Wim, as a citizen he cannot be forced out and no one will do that. The are talking about Serb ministers that keep coming and going telling people in Kosova not to obey the laws, opening Serbian post offices etc. Enough already, come visit but behave...or stay out!

Ivanovic as a citizen of Kosova might have to curtail his activities for Serbia in Kosova though, I am sure they are laws against working for a foreign government unless you are registered and allowed to.

Kosovo is a Serbian province. Ruled by UN. So the socalled Kosovo government has nothing to say about who is entering the province.

The international community should monitor events like this very closely to ensure that 1244 is not violated!

To all: hope you had a nice Christmas. And hopefully Serbia and its province of Kosovo will have a better Christmas next year. And soo: in EU!

"What are you going to do if you are stopped at the border Ivanovic, keep waving 1244 in front of the border guards? There is also a diplomatic term: 'We cannot guarantee your safety'
(Albanian-American, 26 December 2008 14:17) "

But Eulex won't want to stop him at the border. Because that would mean a confrontation at the UN which the EU has no stomach to go through. Not after they fought so hard to get UN to allow Eulex in Kosovo.

And Pristina in turn won't dare to defy the EU because it needs the EU politically and economically.

As for your 'We cannot guarantee your safety', I will bet you my last euro that north of the Ibar, Ivanovic is safer there than Thaci and Co.!

Logic,

point to me where in the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations Article 9 it specifically mentions UN MEMBER STATE? Furthermore the UNSC Resolution clearly and explicitly states that Serbia has the right to bring army and/or police to Kosovo to guard Kosovar minority (mainly Serb); yet this right has been denied the last decade.

FYI, the Latin expression "Persona non Grata" is applicable for usage and appropriate action
ONLY in diplomacy of legal and sovereign countries. For instance, government of Serbia is entitled to undertaking such measures against the members of any political institutions of the so called "Republic of Kosova".

Ivanovic is being naive.

If they want to ban you, they will. EULEX asks them if they want any Serb officials to come into the province. All that's needed is a :NO, because he represents a threat to security", and that serb official is out. What are they going to do, attack kosova with the army to gain entry?

Rightly said, Mr Ivanovic. Belgrade does not need any permission from Pristina officials to enter own Province.

Pristina officials only embarrassing themselves by issuing such statements which in the end of the day makes them look foolish.

I am certain that every Serb can enter our province without any permission from anyone.
Unfortunately we still need some sort of protection thus depend on UNMIK or KFOR's escort if we want to visit any other part apart from Norhern Kosmet. If there was no escort, every Serb risks ending up behind barbed wire in best case, or somewhere in Albania for organ harvesting in worst case.

Come on Mr. Ivanovic how soon you forget that you were part of Kosova Govermant while back and now you jumped on the other side because of hafty salary. I can understand you , because you sell yourself to the highest bider.

If you believe in Kosovo as an independent state it makes refusing entry to Ivanovic only more criminal. He is a citizen of Kosovo and you can't just throw him over the border and take his citizen rights. That would be a violation of his human rights.
