"Don't blame Serbia for having to choose. They are forced to just like you country, Poland, is having to choose. Don't pretend it isn't. If they weren't forced to choose they would've never recognized Kosovo against the will of their people."

Good for Serbia, let them choose whatever they want. Serbia can't blackmail: 'if you recognize K, I'll go with China.' Serbia should have thought well before doing the shameful things it did. 95% of people in Kosova support independence, and that's good enough for EU /NATO.

Peter, I don't see what the average person in the street has to do with how powerful a country is.
Don't we all know just how much poverty there is in America? Don't worry about the glorified version of "average' American as portrayed in the soaps or movies.
During the Soviet Union era, the average Russian was no better off than today's average Russian but the country was powerful.
India's average citizen is better off now than before and the country is growing more powerful as well. Same goes for China. The average Chinese is better off now than before while the country get stronger. There are more millionaires in those countries now than ever before. I wonder why.

My point was that if those countries have investments in Serbia, the west would think twice about destroying those investments due to NATO aggression. When they bombed Chinese embassy "by mistake" and almost got Greek one "by mistake", America was bending over backwards then to pacify the Chinese. Imagine bombing Chinese investments now. I don't think so.

Do you get the picture?

Yes, Serbia would be better off being friends with everyone, but the west has made sure that this doesn't happen. They have put the "you are with us or against us" rubbish to Serbia and made it impossible. Don't blame Serbia for having to choose. They are forced to just like you country, Poland, is having to choose. Don't pretend it isn't. If they weren't forced to choose they would've never recognized Kosovo against the will of their people.

In the end we are all forced to choose sides. Nobody does it willingly.

Serbia should be friends with everyone, but focusing on the East instead of the West is foolish. The average person in China is no richer than the average Albanian or Namibian, the average Indian is no richer than someone from Djibouti or East Timor, Russia, while indeed a power a far better on average than the other two, compares with just one of the major European powers (UK, France or Italy) and is still weaker than Germany is. Why this obssession with the West crumbling? So there are economic problems, who isn't having them? You think Russia is doing well? They are hit extremely hard too! Everyone is! Militarily speaking also, while the armies of China, India and Russia are huge, they are armed with mostly obsolete equipment and have poor military tactics due to underfunding. Russia, China and India combined put no more than 125 bln USD into their armies, NATO alone pumps in a massive 1 trn USD. It should be obvious to which military to aliken itself to in terms of standards and allegiances.

Anyway, not to put anyone down, but Serbia should keep all their options open and definitely not focus on the East (being deep in Europe).

Peggy: This is a bump on the road for the western economy. Even if the west was crumbling, NATO would still attack a weaker opponent. The only way to be safe from bullying agressors like NATO is to arm oneself to the teeth like Syria and Iran, and have a superbly trained army. Only Russia can make that possible for Serbia, like they made it possible for Syria and Iran. It is so sad that at the begining of 21st century the most civilized nations(high ground moral leaders) are resorting to inhumane tactics like cluster bombing civilians and flying low over villages shattering windows and terrorizing young and old alike, bullying, and imposing inhumane sanctions on poor nations that don't succumb to their will. Disregard for International law, imposing their own tribunals and courts with hand-picked staff, giving immunity to oneanother and medals for the war crimes they commit. (WHAT IN THE WORLD IS GOING ON?)In Serbia, the behavior of NATO and most of its member contries, borderlines darkest human perverse sadistic intimidations and behavior, reminiscent only of their colonial times and darkest periods of European history. Unfortunately, the only thing that a bully fears and respects is strength and the will of one to use it. Russia is living proof of that. So is North Korea, Iran, Syria, even Kosovo Albanians with only verbal threats, are having the bullies grinning and dancing to their music. Recent history shows that the bullys are getting embarassed wherever they are resisted. Somalia, Haiti, Georgia, N. Korea, Vietnam, Cuba, Nicaragua, Beirut, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan... Ocassionaly they find a poor unfortunate victim like Panama or Granada for their generals and leaders to get their jollies off, take some photos, and inflate their victory straight into history books and Hollywood movies that they help write-starring Clint Eastwood in Granada super duper daring rescue. LOL Or someone like Serbia or Iraq so they can dump their expired ammunitions, litter the countrysides with unexploded cluster bombs and depleted uranium. Not to mention killing and maiming hordes of innocent civilians. Yeah, lets hit the civilians, it'll save more lives in the long run. That's their signature cowardly modus operandi. For now it is only the children of their victims that are a threat to the western economy. And there are plenty of them, every morning more and more wake up and ask where is my daddy?

"these countries you mentioned are in worser place than the west and it makes sense." For someone who watches the news or has a grasp of economics, the exact opposite is true. These countries are not in a recession. They have merely seen a drop in their growth! Their economies are still growing. Now back to Kosovo! The peasants who live off the handouts from the West should be extremely worried as there is simply no cash to go around. This is what you should be concentrating on!

It seems that Western Companies producing good in India are moving to Serbia. Western Companies moved their production to Idian because of the cheaper Labour. Now it seems that Indian companies are moving to Serbia because of ...

Fot those that think that Serbia is some factor think again. Maybe labour in Serbia is cheaper than in Bulgaria and Rumania but not more important than those 2.

@Peggy:

First of all NATO has absolutely no reason to bomb Serbia again. The Milosevic times are over forever.
Second, the investments in Inđija are good for Serbia, good for Vojvodina and good for the region.
And third, investment from Russia, China, India and the EU don`t exclude each other at all. They are already reality.

As with regards to NATO, oh yes it will, without the second thought.

This is wonderful news.
India, China and Russia are new economic giants and Serbia will do well to establish good business relations with these countries.
The west is slowly crumbling and attention should be focused on these three countries. Military and business cooperation with these countries is a positive for Serbia. EU is not going to be able to dictate to Serbia once all this falls in place.

Once these countries become more invested in Serbia I seriously doubt that NATO will have the guts to do what they did in 1999.
