"If Obama has chosen Rahm Emmanual for his chief of staff why would he choose the complete opposite for his secretary of state? "

What opposite??? Kosova is 0.0005% of US policy and it's a considered a done deal. Done! The details will be worked out in the next few years by low level people. The Clinton people are taking over Obama's government and their legacy is at stake. One word from Clark, Allbright, Richardson, Bill or Hillary, Hoolbrooke and many other smaller players and it's policy.

"Thirty-one of the 47 people so far named to [Obama] transition or staff posts have ties to the Clinton administration."

At least two member of Serbian Caucus congratulated Kosova (Wexler was one) for independence. It's people who meet once a year, get a few $1000 from Serbs in in Rahm's case he had Serbs in his districts. When a few members opposed independence Rahm's name was not on that list. Guess why? Wesley Clark, Congressman Engel, Schumer and other targeted Albanians in ads to support Obama, and we raised over $3 million for him (others for McCain as well)

See this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G2ozkonDxS8

USA needs allies in Europe: UK, Poland and Albanians are 100% in so far! Turkey, Checzs, FYROM are in as well.

On the practical reason: Obama should chose a Secretary of State who can travel to entire Bosnia or Serbia without a danger to get to much of rotten tomatoes. Wait and see, will he make this kind of a mistake.

Let's not forget that the last time she came "under sniper fire" in Bosnia.
Seriously, she only mis spoke when she told the world that story.

Would Obama send her back to that place which holds such bad memories for her?

If Obama has chosen Rahm Emmanual for his chief of staff why would he choose the complete opposite for his secretary of state?

Does anyone think that Madeline Albright will have as much influence on Obama as his chief of staff?

The u.s. under our new prez-elect will continue to promote human rights and stabilty in the balkans. We will not suddenly turn to support the usual milosevic (or "post" milosevic) regimes, lies, trickery, bullying, etc. it doesn't matter so much which is our new sect. of state, altho i do hope it is hillary, who is incredibly bright, strong, but can also be quite a diplomat when she chooses.

i do have great faith in obama and continue to wear his buttons, t-shirts, etc. it is the best news we have had in at LEAst 8 years, and also great news for the world. it is marvelous, it is a revelation!

i wish that other countries and their societies would learn from both our mistakes and our victories, from our renewed support for human rights and inclusiveness. it is one thing we really need to export.

Believe in HOPE, not hate.

thank you.

If the agressor in the war against Yugoslavia will start to pay for their onslaught massmurders and the flattening of our infrastructure (they carfully avoided to bomb foreign owned industries) then relations would prosper by it self, give another 10 years, but USA will be a banana republic in limbo by then...

It looks like the Albanian visitors are out in full force again today defending their masters, giving the impression that they are the favorite student in the US class, pretending that they are more important than Serbia, and so on and so on (same old same old). Popularity is a relative thing that can go as quickly as it came (the same applies to "friendship")and you people had your 15 minutes of glory.

The major problem with Hillary is, she wants to be the one who says the last word. Barack knows that, John Kerry is also a possibility. I would not bet either way. We - like many from the States - do NOT like Hillary for numerous reasons. The 78-day "humanitarian bombing" is just one of many.

On the practical reason: Obama should chose a Secretary of State who can travel to entire Bosnia or Serbia without a danger to get to much of rotten tomatoes. Wait and see, will he make this kind of a mistake.

are you talking about the Army(VJ) made most of K-Serbs massacre innocent K-Albanian civilians, and at the latter left Kosova and Serbs "victoriously".
I think that you should leave that behind, apologise and move ahead, or if you prefere, you can still stick to SPS platform and VJ victoty against NATO

"Change has come to America and that means not to meddle in other people's business. Serbia is a legitimate country why would Barack screw with them."

No one is trying to screw you, they will simply not let you be a bully: you must change, apologize AND recognize. Turns out Hillary woudl have won even more votes than Obama based on exit poll. Change has come to America, that is why Madeline Albright is appointed as Obama's chief representative at the G20 meeting:
"President-elect Barack Obama's surrogates at this weekend's global economic summit in Washington will be former Iowa Republican U.S. Rep. Jim Leach and former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright" http://www.freep.com/article/20081113/NEWS07/811130406/1009

Nice try Vuk but quit trying to deceive the people. Obama just named Madeline Albright as one of his representatives to the G20 economic summit.
http://www.allheadlinenews.com/articles/7013004713
This administration obviously will be no friendlier to Serbs, perhaps will be even worse, than the Bush administration. Let us not forget that Albright is the one that dropped bombs on Serbia for 78 days around the clock, a blatant war crime.
The only saving grace is that the US is more and more in debt, now their auto industry is completely bankrupt, and they will not be able to be the policeman of the world any more. Russia is getting stronger, and Serbia should stick close to Russia, that is our main friend and ally who is defending our interests. Let's not pretend that the US is our friend, because right now they are not. Obama is surrounding himself with the same anti-Serb hate mongers that Clinton had in his administration. Let's buckle down for a long hard struggle, it took us 500 years to oust the Turks, I doubt we will have to wait that long to liberate Kosovo.
Cheers!!

It is a good thing to hear that the Serbian govt. finally wants to have better relations with the US. It's one step forward but it should be backed so that it has good relations with its neighbors as well, and relent on interfering in Kosovo's international relations, as well as realizing that Serbia can be a positive partner but not a leader in the region when countries such as Croatia, Bulgaria, Turkey, Greece that are stronger do not even say that. This can be a good thing, and hopefully the region will come on top as more prosperous after this economic crisis relents its grip in the world.

She met with Obama yesterday and we know Obama cannot 'consider' and not appoint, Hillary is not an average politician. A snub would divide the democrats even more (she was already snubbed for VP)

Albanez it can happen again a snubb if you are not willing to follow the policy set forth. Why do you think he did not choose her as VP? If you don't play the game then you don't get to play. Alot of Americans do not like her and that is why she was not choosen. She will not be Sec of State maybe something esle. Change has come to America and that means not to meddle in other people's business. Serbia is a legitimate country why would Barack screw with them. Serbia defeated in 1999? ...well, I don´t know what kind of defeat he is talking about, when this allegedly most powerful military organisation was not capable of destroying more than 15 tanks in 78 days of merciless bombing!

And Serbia is a regional leader??? Who are you leading? You don't get along with anyone.

As for US relationships: Jeremic, when talking to the next US Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, you might want to use the word KosovA like she does.

Mr. Jeremic has forgotten that problem lies with Serbian policy not American Administration.
So, if Serbia improves it's Human Rights Record, Cooperates with ICTY, Fights high level of corruption and

I tend to always have my doubts about election promises and changes to US foreign policy but since this coming US administration so strongly campaigned for change, everyone should be expecting it and in a way demanding it otherwise they will be exposed as just another bunch of liars.

The Bush administration was a complete failure and it should be realised that dictating terms does not work in this day and age. Negotiations and compromise is the only way and if the new administration only fulfils half of its promises, then Serbia should benefit somewhat.

The Albanians did benefit this time around as they were the only people prepared to greet Bush as a hero whereas the rest of the world greeted him with large protests.
