"O tempora, O mores!"

yes, let us add some latin to the dialogue, though i have to wonder if it really raises the narrative or just makes it sound better, like english spoken with a high british accent.

we do, and I personally do believe that ALL war crimes must be investigated and adjudicated. this must happen; it has not. all of these so called 'processes' (we would say trials) that are taking place now (or before) in serbia have been nearly all coerced by either humanitarian law center (N kandic), international pressure, or specific political/historical circumstances (like djindjic's assassination.) they have NONE of them come about because of serbia's "good will" or "independent judiciary." that's a fantasy, which is a nice way of saying a lie.

meanwhile the worst war criminals: mladic, karadzic, sesejl (and so many more) have been lionized, made heroes by serbian society, serbian power structures. every year, i mean EVERY year we saw the ubiquitous and loving fotos of karadzic and maldic on those "nice" calenders, and i mean throughout RS and serbia. even novi sad. i've seen it all with my own eyes, again and again, thank you very much. and the graffiti for sesejl, in cyrillic, ubiquitous. you didn't have to search for it, believe me.

and the constant threats against the human rights advocates, in rs, in belgrade, every day until now! i know these things to be fact. so yes, O tempora, O mores! i, too, shudder at the times!

i repeat, all war crimes need to be investigated and adjudicated, no matter who (which ethnicity) was victimized. i have called on these latest suspects being sent to the hague to be tried. no i do not!! respect the serbian justice system, nor should i; it has not earned it. and if the bush regime used "water-boarding" it doesn't justify the lack of democracy or human-rights respect in your country

we need to make a lot of changes, we need to progress throughout the balkans (speaking now of the balkans.) it can only be done together, and with outside "direction" -- and yes, eulex we HOpe will set one good example. but it isn't just kosovo/a that needs a eulex if you catch my drift.

thank you.

A crucial reminder to all but especially to the Albanian camp.

Those old enough should remember the European press and other media before the decision was made by the West to illegaly bomb Serbia. The K Albanian criminal element with their daily activities were very troubling to the whole of Europe, especially to those in charge. There is a large school of thought that claims: that if the Albanian criminal element, and the weight of their large families and their scams which bleed the social system, were not a significant factor, than many of the EU countries would've chosen against the illegal NATO's plan. Surely there were other reasons and factors considered in their decission making process, but non the less the Albanian criminal activities and their future threat to the EU economy and security, played a significant role. So far relatively everything is going by EU's plan and EULEX has been the most anticipated part of that plan. Why? One big reason is so they can identify, finger print, photograph, get DNA if convinient, catalogoue, and get a hisory on each suspected and already known criminal, before they start rounding them up like Texas cowboys round up their longhorns to the pen, for their final destination. Do people ever wonder why the colonial west always installs criminals and greedy unscrupulous leaders as their puppets and try to do away with those leaders that genuinely care, and protect the interests of their people? If history has any bearing to the answer, then the answer would have to be the obvious--so they can control and do as they please. My advice to the decent, honorable, hard working and peace loving Albanians, which are in the majority, is to cooperate with EULEX. If EULEX does not deviate from their agreements on which they signed on, they will be successful, and that's a good thing that could happen for the Albanian people and the region. Who knows maybe at the end when their mission is complete they might be merciful toward your people and let you elect real leaders that cannot be blackmailed and forced to play ball against their own peoples interests. If you cooperate fuuly with EULEX, your people will have a very bright future in the EU community. And if you choose to hide and protect your gangsters and war criminals, then your province will forever be like Tijuana Mexico. And that's not a good place to raise future generations and leaders.

This is great because NATO and the UN have not prosecuted anyone for crimes against Serbs in Kosovo. Serbia is right to do it. Of course many believe crimes against Serbs are OK because of what the Serbs did but that is wrong. Albanians who have committed crimes against Serbs SHOULD be prosecuted. If NATO or the UN isn't going to do it Serbia should and they should be applauded for their stand for human rights and dignity.

