Serbian triumph at UN?
This can't be true. After all, I've just read that the Pristina press are claiming an Albanian victory. Ha ha ha ha ha ha!

*Status neutral* means 1244 is dead.
Just think, why the Albanians in Kosova soon will have an army, security services, foreign minister, embassies, customs, etc?

The only thing is for Serbia to make first step and make our day, by claiming partition of north, and all Albanians will unite and serbia will be blamed.

Albania, Kosova, Macedonia, Montenegro, Presheva, like one body as one.

Most foreign diplomats agree that the 6 pt. plan has altered 1244 in that the UN must look on Kosovo as being status neutral. This is a logical conclusion to make since it would otherwise be contradictory to the EULEX position of being Status neutral towards Kosovo. Thank you, Vuk. This, I'm afraid, will cause heads to roll in Belgrade once the fog lifts. Well, I guess Kostunica's fears have been realized after all. There will be celebrations in Prishtina over the weekend to coincide with Flag Day which celebrates Albania's independence in 1912.

To all Albanians, Happy Independence Day (Nov. 28th) to both Albania and Kosova, as well as yesterday's re-affirmation at the UN of Kosova's Independence.

Its a conspiracy I tell you. The western media are deliberately lulling Serbs into a false sense of security, so our guard is let down.

Then they will rip Kosovo away from us forever as they always wanted to.

Yes thats a joke, excuse me for feeling a little chipper.

Negotiations are over. Kosovo is independent. Serbia will never return. The current actions of the UNSC are meant to placate the Serbian opposition, prop up the current government, and open a path to the EU where boundaries will no longer be relevent. Congratulations Kosovo.

>>>>>>>It seems ironic that 'independence' is so orientated around the Albanian nationality. That's another country altogether - so why are there still so many Albanian flags flying?

Don't confuse the flag of Albanians for the flag of Albania. Albanians make 92% and we aren't about to forget everything and invent some sort of separate history to please the 5-7%. Kosovars have fought under that flag with Albanians from other regions since it was first introduced in 1400's, no EU is going to change that. One language (very unique I might not, not a shared one like some others,) one history, same traditions so do the math. Kosova will not be our Montenegro, now matter what a few say or want. The $1 Billion road and electricity grid will formally unite us and cut the cord from Serbia and link to Albania.

>>>>>And the running of the province is in the hands of the internationals who are under strict instruction not to support any move which tries to affirm provincial sovereignty.

Supervised by who??? Please enlighten us as to how the UN will stop US, France, and UK who have veto power over UN decisions.

Serbs got fooled: One police force, one customs one system of justice, something KosovA (as Hillary Clinton says) hasn't had so far and this is 'temporary'. 1244 was there this February as well. Not just that, but Albanians are opposing it officially so now EU must win 'our support' on the ground. Celebrate Serbs in Serbia and Kosovar-Serbs! You won! Oppose it now and kiss your EU dreams goodbye.

most media are only reporting on yesterday's UN SC decision as successfull"unblocking of the deployment of EULEX" ...

in this UN SC decision the status of Serbia is defined wordly as "one of the stakeholders" - and this wording was accepted unanimously by all UN SC members - including Russia. what a triumph for Serbia !!

Today is a symbolic day as it signals the formal end to unilateralism and a triumph for the very concept of international law and order.

Well done Serbia.

"“Agencies are noting that the undefined text of the statement leaves to the side the issue of Kosovo’s independence,” said the BBC, adding that Ban was recommending that EULEX be deployed in Kosovo fully in line with Resolution 1244 and acting under the full authority of the UN, while remaining neutral in status."

This is a key point. Despite what some people are saying on this site, there has been no direct or implied statement that 1244 is status neutral.

The fact is that UNSC Res 1244 reaffirms Serbia's sovereignty and the EULEX mission is acting within that, and therefore must remain status neutral.

Likewise, any elements of the A Plan which are carried forward must be with the accepted UN framework. These will merely be used in their own right and not as part of the plan, which does support independence and was never approved.

There was never any legal recognition of independence and this latest UN move just underlines that. Any parts of the Kosovo constitution which go against the UN accepted standards (ie. the 6 points) will not be allowed to be reflected in the movements of the international presence.

It seems ironic that 'independence' is so orientated around the Albanian nationality. That's another country altogether - so why are there still so many Albanian flags flying?

And the running of the province is in the hands of the internationals who are under strict instruction not to support any move which tries to affirm provincial sovereignty.

Time to return to the negotiating table and sort out a longterm solution which both Serbia and the people of Kosovo can live with.
