with allowing the US to recognize the Serbian province as independent.

Regrets and recalls are difficult, politically speaking. Eating crow is not what any of these governments do easily.

Its only one capital to be blamed and that my friend is Belgrade. The sooner they start treating its southern neighbor (Kosova) and the majority living there with a bit of respect, everything will eventually calm down.

Situation in north wil no be rest till serbian goverment stops getting involved, and lets serbs and K-albanian to live together,IN REPUBLIC OF KOSOVA- like other countries (it cant be one country, two systems)_ and stops makeing arrests in presheva(they are just looking for trubles)
