This increase does not even match the rate of inflation or the weak dinar; even with ten percent pensioners would have more money but less things they would be able to buy with it.

Alas, this unnatural coalition continues to make cuts on the neediest people while it multiplies the number of government ministries to outlandish proportions. Adding insult to injury it unilateraly cuts tariffs on foreign goods - thereby endangering Serbian industry and agriculture.

This coalition's greatest priority is niether the poverty that chokes cities, nor the corruption that chokes the entire society- instead it is that wealthy Belgraders may one day holiday in European destinations without having to shell out a few euros for a visa.

At the end of the day if Krkobabic knows what pride is he will do the right thing and bring this coalition down. However if he is bought and paid for, he should not write cheques he can not cash.

Normally I'd support pensioners demands for a higher pension.

But its tighten the belt time I'm afriad. If Krkobabic wants out of government he should politely be shown the door.

He can either support the government from the backbenches or attempt to force new elections - in which he, and his sponsors from SPS would lose their seats.

Politics is cruel, but Krkobabic has to know where this road leads. For him its the road to nowhere. He should be given a promise that a 10 percent increase will be given end 2009 / 2010.
