no, ben. you are basing your judgements on the nationalist irredentist ideology that used to be respected in europe in the 19th century, but not today. there is a reason why politicians in the west are trying to paint their support for kosovo independence as support for struggle for human rights. irredentism has no credibility in the west anymore.

I just want to give one small advise in case some important Serb politician reads this. Time is on Serbia's side. The US influence is diminishing and the Russian, Indian and Chinese influence is growing. Even the Americans are admitting we are heading towards a multi-polar world. Just hang in there, don't give up now. Time is on Serbia's side!

No Mike,

That's right my American friend - we all must keep the Albanians quiet. We must stop them realising the truth so that they don't show their true colours once more by burning Serbian homes and terrorising non Albanians.

How does it feel mr Fried to be stuck in this position?

MikeC

Well what is the guy suppose to say? We failed and Kosovo should be partitioned!
In a couple of years they will say: We tried to keep Kosovo united but the two communities refuse to work together and perhaps we should leave them alone. This is what will also happen in Bosnia. Telling someone what to do and whom to belong to will never work.
If EU/US seriously believe that Kosovo serbs should be a part of albanian run Kosovo then they should clens the serbs from their homes in the north and send them to Serbia. Kosovo serbs have never and will never be ruled by albanians.

Mike

Ben,

So according to your logic, Montenegro has already taken too much from Albanians 128 years ago - a full 32 years before Albania existed as a state. And Montenegro at one point controlled Pec and Decani. The State of Albania has never.

According to this logic, Greece should retake control of Constantinople and Hungary should march right back into Transylvania.

But that's normal: Montenegrins take too much from Albanians; Albanians take too much from Serbs; Serbs take too much from Bulgarians; Bulgarians take too much from Macedonians; Macedonians take too much from Greeks; Greeks take too much from Turks; Turks take too much from Armenians; Armenians take too much from Georgians; Georgians take too much from Ossetians; Ossentians take too much from Russians.

Learn to live with your reduced beach property. You're constantly telling Serbs to do the same, right?

To Mr. Bogdanović and his followers;

As long as North of Kosova accept EULEX without trouble is fine, whatever your thinking is. As a matter of fact is completely irrelevant. Just don't burn anymore cars in North Mitrovica. Let EULEX take over peacefully and we'll talk again in two months on who is being pacified.
Right now I have a hunch on that.

Mike Montenegro wil get nothign from Dukagjin- they have already taken too much of the coast from Tivar (Bar)- to the lake of Shkodra and parts of the Albanian alps- Plav & Gucia. They shoud be more than happy not to enter in that negotiation- FYROM too.

Take a look to this article of NY Times June 1, 1880, plenty of info on that, and same problems as today- for the simpel reason the will of the Albanian nation was not respected by the great powers.

And in the end, I do hope that the exchange takes place and point 3 is thrown down by Albaniasn just as Germans did with their wall.

What do all these comments say? World order died on 17th February 2008. This precedent will, over the years create choas in those countries with minority status.

The UN is dead as a effective international rule of law. What will replace it? Well, it is happening now US in Kosovo, Russia in South Ossetia. The so called big countries will use minority status's for their own political ends!!!

The US and EU killed international law, shame on them!!!!!

Of course Fried needs to say this to neutralize Albanian dissatisfaction. Why in the world is he now saying Albanians are showing "wisdom" in accepting EULEX when for the last three weeks, Thaci and Co. have been categorically rejecting it, holding Milosevic-esque rallies in Southern Mitrovica, and organizing protests throughout the Protectorate? Why have we been hearing from numerous Western media outlets that Fried, among others, have been "persuading" Pristina to bend under pressure? Now all of a sudden he comes around and says that EULEX won't be status neutral even though it was voted on in the UNSC - by the US - as status neutral?

Why Fried is trying to give Pristina a false sense of hope is beyond me. It's kind of mean if you want my opinion and only contributes to Albanian naivety in thinking the US gives a damn.

Ben - I at least have to applaud you for your realism. I personally hope it doesn't come to that, but if it does, I really don't think that many people will be upset over it - though I'd call for a sliver of land in Pec and Decani where the monasteries are to be given to Montenegro, but let's not dwell on land carving just yet.

Ron,

The UN has had many failures, Res.#1244 is but one of them. 1244 is just a resolution, it is not cast in stone. Resolutions are something that Russia has trampled on many times when it was expedient for her, this should be no surprise to you! The UN would do well to stick to missions where it is successful such as providing milk for undernourished babies in Third World countries.

America's wanning and ineffective international influence at work. Unfortunately for the Americans, August 2008 brought about a cataclysmic effect - the birth of a multi-polar geopolical system, after their failed attempt at thwarting Russia in Georgia by giving Tbilisi the ceremonial green light. The green light the American's gave heralded the birth of a new world system. No more are their words a doctrine, but mere hollow words shrouded in shame. Pristina will soon recognize a difference in direction starting January as well. Just look at the financial crisis they brought on...need I say more...
So, in ending, once again -Mr. Fried - solve the problems in your own backyard before you mind your business in others...

Or maybe you are trying to calm your Mr Bogdanovic who knows??? time will tale...

However, I regret if north of Kosova do not separate.

Firstly, Let's be honest, Zubin Potok, Zvecan are part of the old Serbia- Raska, that were given to Kosova during the 50s and at the same time to Kosova were taken Preseva, Medveda, Bujanovac in order to change the ethic structure of Kosova. That is artificially increasing the number of Serbs in Kosova.

Now as far as I understand Serbsia says that was OK with me until we were together now that you have separated I want my land back.

This is completely legitimate demand, provided that Serbia do not conveniently, as it is used to do, forget to give back the lands that she has now, Presheva, Bujanovc, Medveda.

Secondly, By insisting in this Serbia is breaking on of the three rules that Contact Group (INCLUDING RUSSIA):
1. no status as befor 1999,
2. no separation and;
3. no unification with Albania.

Now point one is naturally satisfied.

Point 2 is violated by Serbia-

That opens the path to be violated the point 3.

You take the parts of Raska back we take Presheva valley and unify with Albania.

On thing I do agree with Serbs: Kosova is fake state.

absolutely right.

in regard to the K-albanians, just mention some key-words like "independence", "sovereignty" "wisdom" ... caress their souls with honey-words... and they will be calm - just like little children.

even Mr.Fried knows that UNSC 1244 makes every attempt to "take away" serbian territory impossible.

but he doesn´t say it openly, that´s one of the reasons why I constantly tell our dear friends here that they are being duped.

I am basing my judgments on contemp facts. That is from Tivar to Skodra, Plav and Gucia still the majority is Albanian. That's why I said NYTimeds article of 1880 but same problms- people are still there.

That's right my American friend - we all must keep the Albanians quiet. We must stop them realising the truth so that they don't show their true colours once more by burning Serbian homes and terrorising non Albanians.

How does it feel mr Fried to be stuck in this position?

I personally hope it doesn't come to that, but if it does, I really don't think that many people will be upset over it - though I'd call for a sliver of land in Pec and Decani where the monasteries are to be given to Montenegro, but let's not dwell on land carving just yet.

no, ben. you are basing your judgements on the nationalist irredentist ideology that used to be respected in europe in the 19th century, but not today. there is a reason why politicians in the west are trying to paint their support for kosovo independence as support for struggle for human rights. irredentism has no credibility in the west anymore.
