Ljajić unsatisfied with EU decision

Rasim Ljajić says that instead of appreciation after Karadžić's arrest, the EU had punished Serbia by insisting on full cooperation with the Hague Tribunal.

Roberto, if you ever had any credibility on this site you have just lost it.
Trying to build something rotten out of nothing is desperate and pathetic.

Kindly take your hatred and move on. Obviously for Serbs, nothing short of waking out of the parliament and handing the country over to Albanians and Bosniaks will satisfy you.

Asking Croatia and others how much more of Serbia would they like and handing over what is left is the only way for you to acknowledge that Serbs are human. Maybe not even then.

thank you, Kosovar. ljajic is such a quisling, i mean he makes tadic and jeremic look respectable. actually, he is LOL. period. and they trot him out, and then tell us, SEE, he's a bosniak (!?) and it just PROVES we are multi-cultural. which is something akin to bush/cheney regime appointing clarence thomas (our supreme court's worst!!) and bragging, "see, see, we are soooo multi-cultural!" i mean this character should really retire, he is an absolute joke and embarrassment to any serous outsider, or insider for that matter.

Dear 'roberto' from 'frisco'

What an absolutley disgusting, patrionising and ignorant remark you once again make towards the Serbian people, culture and state. I bet you you have never been to Belgrade or indeed Novi Pazar where many Bosniaks live.

On another context, there are over 500,000 catholics living in Serbia (Albanians, Slovaks, Hungarians, Croats, Germans, Czechs, Slovenes etc.)

How the hell is Mr Ljajic a quisling. He represents his constituency, his people in parliament and in government. He holds a Serbian passport, was born there and will represent their interests since that is what he does. What about Mr Istvan Pastor (Hungarian) is he a quisling? Is Mr Tibor Varadi (Hungarian), Serbian legal advisor on Kosmet a quisling? Is Oliver Dulic (Croat) ex speaker of parliament and DS MP a quisling? Is Mr Leon Kojen (Jew) a quisling? is Mr. Srdjan Sajn (Roma) a quisling? Was the Hungarian officer who shot down the Stealth bomber in 1999, Zoltan Dani a quisling? Is Albert Nadj a quisling? No they are not. They are loyal to Serbia. Why? Because Serbia treats them and their people with respect and grants them full civil liberties. Serbia is the most multiethnic and tolerant states of all the ex Yugo republics. Its not called mini Yugoslavia for nothing.

I suppose you cannot get it into that narrow mind of yours that there are non Serbs living in Belgrade, Novi Sad, Nis, Novi Pazar etc. who get on well with their Serb compatriots and full civil rights which minorities can only dream of in KLA controlled Kosmet. Do you know that Novi Sad council has to conduct its findings in 6 yes SIX different languages. When I was last in Serbia I had to go to a police station in Stara Pazova to register as a foreigner to be assisted by a kind K-Albanian lady who worked there because I couldnt speak Serbo-Croat, Hungarian or Albanian the language the documents were written in. Not to mention the policemen inside the station were Slovaks because they spoke it. Are they quislings too 'roberto'? What about the Hungarian cop who bust me for j-walking in Belgrade, is he a quisling? Is every single non-Serb living in Serbia a quisling? Are my college mate's girlfriend's family (Slovenes) who live in Novi Beograd quislings?

What would you like to see 'roberto'? Would you like to see all the Bosniak, Croat, Hungarian, Albanian, Roma MPs walk out of the Skupstina, boycott all state institutions, and have inter ethnic riots breaking out on the streets of Belgrade, Novi Sad, Subotica, Presevo, Novi Pazar, Nis, Bosilegrad. Would you like Serbia tear itself apart and be wiped off the face of the earth?

I'm sorry to disappoint to you mate but it aint going to happen any time soon, why? because unlike in Pristina, Serbia treats its ethnic minorties accordingly and gives them appropriate representation in parliament and shock horror in government.

I'll tell you how i feel. I think you're a sad person, I really, really do.

How sad! Serbs are either naive, blind, do not know who their enemies are or have wrong perception of global political realities. You were bombed (lost all your infrastructure), your country was raped (Lost Kosovo,, 17% of your national territory). You extradited your Serbs to Hague. In spite of Western total lack of candor,
Serbs still hope that membership in European union will bring peace and prosperity. That will never happen!
Western view is that Serbs can be blackmailed ad infinitum. Extradite
every Serb but additional demands
lies, blackmail and pressures will continue.
Do not beg for European union membership. Demand preferential deals and privileges or express total disinterest. Serbia is biggest Balkan
and European problem ( Bosna, Kosovo). Giving up Kosovo and joining Union would solve all their problems .
More militant posture in regard to Kosovo's return to Serbia have no risks.
Stop being manipulated. Show some fortitude. Nobody is going to give you anything. Only you can get justice and equitable treatment for your long suffering country So go and get it! Good luck!

I can understand the frustration, but why fall into that trap at all?