Very surprised that no one is asking why these arrests were made now.
(A, 29 December 2008 12:41)

A, I may be wrong but I read somewhere that a number of these people had travelled to Presevo from Kosovo for the holiday period. Obviously the MUP were not going to go to Kosovo to get these guys. I hope one day that the Snake or his accomplices take a stroll there also and they too will get what they deserve. Other than Mladic, Serbia has co-operated unconditionally with the Hague something that the Kosovo Albanian authorities cannot claim, unless intimidation is deemed as cooperation in your eyes.

PRN, nicely put. Nothing further form truth.

This attempt of Serbian government comes at the end of year, just in time to report for Gov. progress, when the budget is not yet approved, when effect of financial crisis is felt in every Serbian house, when Car Bombs kill people in Serbia- mafia style, when War Criminals roam free streets of Serbia still ... and Serbian gov. talks about law and order

Lates wars fought by Serbia began with economic crisis. Milosevic gov.could not remain in power during the economic crisis thus it started, arresting Albanians and wars in the name of Serbianity-what a shame.

PRN and the other Albanians,

I will first begin with this citation “O tempora, O mores. As you can see, it is tempora with an A in the end and not temporo with O in the end of the word. However, it may be typing mistake.

Nevertheless, it is very appropriate to use this citation and speak out loud O tempora, O mores these days after reading the posts made by the Albanians, more specifically in regard to the arrest of terrorists. It is also very appropriate to use this citation when it comes to all the farce related to Serbian Province of Kosovo. The part of the world has shown its hypocritical face in regard to Kosovo thus the one poor soul as me must wonder “what kind of world is that we live in”. I see great injustice which makes me scream out loud O tempora O mores!

I will tell you now what O tempora O mores really is. Pay closely attention:

-Kosovo Serbs living behind barbed wires in Kosovo
-Kosovo Serbs living in ghettoes in Kosovo
-Kosovo Serbs in Kosovo having no rights to move freely thus depend on escort everywhere they move
-Kosovo Serbs still living in Kosovo under constant mistreatment, oppression, atrocities and frequent attacks
-Kosovo Serbs under constant pressure to move out from Kosovo
-Serbian cultural heritage and cemeteries frequently attacked, desecrated until finally destroyed
-Not a one has been yet charged with the murders of the kids in Gorazdevac, not to mention that not a one yet has been found and charged for so many deaths of Serbs and for those missed ones
-Organ harvesting and the list goes on.

Otherwise, the one must wonder how anyone normal can support terrorism and killing what ever ethnicities the victims may be or executors of the brutal killings.

You all claim these terrorists are innocent and I ask you back how you can claim something like that. Aren’t you glad that the scum is behind the bars? Every normal person may only wish to see highly dangerous criminals for the society ending up behind the bars.

What is it with the Albanians so much to shelter criminals of the worst kind? Why there is no wish in you people to clean your own garbage? How you can breathe and smell that garbage near you? Aren’t you ashamed of it?

Serbia may not be the best country to live in, but you can not say that Serbia and Serbs in general shelter own criminals. On the contrary, we are doing everything to clean our backyard and our own garbage. We have processes and trials going on at the moment. I am sure that you are all very well aware that the war criminals charged for committing crimes against the Albanian population in Kosovo are arrested in Serbia and many processes already ended while the other are still going on. I am sure that many more will be arrested. And they should be arrested. Why? Because they are dangerous for the entire society. If they could kill one human being of another ethnicity they are ready to kill another human being of their own kind.

By posting such comments you all look with very low capacity to distinguish right from wrong.

I suppose, you think these arrested criminals should be awarded for their misdeeds. After all they killed so many Serbs, so according to you they should be called your heroes. At least that is how it looks like when you make such comments.

