The Russian stockmarket fell 20% in one day a few weeks ago and Russia had to close down its stockmarket for a week in order to establish a balance of orders. India and China faired even worse. Are these the kind of countries Serbia wants to depend on!!!
(Michael John, 25 November 2008 16:40)

Are you kidding. USA stock market fell 50% since september and gdp is shrinking. Germany is gasping for the air. And lets not talk about democracy when money talk. Overall person is person, no matter what religion or nation he/she is, so if we gonna count votes for or against, then tip is swinging toward Serbia big time. Even your country counts votes same way 1 for 1. not $ for $

The reason why, Peggy, is that the EU pays the bills for countries like Serbia, that desperately wishes to join the EU.

Why not ask China or India or perhaps a nearly bankrupt Russia. Recall, the price of oil has fallen $100 per barrel, yep, oil was as high as $147 per barrel this past summer, now it is around $50.

If you had a clue what EU is, you would know that EU such as FIFA for instance cannot recognize countries. EU is an economic union of sovereign nations that harmonize certain policies.

The fact that Serbia wants to be part of this Club will have to oblige its leaders to change minds.

Yes, the most populous, and least democratic, the second most populous but one of the poorest, some rogue states, like Venezuela and a number of corall reef banana republics "support Serbia" but this is no glory...

Jan of Denmark,

Are you seriously trying to say that European citizens are all on Albanian side? That is wishful thinking and plus more.
How arrogant are you to presume that you can speak for all of Europe? I know that some governments have recognized Kosovo, but this may not the will of their people.

I can also say that billions more are on Serbian side by including the citizens of all the countries which have not recognized Kosovo but that would be speaking for others.

Why would European governments matter more than the rest of the world?

Nice try.

Hruz, argue your point with Jan as she's the one throwing around numbers like they mean something. I am only responding with a similar argument, just to demonstrate Serbia is very well supported. Whatever the population of the US or EU, China has far more people than both and is a strong supporter of Serbia. India also supports Serbia and those countries with Russia represent half the world's population, which will dwarf anything anyone can throw at us.

The EU does not recognise Kosovo and neither does it expect Serbia to. That has already been made clear although it seems that the Albanians are losing favour with them lately. Wonder why?

1. The 6.5 billion (which I doubt) does not know nor care who are Serbs and where this spot on the map is, let alone supporting this dot on the map

2. The EU has not 200 but 492.8 million citizens, following the 2007 accessions of Romania and Bulgaria

3. Like it or not, Serbia is located in Europe, which will sooner or later bind them to behave as such instead of some ex Soviet republic...

The way I see EULEX function in north of Kosova is;
1.Function same as UNMIK – support Serbian criminal, gangster and terrorist gangs. As a result of this is movement of Serbian population form north of Kosova to Serbia.
2.Implement in full EULEX mandate – Bring life to ordinary Serbs living there, as they are living abnormal life, starting with arrests of all Serbian mafia in north of Kosova in cooperation with Serbia.
All this I think could happen if there is a agreement at UN.

I hope and wish for a better life for ordinary Serbs living in north of Kosova.

Ivanović said that the so-called six-point plan which the UN and Serbia have agreed on is based on respect for the UN Security Council’s Resolution 1244.

Exactly:Serbia and UN agreed on 6 point plan without Prishtina so you go ahead, and UN and implement it now without Prishtina if you can.Prishtina has got respect for UN as well, but Prishtina was disrespected by UN and Serbia by not involving Prishtina in negotiation.
Let me correct you Mr Ivanovic Serbia never had respect for UN unless it is in Serbia's interest so stop insulting our intelligence, and as far as Serb survival in Kosova i personally do not believe you, your survival i believe that.

The status of Kosovo, Ivanović continued, is not definitely solved and this is a “transitional period,” adding that the status must be debated again, while the fact that 52 countries have recognized the Kosovo Albanians' declaration "cannot be ignored".

Help me out here, what are you saying,or do you want me to tell you.Kosova did sit down and offered negotiated solution but Serbia wasn't really interested, also Kosova'r people will never give up their independence of Kosova never, never we fought hard and made big sacrifices for what we enjoy today and that's freedom. Can't put a price on freedom Kosovars know that, also appreciate their freedom.Ta

Even your country counts votes same way 1 for 1. not $ for $