The simple answer would be to just arrest Mladic and hand him over to the Hague. Perhaps Serbia wants to win more concessions from the EU, such as a rapid EU membership on par with Croatia before doing this, but do not complain and insult the EU ministers then, because it would make things only harder.

Instead of playing charades like going to the house of Mladic's son etc, just arrest Ratko Mladic, hand him over, and then the game is over. You have won the concession that after that the trade agreement will be unfrozen and plus other perks.

I still cannot understand why a whole state is protecting a vicious war criminal and makes its own people suffer for a mass murderer.

Its pretty easy to read into what the EU is really up to. For starters they've duped not only the pro European Serbian Government but also the voters at the last general election with their promises of EU intergration. First by signing the SAA with a fancy ceremony only to have the thing frozen until further demands are met. Then with the arrest of Radovan Karadzic, the government expected some progress with its EU intergration, maybe even the unfreazing of the SAA, but no still not enough. Now Vuk Jeremic and Rasim Ljajic are starting to see what the EU is really up to and are public expressing their dissapointment with the EU's lack of support and appreciation in the Serb Gov. efforts in satisfying the EU's demands. If they do manage to find Mladic the best the Serb Government can expect is the un-freezing of the SAA. But Candidate Status is a long way off, and EU membership (even further) will only be given if Serbia recognises Kosovo's UDI, which wont happen. But at least by that stage the EU would've got what they really wanted (and maybe the Serbs too) and thats all the war crime fugitives. Solana just about admitted this the other day. The EU is gonna end up pushing the current Serb Gov. and its people further away from where they need to be if it wants progress and peace in the Balkans. Serbs realy only want to freely trade and travel within the EU. EU membership isnt a priority.

Really you want a premium just because after killing thousands of people, burning, raping and stilling innocent civilians, you handed over 2, 3 or 4 war criminals!? Are they supermens to do such massacre!?
I don't think you can feed EU with an empty spoon.
You "don't want us in EU"!? Are you in EU!? Beside that you consider people in Brussels as gangs and you shows a great hate.

I don't think is difficult to understand. The difficulty is to change. You must change to be in EU.

Patrik, because the requirement was only turn over 1. This was the case since 2005, the Dutch insisted Mladic be arrested.

The Dutch insisted on Mladic, because it was believed Karadzic would be a harder find.

Basically, Serbia exceeded expectations by turning over somebody whose capture was not wanted and whose capture was considered captured.

What happenned when Serbia exceeded expectations. They were given the middle finger and promises made were reneged on [i.e. the Interim Trade Agreement] and the serb side was told "We said Mladic, not Karadzic, you should be punished for exceeding our expectations."

Anyways. The Croats were not treated the same and the Croats put less effort in arresting Gotovina then Serbs have into arresting Mladic.

I don't get it. Serbia was asked to turn over both men. They turned over one and are working to turn over the other. Seems simple enough to me. One down, one to go. That is progress, but not complete. Why is everyone shocked that the EU is still asking for Mladic? Both sides have always known what is expected. I am not fond of the EU, but I don't think they are doing anything sneaky here. Now if Mladic is turned over and then the EU adds a new requirement, then I think Belgrade should tell the EU to stuff it.

Adrian DOBI,
Mr. Ljajic made no wars. In fact, he is a slavic muslim (you may even call him Bosniak) from Serbia. This shows you how dedicated Serbia is to multiethnicity. Leave it to the gangs in Brussels(really Berlin) to dictate all kinds of additional things Serbia must do to get in the EU. Until August, most of the world thought that Karadzic and Mladic would never be handed over. Serbia handed over one and got nothing for it.. just a "Keep em coming" from the EU.

It almost feels like they'll use this EU carrot to make us do whatever it takes then in the end say "ohh too bad, we dont really want you in the EU"

Dear Mr. Ljajic. Can you say how many persons are responsible for all atrocities during 4 wars you made in Balkan?
If you work for Serbia, don't you think that is time to change and you have to overcome yourselves?
Please, don't mislead your politics protecting the war criminals.
You must show really that Serbia has change and archaic nationalism will not take place there.
Open new horizons to your country and abandon old strategies by victimising yourselves. Serbians too have suffered to much. They need change but is needed courage to do it and step forward.

I still cannot understand why a whole state is protecting a vicious war criminal and makes its own people suffer for a mass murderer.

thank you, Kosovar. ljajic is such a quisling, i mean he makes tadic and jeremic look respectable. actually, he is LOL. period. and they trot him out, and then tell us, SEE, he's a bosniak (!?) and it just PROVES we are multi-cultural. which is something akin to bush/cheney regime appointing clarence thomas (our supreme court's worst!!) and bragging, "see, see, we are soooo multi-cultural!" i mean this character should really retire, he is an absolute joke and embarrassment to any serous outsider, or insider for that matter.

and next time i'll say how i really feel :))

Good luck!
Orion.
