Lol. A libretarian is not restricted to the ultra-right. Some members of the American democratic party, i.e. Mike Gravel one of the people who sought the Democratic presidential nomination.

Funnmy how you love to call them reject republicans. It seems to me that "these" reject republicans were correct to oppose the bombing of Serbia, the war in Iraq and other interventions the U.S. has led.

No I am not a fraid of the UN. I just view it as an utterly incompetent and useless organizations when it comes to politics or international disputes -- it should stick to what it knows best running UNICEF.

No, I do not support the gun lobby. I really have no opinion on gun control.

I am not a U.S. citizens, there's no point. And anyways since my views are that the power of government should be restricted I favour the limited of power of all governments -- federal, centralized, regional or other.

You don't want this discussion because you can't have a normal debate.

No. I'm happy Obama won. Because McCain would be terrible for the world as he is the msot interventionist major politician in the U.S..

In light of recent growing evidence which points to corrupt practices in the last election (various forms of vote rigging especially by US and German connivance), I feel it would be just and right that a new free and fair election should be called soon.

I won't get into the debate of who is right or wrong on the topic of new elections but one thing is for sure, if they allow EULEX in it will be the beginning of the end for the Serbs there.

You see, Res. 1244 was meant to allow Serbia to send police back to Kosovo to guard religious sites etc. That has not happened nor any other part of this resolution honoured. We have an important resolution like this and nobody is sticking to it because America won't allow it. They obviously had no intention of ever keeping their word.

What makes anyone here think that once EULEX is deployed, even if it say status neutral, that Athisaari plan won't be applied in Serbian areas as well? How is Serbia going to prevent this when they can't even insist of Resolution 1244 being adhered to?

According to General L MacKenzie Resolution 1244 was signed by never intended to be adhered to. EULEX will be just another piece of paper to them. So signing EULEX is just the end of Serbian rule of law there forever.

If EULEX steps out of line, what is Serbia going to do about it? That's the bottom line here.

If anyone here can answer that I would be amazed.

Yaroslav I am well aware of who 'libetarians' are and what they believe in. I know full well of the ultra right credentials of some leading libetarians and other reject Republicans.

I bet you are afraid of the UN aren't you? You support the gun lobby by any chance? You rail against the federal government?

Sorry Yaroslav I'm not interested in continuing this discussion with you. Better go find a commie to fight against.

You sure must be annoyed that Obama won. Too bad.

bganon,

Where are your democratic credentials then? You are claiming that I am ultra-right but in reality you know nothing about me. I am a Libretarian and none of the parties in Serbia express this view point. If you can make a boldfaced claim that I am ultra-right then I have every right to call you a Cedomite.

Franly, your pathetic for trying to post that you have some kind of superiority over me in your post.

Just a few corrections G17 are not Keynesian, if you even know what that is, they are closer to Monetarism or Neo Liberal economics.

Just because he wasn;t convicted by the Hague does not mean he is not a war criminal. The simple fact is Captain Dragan is a war criminal and he would boast of killing civilians in the early 90s. But, you, refuse to admit this because of his associations with your idol Djindjic.

Read the old DOS economic platform, it was crafted by G-17+. It has some aspects of neo-liberalism, but it is a Keynesian text and if one looks at some fo their actions and there views on spedning they are Keynesians.

G-17+ are leftists. Keynesianism is a leftist economic policy. DS are leftists and they are members of Socialist International, Socialism is a leftist ideology and only leftists are allowed membership. Not only that but their economic views are largely leftist.

Again insulting me by calling me ultra-right. The simple fact is you have a distorted political view and can't see what is leftist and what isn't andytihng not conforming to you view must be ultra-right.

The fact that Kostunica said do nothing proves my point. It shows he was not obsessed with it and allowed them to pursue economic and other reformsa -- which Kostunica and his party were a part of in the post-Oct 5 experience. The way you talked about Kostunic one would think that these enver happenned.

Kostunica might not be an economic expert, but at least he isn't the one enforcing terrible leftist economic policies that have made the current economic situation in Serbia worst then it could be in the time of global crisis. Something that can not be said for the Keynesians of G-17+ and the Communist, I mean "Socailsit", International members DS and SPS.

Yaroslav

You try to paint everything in your own terms because you fail to see anything inbetween. Thus because you disagree with me I must automatically be a supporter of LDP. Frankly, thats pathetic.

Just a few corrections G17 are not Keynesian, if you even know what that is, they are closer to Monetarism or Neo Liberal economics.

Captain Dragan is not a war criminal. He went to the Hague to testify and was not arrested. He has been charged by a Croatian court. I'm not a huge fan of Croatian justice, but I can see that you believe a man is guilty until you suspect him of being innocent. So much for your democratic credentials.

DS and G17 are not leftists. If you consider them leftists it surely means you are are one of those clueless ultra right wingers, which probably explains your simple minded views and inability to see differences in position.

