To Jack, usa,
Albanians are ethnicly cleansing Serb civilians from Kosovo&Metohija, so it is our concern to protect civilans in our own south province.Thath is duty of every country. Why U, americans, dont raise your voice now if U relly care for human rights as U say.
Probably U R to busy bombing civilians in other countries. Why dont U read history and U will find out more about genocide on Serbs in ww2 by albanians, 1915(march of death through Albania)1878-1912 terror,15th century cleansing Serbs by ottoman Turks and Albanians, KLA crimes etc.

Both sides are playing like a mad kids, this news has nothing to do with Kosova/o status nor should you waste time talking silly about it.
No matter how mad you are the reality on the ground is the way it is. And for the news about murder in Prishtina, I dont think that should be on a front page in a "national media" such B92 because they are local medias who take care of small crimes, and i belive in a city such as Belgrade there are much more killings for a night then any other city in the Ballkans. I do not think media in the Ballkans are helping Democracy or multiethnicity, they seem more like a Middle East or Rusian medias, except they pretend to be free and Democratic.

NOOOO!!! Poor comment (or bad joke), Goran, sorry. As much as I disagree with Roberto on most things, this is just a disagreement. Being shot for having a different opinion was practiced in some infamous places, feel free to name a few.

Otherwise Roberto here is right: the level of crime in the Bay Area with sole exception of East Palo Alto is low. In some areas it is practically non-existing - and local newspapers usually report break-ins and car theft if it does happen.

The bad image of the country (USA) is due some areas in Los Angeles, Detroit, Miami. There only the worst cases are being reported, to much of "small" ones.

The crime "capital" of "Western" world (I include all Balkans and all ex-USSR to the word "Western") is probably Tijuna, Mexico. But it is not widely known. Practically, you can't drive (good chance to be stopped, robbed, killed, raped by Mexican police) there. As for walking... many people do, it's not very safe either. Still, world's busiest border checkpoint. But unlike MUP/KP/KFOR: avoid asking or contacting the Mexican police at any costs, even don't ask directions. They will just make more trouble.

You ask, how is possible to live under such circumstances? The answer is the number of illegal border crossings NORTHWARDS.

Ian - Actually, I think that it is in very poor taste and totally irrelevant to bring up Srebrenica in this discussion. What is the relevance? Where does the Bosnian War come into this thread?

Terrible things happened in Bosnia to people of all ethnicities by people of all ethnicities. Same in Kosovo - crimes were and are perpetrated against all groups of people. Perhaps you should stop reading old copies of the UK press for your information.

If whole groups of people can be silenced by dragging up terrible events in history in some sort of collective blame, then those of us in the UK don't exactly have clean slates. Why not try and stop a Croatian commenting, or an Albanian commenting, on the basis of various shameful episodes?

Goran is right - he was responding to comments that this story has nothing to do with the Serbian press, and yet Kosovo still legally remains a province of Serbia and no matter how autonomous, news from Pristina is still relevant.

Pristina is generaly a crime free capital.. Street crime is non exsistent and the police seems to be everywere.
In comparison to Belgrade, Zagreb, Skopje or even Tirana it's haven on Balkans...

Sorry, but which map would you like me to look at? There are quite a few new ones. There are a few maps that were made by the people who recognised kosovo, so they are of no use to me. I don't particularly like fake maps. Theres also a map which shows south ossetia and abkhazia independent... that seems like a nice map....but your buddies don't agree with it.

So again it is bad taste that the majority of bodies that are buried at the srebrenica site are unidentified. Also the fact that a number of people listed as dead happened to turn up in places like new york. You forgot to mention krajina and quite a few more places. But then again, like the albanians, you find serbian deaths impossible. Lets say that the boy who was stabbed in the back the other day died..... i couldve taken you, and every albanian on this site, to his funeral and you would still call it milosevic era propaganda, you would claim that he isnt dead, rather hidden or something along those lines. But hey, according to you, serbs never suffer.

(qylym, 3 January 2009 01:00)
Um, you seem to have lost me.... Ok, lets set it straight. Pristina is a city in kosovo, kosovo is serbian land, thus pristina is in serbia. And 40! That is grand, grand to see that you havent been able to ethnically cleanse them out. Take a look at how many serbs were in kosovo before 2000 (1999 the larger part of the war began, by 2000 they were almost all gone).

I have noticed that as well, it is just wierd. I think that the main goal of Serbian media is to portray Kosovo Albanians as kriminals in general. Every day someone gets killed in big cities even in small ones, why should the media of another country post this small incidents that happened in another country.

Here's one thing I don't understand:

Why is this news in Serbia? A guy gets shot in the capital of another country and it becomes newsworthy for B92? Here's some more breaking news: this happens every single day in every single city in the world, Belgrade included. Could B92 please cover all of those stories as well?

Thanks kindly.
