roberto from frisco loves to point out that the Serb radical Chetniks of WWII were atroticous too. Yes, they should have left the hundreds of downed American Airmen to die at the hands of the Ustashe. Then, American might have opened its eyes to the misbehaviours that were taking place.
it saddens me when roberto spews his nationalistic, american puritanistic rubbish into an arena of public opinion, yet has not taken any effort, or steps distancing himself from his own masters' international transgressions, over and over again as they happen.

well hell has frozen over (again) because i agree with mike's comment. so far as it goes.

however -- this very spot-on criticism of this pro-pavelic service has quickly turned into the usual bashing of all "ustashe" croatians, the eu, whatever. why does this never surprise me, by now?

on the other hand, croats must speak out against this tendency towards glorifying fascism, fascists. esp.ly this particular fascist. the way one reads in b92, ALL croats share such feelings, which i know is not true, but we seldom if ever hear from self-id'd croats, bosniaks, etc. any more. not by accident. more's the pity.

i hardly need add that every time ww2 is brought up on this site, the very active collaboration of the collaborationist serbian regime and its many willing executioners is conveniently...forgotten, as are the mass atrocities of the not-so-nice CHetniks. no accident.

i really hate how ww2 is misused and abused and slobo and co. were experts at it.

So in Zagreb less than 100 people and a couple of controversial priests gather to commemorate Pavelic .....

Yet in Serbia this year more than 40% of voters supported the extremist Serbian Radical Party in the general elections .....

Therefore less than 100 extreme Croats versus hundreds of thousands of Serbian voters ......

Gees, it pretty obvious who needs to better assess their past .....

No wonder its Croatia into the EU, and Serbia out until all the war criminals they harbour are surrendered to The Hague ......

Seems to me like it a case of "the pot calling the kettle black" .....

Pavelic was never tried for his war crimes. He was a head of a Nazi state. Not tried even as a collaborator. But General Mihajlovic, a Serb, was. Executed, too, along with masses of other Serbs. That was possible only because Serbs were sooo nationalistic and Serbia sooo dominant over all other republics. Of course Pavelic daughters deserve all the goods he looted. A rapist requesting payment from his victim, a murderer inheritance of the murdered!

You haven't seen anything yet the EU will be its new forerunner in the not to distant future of Nazisms. Most of the Europe is in its new and expanding borders. Keep your eye on the ball and don't kid your selfs like a coin it has to faces it will turn the EU no doubt about it.

The way the German controlled EU is behaving, Croatia will fit right into this immoral club. Perhaps they can all get together and sing along at the next Thompson concert in Zagreb. Germans have not forgotten who their friends are, but the Americans, Brits, and French certainly have. Shame on all of them.

It's total and utter disgrace
for a country that knocks at the door of the EU to honour a nazi leader.
The Greeks remember Ante Pavelic for his role in persuading Mussolini and the German SS to arm and train Mihailov's IMRO Bulgarian Ohrana gangs against the Greek resistance in World War II.
It seems to me that the Croats still haven't managed to draw any lessons at all from that war and the absence of any official condemnation shows hat old beliefs die hard.

I cannot understand how something like this was allowed and not stopped by the authorities. Commemorating Ante Pavelic after what he did???

This is like commemorating the death of Hitler. It truly does amaze me what Croatia can do without even a word from the EU.

Facism is alive and well in that country. Also, remember that George Bush's grandad was a Nazi supporter.

They may have lost during WWII but that didn't stop the battle. It just went underground but may now be returning to the surface. If it does, the EU is finished!

I agree with you and Mike - that was my reaction too. Can you imagine if this took place for example in Serbia or Germany? There would be outrage.

This is disgusting and disturbing, especially with no condemnation from any Croatian official.

Those poor people who suffered hell because of this monster.

"The media are quoting one of his previous messages when he said he is "convinced that leader Ante Pavelić is now in heaven along with innocent children, looking at God's face"".

The only place the soul of this scumbag could possibly be is with Hitler singing "O Tannenbaum" in Hell.
