What's the problem?? This is just Sharia Law enforced in an Islamic society. We have been told to respect and accept all cultures. Australian social engineers have outlawed all cultural, racial or religious discrimination.

Canadian,

Let's not forget that the US did attempt to intervene in Somalia in 1993, only to suffer a number of brutal casualities (I believe the number was 18, some/all of whose bodies were dragged through the streets of Mogadishu). The attempt to intervene was extremely unpopular with the American people, and President Clinton, then in the first year of his first term in office, predictably withdrew American forces. With the US out, you could hardly expect NATO to enter in its place.

However, I do agree that it is in places such as this that international forces are most needed at the moment. The scope of atrocities in places such as Rwanda, Darfur and Congo dwarf that of much smaller conflict areas like Bosnia, Croatia and Kosovo. And when you consider that the US has invested so much of its military and financial strength in a pointless and downright criminal war in Iraq, it makes neglected places like Africa all the more heart-breaking.

One thousand spectators. Seems like this act had the support of the community. I am sure that this is just one star in a constellation of practices that have social sanction in Somalia.

Africans have, are and always will be killing each other for every possible reason to be thought of. I would prefer not to think that my countrymen are going off to die in some stupid tribal war in Africa. Africa has a LONG way to go before it catches up to the rest of the world.

Where is NATO's intervention in Somalia, a country and people who have suffered far worse than the Albanians in Kosovo.

It all goes back to "national interest" for the US, EU and UN, and Somalia has no Value to the EU and US, human life is cheap, but Oil, gas and so on Is not!