Very surprised that no one is asking why these arrests were made now. Serbia has tens of large internal problems and to shift focus from it they made Albanians scapegoats.
The problems:
Serbia has huge economic problems and needs help from IMF. Serbia can bankrupt in the coming months.
Most Serbians are against NIS sale to Russians but the Serbian government has been bought by the Russian oligarchs. To avoid more debate they arrested Albanians so media can write about them instead of the corrupt politicians.
The budget is not being approved at the parliament and is very unbalanced. Government is going to force approval but don’t wants journalists to write about it because then they will lose to SRS and Nikolic next time there is elections. Remember that most Serbs have become poorer during the last 6 years. Only a small percentage of Serbs have become rich, not only rich but extremely, extremely rich.
There will be elections in Serbia during either 2009 or in the beginning of 2010. Tadic and his people need to use the nationalistic card if they want to win elections. The nationalistic card cannot be used against Croatia since they are stronger, richer and closer to EU. In Bosnia, Serbia has achieved what it wanted. The only place where they can grab something is in Kosovo. T

Do you truly believe these men are innocent? The Serbs who committed war crimes have been paying for their crimes at the Hague and in other countries. Now, other Serbs, not Serbs guilty of war crimes, have arrested some Albanians believed to be guilty of war crimes. These Serbs aren't guilty of anything. The worst Serb perp died in jail, Milosevic. Now he's dead and he cannot harm others anymore. At this time others must be investigated, including Albanians whom may have hurt non-Albanians, including Serbs. What's wrong with that? Don't Serbs deserve justice too? I sometimes think that some of the Albanians posting on this Serb site think we should substitute the English word honest with Albanian, as Albanian is synonymous with honest. Well, it isn't. There are good and bad people of all sorts, and it's time that all men are investigated and come clean for the crimes they may have done. If they didn't do anything, so be it.

So these people are accused of kidnapping 159 Serbs and other non-Albanians, torture, rape, mutilation and the vicious killings of at least 51 persons but the Albanians are still calling for their freedom?

No surprises there really! It is now crucial that the Albanians understand the rule of law and to start obeying it instead of constantly justifying crime. Enough is enough!

That fact that the Western media is going along with the Serbian government just shows their respective governments are involved in this action. This is just the introduction to the rule of law my dear Albanians. It is going to be difficult but necessary none-the-less.

Lets see how long it takes the trail to lead to Thaci and co. A very interesting development indeed! You asked for the rule of law and you are now getting it so stop complaining.

Good post Biljana, but a slight correction. The whole KiM is now one big ghetto.

Creating ghetto's takes a lot of time or requires great upheaval if you want to deliberately set them up.

"O tempora, O mores!"

yes, let us add some latin to the dialogue, though i have to wonder if it really raises the narrative or just makes it sound better, like english spoken with a high british accent.

we do, and I personally do believe that ALL war crimes must be investigated and adjudicated. this must happen; it has not. all of these so called 'processes' (we would say trials) that are taking place now (or before) in serbia have been nearly all coerced by either humanitarian law center (N kandic), international pressure, or specific political/historical circumstances (like djindjic's assassination.) they have NONE of them come about because of serbia's "good will" or "independent judiciary." that's a fantasy, which is a nice way of saying a lie.

meanwhile the worst war criminals: mladic, karadzic, sesejl (and so many more) have been lionized, made heroes by serbian society, serbian power structures. every year, i mean EVERY year we saw the ubiquitous and loving fotos of karadzic and maldic on those "nice" calenders, and i mean throughout RS and serbia. even novi sad. i've seen it all with my own eyes, again and again, thank you very much. and the graffiti for sesejl, in cyrillic, ubiquitous. you didn't have to search for it, believe me.

and the constant threats against the human rights advocates, in rs, in belgrade, every day until now! i know these things to be fact. so yes, O tempora, O mores! i, too, shudder at the times!

i repeat, all war crimes need to be investigated and adjudicated, no matter who (which ethnicity) was victimized. i have called on these latest suspects being sent to the hague to be tried. no i do not!! respect the serbian justice system, nor should i; it has not earned it. and if the bush regime used "water-boarding" it doesn't justify the lack of democracy or human-rights respect in your country

we need to make a lot of changes, we need to progress throughout the balkans (speaking now of the balkans.) it can only be done together, and with outside "direction" -- and yes, eulex we HOpe will set one good example. but it isn't just kosovo/a that needs a eulex if you catch my drift.

thank you.
