I'm sure if given the option of restoring Yugoslavia, Slovenia would be the first to accept on the condition that the capital be moved to Ljubljana.

This was a particularly shamefully part of Slovenian 'quiet' nationalism that was covered up so cleverly, whilst eyes were on the conflict zones in former Yugoslavia.

This insular nationalism (including aspects of economic patriotism etc) and the clever methods employed by Slovenians has not gone unnoticed among thinking Serbian citizens, nor businessmen that hit a brick wall when trying to invest. (Must admit I would sooo love it if Delta was to buy Mercator...) I think Slovenes would throw a major tantrum. 'Yes we like the Serbs, but those barbarians in charge of our precious flagship company, it makes me shudder'... You can imagine the polite rage...

I believe that Serbia should side with Croatia on a number of disputes between the former Yug republics. Aside from Serbian short and medium term interests anybody with an ounce of sense can see that Slovenia is abusing its position within the EU to punish and belittle Croatia whenever possible. I think that Croatia would reciprocate and be willing to compromise on Serbian interest in Croatia. Plus public opinion in Croatia is still suffering from anti Serbianism. A does of Serb friendly stories (alongside anti Slovenian ones) would mean that the Croatian government felt more free to assist Serbian returnees for example.

Still Serbia cannot become involved as it has too many issues on its plate. Plus Croatia did not help by stabbing Serbia in the back on the Kosovo issue.

It is a tangled web as my compatriot would say.

Rupel is to blame and the Slovenian government they thought they were superior in every way then their Ex Yugo padres. That is what happens when you join the EU you become full of your nonsense self it is the hypocrite snobbish culture of the EU to talk down to every one else. Slovenia is suffering now by its attitudes toward their neighbors who are refusing to patronize their company's and products.
