where can i begin on this? first of all, the closest "black hole" that we (scientists)know of is apparently right smack in the middle of our galaxy. so they tell us. and it is not entirely a bad thing, but that's getting off topic.

as for "human rights" in serbia, the article should have centered on the article i saw from a yahoo search, focusing on serbia's leading human rights groups pressing for their country to do more to face its role in balkan war crimes and punish the culprits. so what i read here was just so much baloney and cheese, and actually laughable.

the truth is that conditions for human rights around the globe is deplorable, esp.ly in the balkans, but also from my (former) govt. think gitmo, think torture, think abrogation of basic geneva convention rules, i mean it just doesn't stop, and the work to turn it all around will be monumental, never mind about the economy. still if anyone can, it is obama and his team...

the serbian "minister from kosovo" trashing human rights in kosovo/a is just the utter and supreme chutzpah (loosely: nerve.)

but all of us need to be a bit less self-righteous and a bit more self-critical about how we do and do NOT protect human rights, especially those of memebers of minorities.

as for kosovo/a, i believe we are moving in the right direction but still have a long ways to go.

and pls let's hear from human rights people in (and out) of serbia!!

thank you.

I find it cynical that a country like Serbia, where minority human rights are violated on a daily basis is organizing a so-called Human Rights Day. I was on a visite in Hungary in October when the media reported one of the many attacks against Hungarians. It occured in Subotica (Szabadka), where a Hungarian father and son were attacked by a large group of young Serbs. Several policemen were nearby but did not intervene. The Serbian attackers enjoy full immunity in all similar attacks.
The Hungarian public blames their own government for not protesting against such attacks in a country, who desperately wants to become a EU member.

Kosovo, "black hole"

Minister for Kosovo Goran Bogdanović also made a statement today, to say that Kosovo is the “black hole” of Europe when it comes to observance of basic human rights.

“There is still no rule of law in the province, there is no full freedom of movement for Serbs and other non-Albanians in Kosovo and, even after almost ten years since the arrival of the international community in Kosovo-Metohija, they still live in fear and uncertainty," Bogdanović told Tanjug.????????

Lies Lies Propaganda Lies never stop in Belgrade. And you calling yourself a Ministar, Shame on you.
Black hole is in Serbia not in Kosova.
You cannot be ministar for Kosova when you live and work in Serbia.

Good move by Serbian goverment. It needs to ensure that all its citizens have same rights and that there is no discrimination towards anyone and also no special privileges for some minorities.

The government needs to do a better job in exposing Kosovo abuses and its abysmal track record toward non Albanian minorities. The real victims in Kosovo are Serbs, Roma and other non Albanian minorities. This needs to be made clear to the world and international organizations on a regular basis.
