Peter, you are playing a very dirty game with what you said. You are trying to make it seem that I do not want any cooperation with the EU. This is a typical thing that the pro-EU camp likes to play, to portray the anti-EU as people who want to cooperation with the EU. The fact is that we will have to have relations with the EU, and it is possible to reap benefits from having relations. However, I feel that we will get the most benefits if we do not join it, but do have relations with it. Without joining it we are not forced to abide by their many rigid requirements. We can do what we want. If we are in it we are not as flexible. Furthermore, I see the EU countries as always having connections with us, in terms of trade at the very least. Anyone who does not think this probably has problems. So please do not try to paint me as one of those problematic people, which there are very few of.

Why not trade with both? Why not have good relations with both? In this financial crisis, both the West and Russia are hit hard, both are in recession. Cooperating exclusively with Russia is precisely the reason why Soviet Eastern Europe was 20 years behind Yugoslavia who cooperated with both.

Thanks brother. The other thing that we must not forget is that Russia has much expertise when it come to building metros... not only has Russia built many, but they have built them in very difficult conditions, over and under rivers. I can't wait for more russian presence in the place of EU presence. The future looks good.

Dear friend ! Don't bother yourself with any arguments cause they don't work. This kinda men are totally deaf for anything positive about Russia. Sometimes I think that even if I give a short comment like " HELLO EVERYBODY !" they will give me "poor comments" only because I am a Russian.

K-man is right that most of the investments were coming from the West. What he is unaware of is that those were mostly Russian money returning from the Off Shores. Russian companies keep close to USD I trillion abroad.

Besides Russian Central Bank obtains now about USD 440 Bln. and in our two Reserve Funds we have another USD 130 Bln. Plus about USD 150 Bln were recently loaned to biggest national companies. This year Gasprom will have USD 100 Bln of pure income. Lukoil will enjoy income of USD 55 Bln , Rosneft USD 45 Bln ect.

So we have something to help our friends with. By the way today Russia has signed an aggreement to loan Belorussia about 100 Bln roubles (USD 3,8 bln) for replacing US currency in mutual trade. So in a week we shall start trading only under rouble contracts. The turnover this year was about USD 35 Bln.

Good Luck !

Albano, what are you talking about? Russia has hundreds of billions of dollars in foreign reserve holdings. As for lending, the West is the one that lacks money to lend to people. And furthermore, the West attaches conditionalities to loans, and these conditionalities are contractionary economic policy. After many loans for example, pakistan had to eliminate all funding from their public schools, pretty much eliminating them. That is just one of the examples of the results of requesting money from the West.

Lazar, 80% of Russia's loans for investments come from....the West! That's where the real money is. Serbia has gotten plenty of debts from the West, but now due to Serbia's horrible credit and economy no one wants to lend to them

This is good stuff. I must say that it is very interesting that they are not going to the West or EU for these loans? Did they get some brains back and have finally seen that there are many benefits from cooperating more with Russia? There is no reason why we have to join the EU to survive/succeed.
