If Nazi pictures are an attack on democracy, how come that the HDZ government is so silent about a new pro-fascist organisation in Zadar? See this news: http://croatiancrescent.blogspot.com/2008/12/world-war-two-episode-101.html

Its hard to know what exactly they had in mind with that Mike, but you are right it is a relatively recent piece of grafiti.

It is well documented that far right groups such as Davidovic's National Front would go that far, but it could be meant as 'Judas' also, yes.

Either way its offensive and typical of the discouse of the far right and the (usual) lack of condenation from the moderate right on this and on hate language generally is deplorable.

Anyway as far as the subject is concerned (Sanader) I think he's a bit of a autocrat, but for HDZ he is relatively decent.

bganon,

I think I know what graffiti it was, but are you sure it didn't mean "Tadic Judas?" "Tadic Juda"? I thought the same thing, but then realized it might have meant the latter considering the SAA Agreement that was signed.

'Now why were those people charged when Otpor was spraying graffiti around Belgrade saying "He's finished" without a problem?'

ZK hundreds of people from OTPOR were arrested for putting up posters. There are dozens of news reports on the internet where you can see this. I'm truly surprised that you didn't know.

And I have to say I don't remember seeing any grafiti about Milosevic in the style you can see it about Tadic. As you know (I hope) one particular grafiti about Tadic you can see around Belgrade is, 'Tadic Jew'.

Speaks volumes.

When a guy starts a Facebook group called "I bet I can find 5,000 people who dislike Sanader" a few months ago and currently has close to 14,000 members supporting him then of course they will take action to silence him. Check the facebook site http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=9178553158

There is another group now with 80,000 members calling for protests!

Just like those people placing posters around Belgrade claiming Tadic is an enemy of the state. Now why were those people charged when Otpor was spraying graffiti around Belgrade saying "He's finished" without a problem?

It just goes to show how intolerant of freedom of speech these dictators really are.

If Nazi symbols are illegal and banned by law (Redundant), shouldn't the 'checkerboard' also be? this is an honest question, as I am not familiar with the politics as much as I should be.

Oh boohoo! I didn't see anyone jumping up and down like this when the Bulgaro-skopjans made a whole festival out of defacing their neighbour's flags and leadership with nazi symbols.

"[Sanader] said that “there is no satire or games with swastikas or Nazi and ustasha insignia.“

-- Unless they're at government-approved Thompson concerts and/or are aimed at non-Croats.
