Dear Mr. John,

"Let me inform you that the time for compromises has long past. The Albanians have compromised enough, there will be no further compromising, no matter how much Serbia makes veiled threats of war."

Veiled threats of war? Why would Serbia do that if its winning on the diplomatic front? Doesn't the saying go "when diplomacy fails, we go to war"? Isn't it Prishtina that is unhappy with the 6 point plan? Serbia created it, because it forces EULEX to abide by res 1244. So again... why would Serbia make war threats of any kind when Jeremic is getting the Eurocrats to finally respect 1244

"Russia, if you haven't heard, is on the verge of bankruptcy. The price of oil has dropped $100 per barrel, that's right, a short time ago oil was selling for a lofty $147 per barrel but is now a measly $51. In addition the world financial crisis has also struck Russia. A few weeks ago the Russian stock market dropped 20% in one day. As a result, the Russians had to close down their stock market for over a week. Now, how is Russia going to be able to help Serbia, if they can't even help themselves."

I agree the oil prices are dropping, however Russia has made investments in Serbia that it will want to protect in case of war. Think about it... Your nation invested millions in setting up vital infrastructure in a foreign country and you are risking loosing it completely because of foreign occupation. Will you just sit there and do nothing? Again, I'm talking about the investments already made that will need to be protected. The same thing goes for USA, they invested a lot in Camp Bondsteel, if Serbia or its allies try to attack it, it will be bound to strike back. Its caring for its people, its investments. This is how capitalism works, its a materialistic approach to problem solving.

"It would serve you well, DJ, to read some unbiased international news sources so as to avoid making embarrassingly absurd statements. If you haven't figured it out yet, Serbia is about to be badly cheated by Russia in its sale of the oil business in Nis. "

My media sources include (but not limited to): BBC World, CNN, B92, RussiaToday, Speigel, Reuters. Am I purely eastern or western biased in my media selection? hmmm. As for the Nis deal, its a negotiated settlement, whatever deal is reached is up to the sides. Whether they are getting ripped off or not is not for me to decide.

"Also, The UN SC today decided to treat Kosova as status neutral in the future, by creating a change in UN Res. 1244 and thereby no longer recognizing the sovereignty and integrity of Serbia's borders. All this was done with the unwitting blessing of your FM Vuk Jeremic."

UNSC decided to treat EULEX as status neutral, Kosovo status is still in limbo my friend. Don't confuse EULEX status and Kosovo status. Kosovo is a Serbian province, whereas EULEX is a rule of law mission. It can either be status neutral or status biased. It is status neutral :)

"Good luck,DJ, with friends like Russia and Jeremic, Serbia doesn't need any enemies."

Good lock to you too Mr. John, biting the hand that feeds you has repercussions and you are seeing them now with EU/US falling back on their promises. The Athissari plan is taking a dirt nap.

If I can put it quite frankly if any solution is reached without the agreement of Kosova's institutions would mean war. The war will not affect me personally but will have a great impact in the region.
(EA, 26 November 2008 20:01)

Let me put it quite frankly to you now EA, you don't have PERMISSION to start another war. Yes PERMISSION. The '99 war would not have happened if KLA didn't have the backing of US/NATO in advance. Otherwise it would have been a suicide mission as VS >> KLA. KLA know what their odds are in such a war and they will consider their risks carefully.

NATO is trying to cut its losses in Iraq/Afghanistan do you really think they will come to your aid like that once again? In fact with EULEX (regardless of 6 point plan being adopted or not) the Americans are just dumping the responsibility (political and military) on to the laps on Europeans who are also in financial crisis (look at Germany which is now officially in recession). How much support do you think you will get out of them? Do you really think these governments will really want to further waste their taxpayers money on Kosovo instead of their own economy which needs as much liquidity as possible?

Consider also that Russia has financial interests in Serbia (south stream project, NIS, real estate etc) and they will protect their investments. This is an important point mind you. So to expect them to be sitting on the fence again is ludicrous.

Please don't jump to suggestions of war because you are loosing on the diplomatic front, because A, what I said above and B, there is still a possibility of a compromise.

Ron,

The next resolution will be 'Serbia reconize Kosovo'. I mean what choice do Serbia have ? Obviosly Croatia will be a EU-member before Serbia. Croatia will block Serbias Eu-entery if Serbia dosen't reconize Kosovo. This was just a scenario of what could happend. Or when Kosovo builts up an army and a strong state then Serbia will have to forget Kosovo forever. In any scenario Kosovo will forever be independent. And with that I mean whole Kosovo and not just south or north. If N.mitrovica even try's to partition from rest of Kosovo then Preshevo valley will also partition from Serbia. There is no question about it. Why should albanians live under serbian rule when serbs don't want to live under albanian rule ?

But anyway I strongly belive that this six-points will not pass UNSC. US will once again support us then Eulex will have to deploy on the basis of the Ahtisaari-plan and the serbs have to sit tightly and look down. Like usual ;)

But if this six points do pass the UN then Kosovar authoritys will not respect EUlex or work with it. Kosovo instutuions will fullfill their work as usual(according to the constutuion of Kosovo) and Eulex will have no space in Kosovo.

If UN want to have a face they will not adopt this six points. Or else they will realise on the ground(reality) that they have no power in Kosovo any more.

The six plan = partition. Serbs get north, Albanians will get south. But there are some problems, which I don't know how they will be solved, perhaps somebody here could explain (reasonably and sound) the following matters:

- What happens with the Serbs in other enclaves?
- What happens with Albanians in S. Serbia? (or we see here double standards?)
- What about the Albanians in Macedonia?
- What about the Albanians in Montenegro?

One thing we know for sure, Albanians would not wanna be under Serbia under no circumstances, or you could kill them all and have Kosovo back after it had seen the light of freedom. The same is with Serbs in Kosovo, which would not want to live under Kosovo flag!

This will also put into question Bosnia, as it is, frankly there is a lot of tension, some forces are pushing for division, with all this we end up to the same idea which Milosevic started, that is, Big Serbia.

Anyways, this is how the situation looks like. But if Serbs, manage to do this, and create big Serbia(well they need that part of Croatia too, but maybe later :D ), then I must say that Serbs have won all 4 wars, only if they achieve all this...

When the EU arrives in Kosovo in full force, this will be the end of Kosovo Albanians' dream of a fully independent Kosovo. It appears that the smart approach of the Serbs without anger will win over the Albanian approach of entitlement. Way to go Serbia! Now, it appears that Kosovo's Albanians will have to adjust to the "REALITY on the GROUND!"

The rest of Albanian inhabited territory would still be independent. In case the division takes effect, the north would get attached to Serbia and most probably the rest of Kosova will unite with Albania.

EULUX can only deploy in Kosovo in the framework of 1244. This is a good thing!

Serbs have to accept that Kosovo is being ruled by UN.

Albanians have to accept that Kosovo is part of Serbia.

And hey, if even Germans in Belgium can have a good life... why can't Serbs and Albanians in a Kosovo that is part of Serbia?

Get over this Balkan thing and join EU as soon as possible!

Dear Mr.
