The often used idiom "the train has left the station" means that some process is already under way and there is no point neither in struggling against it nor in ignoring it. Co-operation in the process is the option left, time for objections is over. And those who still can't understand or realize that the process is on are said to be left at the station or platform. Very often these people work hard as a means to ignore that the train is already gone and the station is empty.

So, I take my chance and tastelessly exaggerate this tri-party program and their motive: it is like if three French parties in opposition would co-operate in resisting the French Revolution.

Then about pity. Yes, it is a hard ball in the Balkans. Something ...very problematic. To have pity means to show compassion, to feel sorrow for the others because of misfortunes they have faced. It is a human respond. Something problematic in the Balkans.

And for sure one does not need "a position" to pity someone, not even in order to have pity for those three parties.

What about "For a European..."? Well, admittedly it is worn jargon. Yes, sometimes even comical. But as I wrote before, I hope you don't need help to know what it means.

That's okay they'll take a plane instead, much faster. ;)

Since where at it which train are you talking about exactly? I'm not sure what you point (if you even have one) is. The article is about tri-party cooperation in the future elections, whenever that may be.

I'm not sure who you are or what you do but as far as I'm concerned your not in a position to pity anyone of those said parties.

And since you've "studied" so many headlines to know that "For a European..." is the norm these days why not list some up? I got one hit for Montenegro (staring the coke prince Đukanović) but that's all. Maybe you'll have better luck...

They may have their feet and boots on the ground but anyway, the train is gone.

Studying their behaviour makes me to think they have their heads on a railroad track.

If you bother to study headlines of many projects in EU countries you'll constantly find there use of phrases like "For European France" and "For European Poland" etc. I hope I don't have to tell you what they mean and what they don't mean.

Really Olli? I felt the same way when I heard of a group calling themselves "For a European Serbia" as if there's any other... Talk about comical. At least this group is starting with its feat on the ground unlike some others.

I'm simultaneously both amused and feeling some kind of pity for these people and their parties. They stand singing national anthem and voicing heavenly promises at the station -and no-one seems to care that the train is gone, already left yesterday.

Why amused? Because they have sense for Monty Python type of humour. They announce themselves advocating "a Serbia where the people will live free of political tension" Eh heh ooh, how utterly funny! Just waiting that the Radicals will join this pact...