Kosovo came to the forefront of the political scene in 2008!! What nonsense! Kosovo has been at the forefront of the Serbian political scene for years. Kostunica didn't have any problem telling Djindjic that he should not try to push the Kosovo issue with the internationals 5 / 6 years ago. Oh no Kostunica said 'do nothing'.
Which is not surprising really Kostunica's whole political experience in Serbia has been one of sitting there, spitting bile and doing nothing.

Marko perfectly awful of the Serbian people to have excercised their right to vote for Tadic as President. Thats evidence of something bad??? And Kostunica, knowing something about the economy, please don't make us laugh. Even the man himself would admit that economics isn't his strong point.

Not really strong arguments by either of you.

Yaroslav

pre 15 godina

So Kostunica's actions regarding Stojkovic are a reason to spread the absurd claims you make?

Then how come Cedomites like you do not do the same to Djindjic who in the early 90s broadly boasted of traveling to Pale to meet Karadzic. Or the fact that to overthrow Milosevic, Djindjic built ties with war criminal Captain Dragan.

You apply a double standard. You do not criticize Djindjic for worst judgements of characters and actions then Kostunica. You people have a pathological hatred for Kostunica because he chose to no longer allow terrible Keynesian economists of G-17+ and members of Communist, I mean Socialist, Internationals like DSS to walk over him. This pathological hatred comes from the fact that you hate the fact that Kostunica stands in the way of your leftist desires.

Lol. Just like Kostunica, Djindjic abondoned many of his friends. After October 5, did Djindjic ever talk about his friends Captain Dragan and Radovan Karadzic who he loved in the early 90s but when it was bad for his opolitical careers he tried to keep a mood in which one would believe such asscoaitions were non-existant.

If Djindjic can abondon his friends, who are criminals and scum -- but not only them but others from his past, why can't Kostunica?

Absurd. JUL members joined all parties, not just DSS. Many of the financeers of the G-17+ are JUL members -- and G-17+ seems to have taken the bulk of JUL members. Not only that but if anything G-17+ is the descendant of JUL since they are both basicallty "tycoon parties", have power in government disproportionate to their actual support (G-17+ would likely enver obtain more then 5% in a vote now).

Kostunica nmever became obsessed with Kosovo. His views were always the same. The only thing that changed was the timeline, Kostunica had the same views on kosovo in 2008 as 2000. The simple fact is in 2008 these views came to the forefront of the Serbian political scene.

Furthermore. The security forces were the only areas that the leftists in DS and G-17+ would allow DSS to control. If one looks at the economic mnistries, all the major opnes are controlled by G-17+.

Furthermore. Given the distribution of ministries and the difference in the policy and stances of leftist G-17+ and DSS, even if this alledged "obsession" was not present, the DSS couldn't of affected the decisions you speak off.

Of course you will support the SNS more then DSS, the SNS is to the left of Kostunica.

And of course you will vote for SPS. You are a leftist, and you will vote for SPS as they are major leftists. Especially if the plans that existed since the early 90s in some DS leaders that the party should merge with SPS once Slobo is gone -- such still exists in DS leaders.

DSS needs serious reform and Kostunica must step down. If not they are doomed to return to the 'van party' they started out as.

If any one needs serious reform, your leftist parties do. The simple fact is Kostunica's DSS will never become a van party and will always have at least 10%. You leftists on the otherhand should do something smart and get rid of your van parties like SPS and G-17+.

Yaroslav, Great post indeed there is so much that the DS wants to forget-namely they did not quit with Kostunica; Kostunica quit with the DS.

Now they talk about how he destroyed the country like they talked about the SPS. They forget that Serbia has had consecutive DS presidencies, they forget that they and the G17 have been hamming up the economic ministries for the last years; it is all Kostunica's fault for not wanting to drink champagne with Solana.

Had Kostunica won in May, the Russian oil deal and the H-P highway would not fallen apart and Serbia would not unilaterally drop tariffs on European goods as Serbia's economy collapses. maybe he could turn it around.

Nikola, why shouldn't Nikolic work with Kostunica in this; is it not time to unite the right?

bganon

pre 15 godina

Yaroslav I think you are the one confused. Confused by the fact that somebody can actually see something and learn from his mistakes and change.

I did support Kostunica to some degree, then as time went on I saw who he was and what kind of people he was surrounding himself with. I spoke with people who knew and were friends with Kostunica years ago. His reaction to being told by his former disident friends (opponents of Tito) that his Justice Minister Stojkovic was a judge who sentenced his friends to Goli Otok was one of alleged surprise. Kostunica said he would 'look into it'. Suffice to say that Stojkovic remained as Minister of Justice and Kostunica no longer sees his dissident friends. Today Kostunica does not see many friends made since then. He turned his back on Vladeta Jankovic a fellow founder member of DSS and a man of great intellect that Kostunica respects. He turned his back on many other friends as well. Along the way something went wrong, as former members of JUL joined DSS he became obsessed with the security services, he became preoccupied with Kosovo, thinking that his place in history was to be the saviour of the Serbs and this was the issue to do it upon. At the same time old DSS members got frozen out of the decisions.

