Dear Mr. John,
"Let me inform you that the time for compromises has long past. The Albanians have compromised enough, there will be no further compromising, no matter how much Serbia makes veiled threats of war."
Veiled threats of war? Why would Serbia do that if its winning on the diplomatic front? Doesn't the saying go "when diplomacy fails, we go to war"? Isn't it Prishtina that is unhappy with the 6 point plan? Serbia created it, because it forces EULEX to abide by res 1244. So again... why would Serbia make war threats of any kind when Jeremic is getting the Eurocrats to finally respect 1244
"Russia, if you haven't heard, is on the verge of bankruptcy. The price of oil has dropped $100 per barrel, that's right, a short time ago oil was selling for a lofty $147 per barrel but is now a measly $51. In addition the world financial crisis has also struck Russia. A few weeks ago the Russian stock market dropped 20% in one day. As a result, the Russians had to close down their stock market for over a week. Now, how is Russia going to be able to help Serbia, if they can't even help themselves."
I agree the oil prices are dropping, however Russia has made investments in Serbia that it will want to protect in case of war. Think about it... Your nation invested millions in setting up vital infrastructure in a foreign country and you are risking loosing it completely because of foreign occupation. Will you just sit there and do nothing? Again, I'm talking about the investments already made that will need to be protected. The same thing goes for USA, they invested a lot in Camp Bondsteel, if Serbia or its allies try to attack it, it will be bound to strike back. Its caring for its people, its investments. This is how capitalism works, its a materialistic approach to problem solving.
"It would serve you well, DJ, to read some unbiased international news sources so as to avoid making embarrassingly absurd statements. If you haven't figured it out yet, Serbia is about to be badly cheated by Russia in its sale of the oil business in Nis. "
My media sources include (but not limited to): BBC World, CNN, B92, RussiaToday, Speigel, Reuters. Am I purely eastern or western biased in my media selection? hmmm. As for the Nis deal, its a negotiated settlement, whatever deal is reached is up to the sides. Whether they are getting ripped off or not is not for me to decide.
"Also, The UN SC today decided to treat Kosova as status neutral in the future, by creating a change in UN Res. 1244 and thereby no longer recognizing the sovereignty and integrity of Serbia's borders. All this was done with the unwitting blessing of your FM Vuk Jeremic."
UNSC decided to treat EULEX as status neutral, Kosovo status is still in limbo my friend. Don't confuse EULEX status and Kosovo status. Kosovo is a Serbian province, whereas EULEX is a rule of law mission. It can either be status neutral or status biased. It is status neutral :)
"Good luck,DJ, with friends like Russia and Jeremic, Serbia doesn't need any enemies."
Good lock to you too Mr. John, biting the hand that feeds you has repercussions and you are seeing them now with EU/US falling back on their promises. The Athissari plan is taking a dirt nap.
