This is a recipe for more conflict and tension. None needed this, as no one believes in Serbian justice especially when it comes to judging the Albanians. And vise versa as well.

This is truly a stupid move, typical balkan style. I am not sure what is exactly that they are trying to prove? Are they trying to prove that they can find Albanian "terrorists" and have them face justice in Serbia? I have heard and seen Serbia do this before ...... and that's how Kosovo was lost.

The Serbs are partners with the West when it comes to war on terror and hunting down terrorists and war criminals, including their own Mladich. I just hope that the West cooperates fully with Serbia on the organ harvesting investigation as much as Serbia cooperates with the West on war on terror. If the Albanians continue with their established trend of family members bargaining for reduced sentences of their loved ones, than these ten captured, if convicted and setenced are more than enough to get the snowball rolling. Who knows, it may even lead to more information on the organ harvesting, or even solve the case alltogether. That being, I am not at all surprized at the " how dare Serbia do this? This is a reminder that the war goes on!" posters. If I had something on me or my loved ones and didn't want the law to find out I'll be worried and scared too. Especially if these 10 arrested knew something about me that could get me arrested and convicted.

I would ask those Posters who think that this action was inappropriate to answer the following questions:

1. Do you think that any KLA member has committed any crime ever?

2. If the answer is yes, do you think that those who committed a crime should be held accountable?

The action was transparent and the level of international scrutiny is such that the accused will not be declared guilty without hard evidence. It is naive to think that this action was done without international support, as Serbian government has learnt the lesson well.

As the K albs idolise USA, why not video tape these guys being questioned by the waterboard method? This is An interrogation method sanctioned by the USA. Okay, it is only one of many methods sanctioned by the USA. Soften them up with sleep deprivation, loud noise, threatening animals, all legal.

I am not interested in taking sides, Serbian or Albanian, I just want to know a few facts. How did the Albanians cross into Serbia, presenting papers or whatever you need to do at the crossing point or did they cross without authority? I do not live in that part of the world and my questions may seem odd but it is important for outsiders to understand these things.

The implications of how they crossed are relevant to the whole situation of their arrest.

"Those arrested are former KLA members whom the Serbian War Crimes Prosecution BELIEVE were involved in war crimes that included torture and monstrous killings of at least 51 Serb civilians in the Gjilane area after the 1999 war in the province"

I highlighted it "BELIEVE",in civilized countries you don't punish somebody because ur own beliefs, belief it is not a reason to arrest and presecute people, evidence is.
If they did such things how come they didn't arrest them before? can somebody explain, this is ridiculus, and later blame Albanians for tryung to defend their homes getting trashed every time somebody in Serbian presecution belives in something.
Serbia let people live their lives!!!

How dare Albanians go on killing, terrorizing and torturing Serbs for a very long time.
That's why Serbian had to send in troops to stop you people.

Your line "it is not that I don't trust the Serbian justice system, but I don't. What the hell does that mean? You will go on the defense of Albanians no matter what they have done are accused of done.

You don't even want Albanians to stand a trial because you are so worried that they will be found guilty. How can you sleep at night knowing that there are Albanians out there who have committed horrible crimes against the Serbs and other non Albanians and yet you direct your anger towards the people who arrest them?

You are worse than the Albanians here. At least they are Albanian and they simply don't want to know the truth about their own but you a sa "Jew", which I highly suspect you are have no reason to be so blind.

Serbia needs to show that Kosova/o is still hers, that's why they are arresting these men, which on the contrary of the majority of opinions here, are not yet GULTY, because they have been arrested not sentenced and of course Serbia cannot judge them as they are citizens of another Country/State.
It is purely a show, nothing else, a mean to create noise, nothing else. they can arrest people like foxes in the dark with falsification and false accusations just to make noise, but nothing else.

Roberto,

Do you know that a good number (maybe the majority?) of the "pekara" in Serbia are Albanian-owned? Same applies to money exchange booth owners. I did not see much hate-blasts against them. Sure, there were/are some issues but these Albanian businesses are in general well-respected.

Most "hate-blasts" are towards certain UCK members who are suspected to kill/torture/rape a hundred-something Serb civilians. Wonder, why.

