I say let's wait and see. Already today the accusations of one of the arrested went from war crimes to illegal possession of arms, judging from what B92 reports. Maybe it will happen the same for everyone, or maybe not.
One thing stinks though: Having the party that dragged Serbia into war in the Ministry of Interior is very fishy. That's where most of the information and archives are, controlled by people who are the most likely to have skeletons to hide. As long as they have that, none can expect any serious investigation of the Serb crimes in Kosovo (and Serbia itself by the way), just some cases here and there to pretend they are impartial.

As soon as SPS comes to power Milosevic style politics start. Same goes for this site, it is awash of SPS propaganda.

For many of your who don’t remember ask some older Serbs how did it happen that Serbia went into war with all Ex-Yugoslavia nations, results of which are known to all world.

I seems like DS is smartly playing this card to discredit SPS again in front of entire world.

The way they arrested these people, I think that thousands of Serbs in Serbia will start hiding to escape the same charges

"Mike unlike the Serbs or the others in that list, Haradinaj was declared innocent in a court of law"

Indeed he was Johny, but I wouldn't be as eager to paint him as a wrongly accused victim as you do. His acquittal came after a number of witnesses against him conveniently vanished - either intimidated into remaining silent, or worse. So while he walked in and walked out of the Hague, I suspect he was clever enough to cover his tracks to ensure an acquittal. And while we're on the subject of people who didn't hide, Seselj also willingly (almost boastfully) went to the Hague. I have no love for the man, but he went just as freely as Haradinaj, and is seen as just as much a hero by his supporters. So while I do not believe Haradinaj's judgement was fair (and neither do committed LDP supporters I know in Serbia), I feel i should include him in the list of "scumbags" (as you rightly label them) because of the absolute belief in his innocence by his supporters, regardless of what others think, argue, or know.

Dear Jay,

Thank you for your post.

It would be great if you send a post here to describe your personal experience during your time in Kosovo. This would give readers of B92 a unique insight of the reality in this reagion.

I look forward to read your experience (if possible).

Mike unlike the Serbs or the others in that list, Haradinaj was declared innocent in a court of law, not Serbian, not Albanian. Unlike any of them he went there on his own. Nobody dragged him there. Unlike any of the ones above he didn't even try to hide. Unlike any of the Serbs, or the ones above he didn't grow a ponytail and be secured a safe haven by its government. He had the decency and courage to face the accusations that were against him. When any of the scumbags or lowlifes you put on that list do what what Haradinaj did then you can put Haradinaj in the same list as them. No matter if you believe if he was guilty or not, when given the chance to face justice he didn't hide from it. When the cowards and scumbags in that list do the same and are cleared by the Hague you can equalize them. There is this urge the Serbs have to do everything possible to equalize their crimes with those of their neighbors. Now when Serbs had tanks and airplanes and an organized army, while the others had rusty kalasnikovs and farmer tools and unfed villagers as combatants, that makes no sense at all.

I spent a year as a peacekeeper in Gnjilane/Gjilan and left in late 2007. The International Red Cross actually keeps very good records of all the missing Albanians and Serbs from the War. As I remember very few were missing from Gnjilane/Gjilan, if any. Areas to the west and north of Kosovo were the relative hot spots during the war. Because the conflict was not as intense in this area there is a higher ethnic mix in Gnjilane then other portions of Kosovo. This is just another distraction between these two... they should both be more worried about getting their toilets to flush and their electricity to work for longer then a couple hours a day. Ridiculous.

2500 serb are missin from the war. Did they just go up in smoke? Or is it "Milosevic propaganda" that any serbs are missing? The whole world knows KLA are terrorists but the albanian treat them as heroes. No wonder they are behaving like butchers and criminals. No one in their own community is questioning their behavior.

No single country has objected to these arrests. If it is so wrong then why is Europe and America silent in this matter? The serb authorities have known who these murderers are for a long time. They saw the oportunity to arrenst these scumbags as the entered Presevo to start new troubles.

Don't send them to the Hague. Albanians will then get the oportunity to threaten witnesses or even make them "disapear".

If they're not handed handed over to Hague, I would think Serbia is trying to warm up situation in region.

For sure it is not god thing and it will not be any help for Tadic.

Don't forget we are at the end of 2008.

These Kosovo Albanians do nothing but make excuses for everything. According to them, they never did anything wrong ever. If a Kosovo Albanian murders somebody, it's the victim's fault. It would be interesting to see who claims responsibility when an Albanian hurts another Albanian. It would be like an infinite loop in a computer program, both sides saying it's the other side's fault.

If there is a genuine concern by the Serbian authority, why don't they hand these people to the Hague Tribunal?

Just wandering what happened with the fate of many Albanians disappered by the Serbian army (state) during the war? Is the Serbian government still "looking" for Mlladic? Just wandering.....

Organ harvesting is absolutely untrue, torture and systematic kidnapping of the Serbs is absolutely untrue, any crimes comited by ANY Albanians are absolutely untrue.

Just one reminder about the threats of 'war' because of this arrests: what do you think of how the Serbs feel about their children being kidnapped and butchered for organs?

Our government and police should go on and arrest all of those monsters who are still walking freely around and bring them to justice. There will be no peace ever possible between the Serbs and Albanians if they don't get severely punished for their atrocious crimes.

Dear Jay,

Thank you for your post.

It would be great if you send a post here to describe your personal experience during your time in Kosovo. This would give readers of B92 a unique insight of the reality in this reagion.

I look forward to read your experience (if possible).

Best regards

Jovan
