Ian, where did you get the information that Czech parliament agreed with Kosovo recognition? In fact parliament adopted declaration preventing government from doing so and I am pretty sure that once parliament would be the body deciding about recognition (which is unfortunatelly not pursuant to our constitution)kosovo wouldnot be recognised. Czech government after few tries recognised but the process of recognition would be finished by appointment of ambassador to Priština. This power is wested to president and Mr. Klaus of course refuses to do so. It means that legally regarded Czechia did not finished process of recognition yet.

The facts about "Czech" recognition of Kosovo:
1. The recognition was spelled by the present government, when the representatives of Civic Democrats (ODS) and the Green Party (SZ) voted for the declaration of recognition and the Christian Democrats (KDU-CSL) opposed it.
2. Had this issue being discused in the parliament, it would be overwhelmingly thrown away.
3. The first "free" foreign minister, Jiri Dienstbier, criticized this statement of government along with many other concerned public figures.
4. Most Czechs disaaprove of the government´s statement.
5. In the last regional elections, civic Democrats (ODS) suffered a terrible loss (of course, the Kosovo was not an issue there, but could be one of the contributing factors.)
Coclusion: The recognition of the independence of Kosovo happened against the will of the majority of both political forces and the public opinion.

You don't have to worry about it any more.
Decide what you want and don't be thrown by someone's else's moods.

It's rather depressing, what goes for ersatz news in Serbia these days. This figurehead visiting, spouting figurehead sentiments, being received by another almost-figurehead, spouting more figurehead talk, the two figureheads captured reviewing the gloved soldiers of a country which could not sate its appetite to ethnically clense its neighbors, and still cannot find tongue to talk sense with its neighbors... I grieve for the people condemned to live under such assisnine leadership. leaderships. At least the Czechs have a pragmatic government, and it is that government that will do things for that nation. What does Serbia have? It's the butt of the world's scorn. The imperfonification of refusal to compromise. It suits Serbs historically rather unwell. Time to reflect on this.

when are you guys gone get it. Kosova is here and here to stay. No one will revoke recognitions because that would show a weakness a in foreign policy that would make any country doubt any thing that the said country will do. No other goverment would take them seriosly. The Czechs are playing both ends against the middle. Comme on did you not learn anything from Tito. Act like you dont wnat too but you have too.. SO in conclusion get used to the fact that you will have no more albanians en mass to exterminate or opress(presevo is the exeption)..

The decision to recognize the fake mafia state of "Kosovo" is very unpopular in many countries, especially in Czech. It is only a matter of time and a few elections and these decisions will be promptly rescinded. The eventual decision by the ICJ that the Kosovo "independence" is illegal will lead to more states rescinding their recognitions. Time is on Serbia's side. Meanwhile Prishtina will be blocked from becoming a member of the UN or any other important international organization. I salute President Klaus for his courage and steadfast support for Serbia.

I think that Serbia should not join or be a candidate for the EU without recognizing Kosovo or even without sorting there issues and crimes first . Its just not fair for EU if Serbia a crime country joined and not fair for other states that have more rights then Serbia to join EU. Serbia isnt special.

If EU is that bad, why don;t they get out of it, and why did they join?

Oh, they like the free money they got and the free investments?

So what if Klaus disagrees with Czech recognition of Kosovo. I think its democratic that Czechia recognised Kosovo, because the majority of the parliament supported it, therefore making it fair and democratic.

“My disagreement with the Czech government’s decision to recognize Kosovo is well known. The case of Kosovo opened a Pandora’s Box and every country that recognizes Kosovo will have to know that it is responsible for that."

Well said and we all know the recognition came against the will of the Czech people. There will come a time when many of these unnatural recognitions are naturally revoked. It looks like the wave of recognitions to get Muslim and Islamic countries on side isn't going very well at all. There is lots of resistance in that camp and rightly so.

What a cheeky President!!!
Mr.President,if you had disaagreements with your government, why you didn't resigne to prove a point, rather then saying "everyone is bad and I am a good guy"!

Kosovo is a country now,we appreciate the help and support from Czech Republic and hopefully in the future we can repay them and others.

V. Klaus even does not preside anything in the EU - but in Serbia he already pretends to be an higher EU-representative.

But ... what is V. Klaus speaking about the EU outside Serbia ??

"The EU-representatives have no right, to take possession of Europe, but they are doing it permanently. Doing this ist the main problem of our time. (V.Klaus, 20.08.2008, taken from his own homepage)

I hope, Serbian journalists will ask V. Klaus about his ambivalent stance towards the EU, which has - by the way - brought more welfare to Czech Republic than the economical experts, which worked for the communistic regime until 1989. V.Klaus was such an high ranked expert.

It is obvious that Czechs will push for Serbia during their chairment of EU.

Befor their term starts they send their President to Serbia and only MF to Albania.
