Kate, how in the world the Kumanovo agrement whom the only purpose is safety or better say keep Serbian army away of any provocation that will led to start another war wich we have seen in the past 20th century,is vital to be change, but,on the other hand resulution 1244 holding back the economy of 2 milion people should not?
I don't understand how things can be changed when it means benefit for Serbia but not for anybody else.

B92, it took me 20 minutes to type it, so let it through please: )

I love it how Serb posters now are all emboldened without knowing what will really on the ground with EULEX. Hopes of Albanians fighting NATO, Serbia joining Nato, Serbia invading are funny.

EULEX will rule the enclaves for the first time; once they are in they will deal with property disputes so Serbs will go to their houses and Albanians to theirs. If Albanian boycott it, EULEX will do what 95% want, simple fact, especially since most have recognized Kosova. Serbs celebrated many times only to have feb 17th happen.

>>>When the geopolitical situation in the world changes, and it inevitably will, Serbia needs to be prepared.

"Šutanovac said that the agreement should be changed because it is “absurd” that the VS’s presence on the administrative line with Kosovo depends on the commanders of the KFOR international peacekeeping forces."

Well Mr. Sutanovac, if KFOR left the administrative zone, what else would they do? The K-Albanian's don't really want them in "Kosova", except for the jobs they provide on their bases where they waste U.S. taxpayers dollars, and the K-Serbs don't need them since they have done absolutely NOTHING for them except placate them with a few village Mayors meetings where they give them a free lunch on the bases so they can experience the wonderful KFOR cuisine. Come on Mr. Sutanovac, if they left the zone, they would have no justification to remain in the area.

the k-a reaction is typically ironoic. not even a week ago i read that k-a wants to create their own "legal" armed forces. from a wide variety of posters of the k-a background/support staff they claim that there are parts of southern serbia (not kosovo -- another part of southern serbia) that they want to take over. they've also laid many claims within other soverign countries like montenegro, macedonia, greece, bulgaria maybe even (its often difficult trying to remember how much of the world the k-a think is thiers). when i put these two variables together, a new k-a army and larger k-a territorial aspirations, i must ask myself who the threat is now. sure, the serbian armies in the past caused problems. the past is over. now it is time to live with the neighbour. it seems that the neighbour wants to be able to take care of his yard all the way up to his fence. its hard to really see a problem with that. at the moment k-a is the newest neighbour to the neighbourhood, and they're the ones that are talking the biggest agressive rhetoric in the whole neighbourhood. i too would want to be able to take care of my fence in such a situation.
further to that, i can't understand the fear in the k-a comments. what is the fear? the us/nato is there, your saviours, protectors, guarentures, feeders, might as well call them gods even. they will certainly stop any serbian army agression before it even gets below the ibar.
or is it a worry that k-a armed forces would not be able to attack above the ibar now, or into pressevo, or anywhere else in serbia?
i ask an honest question, i doubt an honest answer is coming on this bb, but i can always believe in the goodness of others first.
what is the actual fear about the serbian armed forces being able to patrol to their own borders?

There is no intention of putting Serbian troops into Kosovo (not yet anyway), just deploying upto the administrative border instead of 5km or so away.

Alban - Provocation? If Kosovo were given independence, would you still be against Serbia placing it's troops right upto Kosovo's border?

Serbia should request that another buffer zone be created, this time in Kosovo. It's the Albo's who represent the greatest threat to stability in the region with their nationalist dream of greater albania. It was the Albo's not the Serbs who've crossed the administrative border to attack another ethnic group.

Albo's only want to keep the zone so that they can commit more terrorism in Serbia and then run and hide in the zone.

Serbia is preparing to invade North Kosova.

These statements with their intended purpose, could not come at a better time. It shows how dangerous is to make concessions to Serbia. If Serbs think they can use force to annex part of Kosova they are for another big disappointment. Serbian army has left a very long trail of blood in the Ballkans a trail that is still visible to this day. This will never be forgotten
It's the job of any decent human being to remind International Community what Serbian army is capable of doing and rest assure that K-Albanians will never stop preaching about it. Serbian army is a threat that needs to be kept under control for many years to come. Some accuse K-Albanians of always claiming to be victims. You got it right. Kumanova Agreement is staying where it is.

If Kumanova Agreement is revisited in favour of Serbia, then Nato needs to reassure Kosovo with an equal military gesture of some kind, e.g. introduction of sophisticated anti aircraft equipment on this side of the border. These acts will only serve a military build up in the region. Apart from the clique in Belgrade and a few feminists activist in here no one really desires a military build up, let alone a confrontation.
Building of Serbian military bases in the south, namely near Bujanovac, and frequent military exercises in the area, go clearly against everything that Serbia has advocated in public recently. Rhetoric has to be backed up by actions, otherwise it remains in the remit of propaganda and we have had plenty of that from BG.
Serbia needs to go through a serious demilitarisation process and not up the anti of a military build up. This demilitarisation process will need to happen simultaneously with democratisation and demystification processes.
As long as Kosova remains the central issue of the Serbian politics there is no chance of this really happening soon. As we all have witnessed here there is no real desire to shift the debate to Serbia’s internal problems.
In that light Serbia’s neighbours have every right to fear Serbia. Talk about regional stability needs to be followed up responsible state behaviour.

When the geopolitical situation in the world changes, and it inevitably will, Serbia needs to be prepared.
Let there be no doubt that southern Serbia is under military occupation right now, by unfriendly countries that want to use Serbian land as an unrestricted military base and dumping ground.
This will eventually change, friends, and let's not forget where Serbs come from, where is the cradle of their civilization. That place is Kosovo.

The agreement to return troops and police to the province has not been met, and yet there has been no fuss about this from Serbia. They have played along with international troops right down the line, even when their own people and heritage were in peril.

It seems very reasonable to ask for these changes to be made. Surely they should be allowed to defend their own territory when it is clearly, in parts, still under threat?
(kate, 2 December 2008 13:09)

Come now Kate, you know the reason why pristina does not want this to change, because that will be the end of the smuggling from Serbia. Then as well no illegal trade or secession of Presevo. That is why Pristina is sqawking about EUlex and Ground Safety Zone it has been amended before when it was used as a safe haven for UCMUPA fighter and NATO shrank the buffer zone that was the end of that the fighters ran back to Kosovo and turn themselves in. I guess no one remembers that part.

Kate
I hope and believe that Serbian troops never return to Kosovo since they mean trouble only. I think that there should be no change of Kumanovo agreement while the current one is functioning properly and this is for the benefit of Serbia too. Current Serbian budget cannot support Serbia proper let alone involvement in Kosova.
Request of Serbia comes at the time when in Kosova protests are organised. I evaluate this as provocation of Kosovar people, including Serbs