The man is deluded and quite frankly, dangerous. But let me end your confusion I will support today's SPS and SNS before DSS. DSS needs serious reform and Kostunica must step down. If not they are doomed to return to the 'van party' they started out as.

Thanks Nikola, I know you are only stating your beliefs, but your opinion with your political beliefs means more to me than support by somebody from the 'democratic' block.

If Nikolic does manage to change the politics of the right, in my opinion he will have a very important part in history. In many ways he will be a much more dangerous opponent to DS and their allies.

And, despite my politics, I welcome that. Whether that is because I'm 'democratic' or 'patriotic' other people can decide.

Nikola

pre 15 godina

Kostunica really needs to stop. I really respect the man as a Serb Patriot. However, as a politician he is not capable of handling it anymore. He is way to thick headed. Me being a Kosovo Serb, really appreciate his efforts for his commitment to the biggest violation of international law since the annexation of Sudetenland. However there are other aspects of the regular life of Serbians that he is not answering to.

I agree with Bganon, move over DSS and let the SNS become the voice of Conservative Serbia. Kostunica should retire from Serbian politics, have his party join a coalition with the SNS and have some say in what happens.

Clearly people like duh, don't have attention spans. The current government debated it's conditions for EULEX to be accweptable -- conditions the EU has now agreed to-- and it is the current government that has passed several minor amendments to legislation regarding Kosovo.

So clearly, his claims are false.

This bganon character is confused.

Earlier in the year and even as recently as August he made soem posts slightly praising Kostunica, saying he went radical after February 17.

Now, he says Kostunica nearly destroyed the country. This is an absurd claim, most often made by Cedomites. If he really destroyed the country then maybe they would love to go back and live in 2000 and choose to vote for Milosevic.

If Kostunica destroyed the country, then how come under his premiership did unemployment start to go down, the economy started growing faster then udner their hero Djindjic?

Kostunica's 2000 coup contributed more to Kosovo "independence" than any act by any other person. His entire career was made possible by the "foreign factor" (namely western support and funding for his coup).

bganon

There is no appetite for new elections coming from anywhere and yet he is trying to capitalise on anti government sentiment in a time where the government has the support of more people than ever before. Go figure.

Kosovo wasn't the issue for Kostunica, not really. What is really the issue is Kostunica desperately needing to be against something and to focus exclusively on that thing, even if everything else goes to hell in the meantime.

One might say that his obsessive demand for repeat elections replaces the Kosovo issue now.

If I was partisan I would say - great lets have elections and watch Kostunica get wiped out, as he deserves. And lets see the right wing rabble wiped out and replaced by SNS. However, the good of the country comes first. Repeat elections would not help Serbia and Kostunica's support of these elections just goes to show he does not represent Serbia's interests. In fact he is so inept he doesn't even know how to represent his own party's interests...

Thank heavens he is not in government any more. Its a small miracle that he didn't ruin the country completely as Prime Minister.

Wow no debate on Kosovo for 4 months. What a contrast from when Kostunica was in charge and everytime parliament met --sometimes even special called elections--they could not conduct any business because they needed to vote on a new way to say they were against the Independence of Kosovo.

Kostunica's 2000 coup contributed more to Kosovo "independence" than any act by any other person. His entire career was made possible by the "foreign factor" (namely western support and funding for his coup).

To be against Kostunica's stupid policies does not make one anti Serb any more than it makes you anti Serb for being against LDP.

But since you are a newcomer here I'll explain to you that I'm not an LDP supporter, nor have I ever voted for that party.

Yaroslav

This bganon character is confused.

Earlier in the year and even as recently as August he made soem posts slightly praising Kostunica, saying he went radical after February 17.

Now, he says Kostunica nearly destroyed the country. This is an absurd claim, most often made by Cedomites. If he really destroyed the country then maybe they would love to go back and live in 2000 and choose to vote for Milosevic.

If Kostunica destroyed the country, then how come under his premiership did unemployment start to go down, the economy started growing faster then udner their hero Djindjic?

Yaroslav

Clearly people like duh, don't have attention spans. The current government debated it's conditions for EULEX to be accweptable -- conditions the EU has now agreed to-- and it is the current government that has passed several minor amendments to legislation regarding Kosovo.

So clearly, his claims are false.

Kostunica should retire from Serbian politics, have his party join a coalition with the SNS and have some say in what happens.

bganon

pre 15 godina

Whether that is because I'm 'democratic' or 'patriotic' other people can decide.

bganon

Too bad.

In light of recent growing evidence which points to corrupt practices in the last election (various forms of vote rigging especially by US and German connivance), I feel it would be just and right that a new free and fair election should be called soon.
