Why? Why would we HAVE to rename them at some point? Who the hell keeps on naming and renaming streets lol? When you name a street, that's it. It's history. No changes. Those will forever remain Bush's and Clinton's streets in Prishtina.

Yeah, and Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington DC, where the White House is located, will HAVE to be renamed at some point too, right? Streets just HAVE to be renamed...
(kukuth, 27 December 2008 03:45)

Yep, the streets in Kosovo will be renamed in due time.
And for your information, many people rename streets all the time. Heck, cities get renamed after new political climate.
What is Leningrad now? What is Titograd now?
Do you see any Marshal Tito streets around any more?

I rest my case.

Even before Serbs rename those streets in Kosovo, you might want to do it. Like I said before. Imagine driving down GWB Highway and knowing how much America has exploited you. Surely you won't be comfortable with that.

Nelli, You are just sounding ridiculous. Kosovo is not Albania, so your comment about how you don't need to be represented twice just doesn't make any sense at all.

Are you going to send your football team to play in the world up but mix them up with the Albanian team?

Albania cannot represent anyone else but Albania. Do you think that UN is a playground and a note from Ceku will give Berisha a power of attorney?
(Peggy, 27 December 2008 03:51)

Peggy if you haven't realized it yet about half of the Albania's National Football team is made up from players that were born in Kosova. All it takes is one signature in Tirana and you're good to go.

You're right Peggy that at the UN there is one representative for each nation, so Albanians don't need two representatives there. This doesn't sound to me as a playground at all.

As for the the Kosova's seat at UN I'm not concerned at all since Albania has it's representative who can represent Kosova as well. Another words how many independent countries don't have a seat at the UN?. This tells me that it's not that important to have one.
(Nelli, 27 December 2008 01:01)

You're not seriously thinking that Albanian can represent another country are you?

Are you also going to send your Olympic team to mach under Albanian flag and improve the medal tally for Albania?

Do you think that President takes all the blame for these financial crisis?. NOPE!. Only because things didn't go well in Iraq doesn't mean that Bush is bad or what some people call him here the worst president. You people do know what happened in Kuwait and was it Kuwait who asked for foreign protection or am I dreaming?. Saddam was bad for majority of the Iraqis(kurds, Shiite, christians etc). Was it US or Iraqi court who decided his fate?. We do remember Iraqis on the streets celebrating the fall of Saddam. Anti US people were saying that US went there for Oil fields but how come Iraqi government is in charge of the country!. Did you hear that US is leaving Iraq because there is no threat for Kuwait, UAE, Israel etc anymore.

There is little difference between Saddam and Milosevic.

Iran is next and there is nothing Russia or anyone can do. There is no need for Iran to make dirty bombs because we all know where they plan to use them.

Human right violations are one of the worst in Iran but according to Jeremic that's fine, he said that at the UN.

Somalia is another great example. UN asked US and other NATO countries to go and keep peace in there, all of the sudden US soldiers come under fire from militia!, now what's happening in there?, not even the Arab countries care about them simply because you can't deal with people like them.
United States will never go to Somalia and try save them ever again.

Peggy,

Those street names will never be replaced with Serbian names, if we ever choose to change them, we might call them something like Peter Pan, Donald the Duck, but never Knaz Milos

Don't forget president Nixon. He fits in nicely with the bunch you have chosen.

How uncomfortable when the time comes to rename these streets.

"...i take my hat off for all that he's done for the Albanian people."

You honestly think he did this for the albanian people in Kosovo and not for his own reasons? GWB don't even care about his own kind so why should he care about albanians? So many places America could have interfeared in (Sudan, Zimbabwe, Burma etc) but he chose Kosovo. Look at the number of people in America that are starving and suffering in other ways. Are you sure he and the rest of the capitalistic american government is not just protecting it's intersest in Kosovo? After all, the military base in Kosovo is very important to the US in the race against CCCP. I hope I can ask you again after the amiricans have polluted your environment, just like they are doing in Japan. Ask the Japanees what they think of the Americans.

Ok, friends, i appreciate the gesture, but... bush is so... icky. (i'm trying to be nice, esp.ly on x-mas.) there are so many more, better choices. i do agree about blair -- my frnd is a doctor and was working in one of the camps in '99 when blair visited.

at one time we had great hopes for blair, but i think he had the great misfortune of being britain's leader when bush was put into office. and for whatever reasons, we was unable or unwilling to cross him, which he clearly should have done, esp. about iraq. we can say a lot in hindsight...

happy holidays, and here i will say to my albanian colleagues (since i'm assuming they may be reading this) -- best of luck for the coming year. i do think that we can all learn to live in peace and mutual respect, it isn't an impossible dream even if it often feels that way.

Even before Bush leaves his post it is an accepted fact that he is by far the worst president in the history of the United States. To name a street after him says more about the Albanians than it does about Bush.

ben

Tony Blair was much greater supporter for Kosova in 1999 and afterwards.

He was the ONLY leader in west considering the possibility of land intervention since the air campaign was not very successful. He basically dragged Clinton to think in this direction. He sent additional 1,000 British troops in Macedonia for that purpose and took the lead and told his partners that he is very serious in his intentions.

Do you remember his visit in the refugee camps in north Albania dressed in red and black??

We should not forget the merits of this man and his co-workers.
