"Name one of these challenges serbia has exceeded?"

Organized crime. If you bothered to read the reports put out by european institutions such as EUROPOL etc. you would know that there is much less organized crime in Serbia (also no sanctions which were organized crimes best friend), now Bulgaria and Romania being the biggest sources for mafia activities. Not forgetting Kosovo of course.

If I consider something mine, I defend it, at least in public.
(EULEX, 9 December 2008 01:34)
so, you would defend criminals from your own country because they are "your own"? is that the reason for so much denial about organised crime and hate crimes in kosovo from the albanians? whenever something about them is mentioned you get the impression that albanian posters take it personally.

sp,

Do you really believe what you write yourself?

"one side says status is resolved, other side says it is not"

So then it is NOT! Please learn to make compromises.

So in your world if my country Holland says to Germany: we don't pay our debt to you, that is fine?
Because one side says: we do it this way?

If Kosovars want to live like this for sure they are not welcome in EU!

And sp, 1244 is still valid. It calls for negotiations. And there is no deal, so Kosovo is still part of Serbia!

And I really feel pity for you living in a non-state.
But greetings from Holland. A real state! sp and others, please stop fooling yourself!

When Serbs talk about Kosova's crime, trafficking, rule of law and all the bad things their minds can imagine, they exclude it from Serbia, but when it comes to defending their "sovereignty", they seem to have pretty much quite the opposite opinions. If I consider something mine, I defend it, at least in public. So please, choose a path!

Do these challenges include going after the organ harvesters, and the Mafia infested heroin - dealing leadership? Or are you going to allow the Kosovar leaders like the Afghanistan leaders to get fatter and fatter with drug and blood money? The UK and the US already admitted that the whole Afghan government is financialy dependent on the opium trade. Also they said if they stopped the opium trade, that they would have to finance that government out of their own pockets. What are we to expect from you regarding the Kosovo Government, now that the West is hurting for money? Status Quo? The Bosnian mistake by Bill Clinton was not enough? Albright and Holbrooke lied to the world that Bosnian Muslims were secular, multi-ethnic oriented, democratic, etc. And now you are shocked at the 40,000 wahabis, and an untold number of Iranian and Al Qa'ida agents lving and plotting in Bosnia. And yes, some in Serbia too. Read your own historians, authors, politicians, high-ranking millitary and intelligence officers, and other experts on the Bosnian War. Read the latest article: "Bosnia and global jihad", and while you are at it, check out some of these books from your local library: Christopher Deliso,"The Coming Balkan Caliphate:The Threat of Radical Islam to Europe and the West",also "Schindler, John R. "Unholy Terror: Bosnia, Al Qa'ida and The rise of Global Jihad." Bottom line? The Serbs Practically begged you to listen to reason and to look at documented facts, but Madeline, Holbrooke, and Clinton were mostly interested in their own legacy and careers.
So, now it's deja- vu all over again. Only this time it's Kosovo and not Bosnia. For how much longer are you going to lie to your people back home that both Bosnia and Kosovo are a great success? Your propaganda and lies that you force-fed your own innocent people back home, never flew for a minute in the Balkans. In most of the Balkans one can pick any average young sheep- hearder, which probably speaks, reads, and writes several languages, and he/she would know more about world history, geography, current events, world affairs, math, science, physics, than the current "Free World Leader" that graduated from Yale. Or Sarah Palin that went to six different colleges, and thought that Africa is a country and not a continent. So now that you can see, that we are not little Willies from the park, I ask you when is the bullying of the Serbian people going to stop? When is NATO going to pay for all of the illegal damage that they caused to the Serbian People? When is the EU going to come out of their coma of denial and stop pretending that they are these righteous holy virgins, and realize that they are no better or worse than anybody else in this world? When is Angela Merkel going to stop sniffing around for acorns in our neck of the woods? When is the international law going to start to be respected again by the West? When is Resolution 1244 going to be fully respected? When are the Dutch going to grow-up and start blaming themselves (or nobody ) for their actions, and understand once and for all that the Serbs were in a fight for their own existance against the same "Monster" that the whole civilized world is now fighting against. When are you going to admit to yourselves that Serbia was the FIRST victim of the "Monster", and that you were cowards in not helping an old ally, instead you chose a cowardly policy of appeasing the "Monster", and went on a heartless campaign of propaganda and launched your planes and missiles like some beings from another planet, for 78 days and nights. In 1389 Europe remained neutral, while Serbia took on the Ottoman Empire at Kosovo Field.

Where is Serbias Kosovo Field today? Where is Serbias monastaries, religious sites, and churches (what's left of them)? They are still in Serbia, because Kosovo is Serbia. And you very well know that fact, but you are still trying to break laws and wrestle Kosovo away from Serbia. Honestly, after almost ten years of bullying, one starts to get a little sick and tired. Our average age is 44, we are getting older ,and your bullying is getting old. So why don't you give us a break and do what is Right and make ammends with your Maker--this way we can be friends again, and fight the "Monster" together.

Ron,
True 1244 is still in effect, apparently you do not understand the principles of 1244, it denies Serbia any right to interfere in the dealings of Kosovo. As far as the territorial integrity thing goes, that was for 1999 and only clarified that at that time Kosovo was still a province of (Y). But that was only until there was a resolution of status. One side says status is settled, one side says it is not, hence the new phrase of the UN/EU "status neutral".
Peggy, apparently you did not read Ban's report presented at the UN and overwhelmingly endorsed by Serbia. In it is the summation that freedom of movement is not a major concern for minorities in Kosovo with the exception of the minority Albanian population in the north.

Peggy

pre 15 godina

The biggest challenge will be the willingness of EU to take Albanians on in order to protect Serbs and other minorities.

Will the barbed wire enclosures be dismanteled? Is armed escort going to continue to be necessary? What will the difference really be?

Once it becomes obvious that nothing will change the mighty US will have to admit their failure and bow out gracefully.

EULEX will servie only one purpose and that will be for the benefit of "I told you so".

the only reason serbia is where it is now is by pretending to be a victim of lost "sovereignty" as result is take these advantages other then that we are pretty much on the same sack.

Ron,

Kosova declared independence based on 1244 and up to this day 53 countries, including 22 EU have recognized it.

I agree: no new borders. The Schengen area is a perfect solution

How ridiculous! It is clearly no problem at all.

The United States will fix everything!

They're even members of the European Union and have their signature on the EULEX agreement!

Of course there is one fly in the ointment - rather poor education in geography...

"Huge challenges"- what a ridiculous understatement!!!! And the funny thing is that EVERY single country who has recognized the UDI of Kosovo knows that Kosovo cannot stand as an independent country, no matter how much money is dumped there. With absolute criminals, and their families, as the "leaders" of Kosovo, with no legal economy, with unemployment about 60%, with no ability to have their own judicial system (hence no real law and order), with over 50% of the Albanian population being under 18 years of age, and with no real future ability to create a stable, multi-ethnic, working society.....well, I think that everyone in this "game" KNOWS the real scenario. These are not "huge challenges", but rather "impossible challenges"!!! Wake up world and stop trying to fool everyone, because sooner than later, the "house of cards" will fall!!!