Again, more knee-jerk comments from people with little to nothing to say. As I mentioned yesterday, were these 10 people Serbs arrested in Kosovo by the KPS, the Albanians would be jumping for joy. But because it's one of their own - regardless of how despicable these people may be - it's an infringement of sovereignty, a violation of law, and another example of anti-Albanian activity on part of the Serb race that has existed since the Expulsion from Eden.

I'm reminded of a quote by George Orwell that sums up the mentality of lots of people here: "As nearly as possible, no nationalist ever thinks, talks, or writes about anything except the superiority of his own power unit. It is difficult if not impossible for any nationalist to conceal his allegiance. The smallest slur upon his own unit, or any implied praise of a rival organization, fills him with uneasiness which he can relieve only by making some sharp retort."

Here we go again. Serbs started again war against albanians. Ivica Dacic he just look like Milosevic. He is Milosevic Student. It is still fresh in our minds the way albanians were pushed on self defence. Was same way as now accusing them that ar terrorists and they found one small gun and they planed to kill serbian nation with one gun. That gun probably was puted there by "Serbian Police read serbian terror". This is the reason to make another ethnik cleansing of three municipalities populated by albanians. Next step will be pushing albanians from there to escape and leave their homes and property.

"The three leaders of the group remain at large, and are believed to be living in Kosovo, it was revealed yesterday"

My compliments to Serbia! War criminals need to be persecuted.

Serbia is doing what Kosova should have start doing many years ago.

If someone in WEST that is via UNMNIK was banding or discouraging Kosova to persecute the Serbian war criminals since it could increase the ethnic tensions and relations with Serbia- now they have the PROOF that Serbia doesn’t give a DAMN about it. Now, they will be again with the finger in their mouth. Especially Kosova ;))

If you want to be really independent you have to be able to defend your national interest ABOVE ALL in front of your friends that do not agree with you in certain issues.

However, If Serbia has STRONG evidences about this group WHY they haven’t asked for cooperation from UNMNIK to arrest the leaders of this group AT LEAST??? (probably because of same motivations that UNMNIK has towards K-Albanian requests- but Serbia is truly independent country and in her territory can act as it wish- Kosova NO ).
FULL SOVREIGNITY NOW! BUT no one is giving to you the sovereignty- you take it and show ABOVE ALL to your FRIENDS that you are FULLY CAPABLE to be sovereign- maybe then countries will recognise you as well.

The missing cooperation with UNMNIK and Hague above all is a good question for the Serbian war crime pers. instead of putting the microphone in his mouth so he could say his moral and responsible judgments that "he cannot reveal the nature of crimes because it would jeopardise the ethnic relations".

The ‘stories’ of the brutality later AFTER THAT THEY HAVE BEEN PROVED, before that, you tale us CONCRETE issues as why you are NOT asking for cooperation from Hague and/or UNMNIK- since you have iron evidences????

It is still fresh in our minds the way albanians were pushed on self defence. That gun probably was puted there by "Serbian Police read serbian terror". This is the reason to make another ethnik cleansing of three municipalities populated by albanians. I agree with you on the terms of them being tried for their crimes (if they have evidences that crimes have really been committed by them), but this is something that should not be done in Serbia! It's the Hague Tribunal who should try them, not the Serbian courts!
So, this is what we are arguing about.

I'm glad that it's not 1981 when Nish and other prisons throughout Serbia were full of Albanian protesters and activists (my brother's father in law one of them).

Serbia is trying to match Albanian freedom fighters with her cold blooded killers who walk freely in Serbia today. Who's going to buy this dirty game anyway?.

I wonder why they couldn't do this when they were wearing KLA uniforms.

Each time I hear the people of the Serbian war crime persecutor office talking they sound to me as PILITICIANS not as PERSECUTORS.
Hand the case to HAGUE- do not politicise it as you always do Serbia.

EA

@ Mospyt; I support Kosovo's independence, but I believe that these men should be tried for their crimes. This is only fair, regardless if war crimes were committed against the Kosovo people. Two wrongs do not make a right. They must face the consequences of murdering and kidnapping people.

Also there is no ongoing war. It would be like saying that WW2 is still continuing today because former Nazi's are still been tried for war crimes.

These former KLA men committed war crimes and must face justice. Just like the Serbs who committed war crimes must also face justice. This is only fair.

Clearly, you should get a Nobel Price instead. But wait, they weren't that far away from that this year with that mafiosi from Finland.
