Should Kosovar authorities be prepared to provide free electricity to the Serb population of Kosova for the sake of inter-ethnic relations?
These people have got themselves in a right pickle. On one hand they are paying uninterrupted subsidies to the Serb population that can only be described as early retirement, on the other they seem unhappy that Kosovar authorities are not reciprocating BG’s gestures by covering the rest of everyday expenditure.
This short sighted strategy of subsidies and free electricity is bound to create more trouble than it’s worth. Treating people in this way would significantly reduce their prospects of maintaining a viable life in Kosova. Ministry seems more concerned in making people dependable and ensuring political control, rather than coming up with constructive suggestions. Financial support should be a means to an end not an end in itself. It’s ridiculous to make the parallel between the survival of a people and supply of free electricity. It is insulting to the everyday struggles of millions.

Apparently Village bey did not read the primary post only what he could see what he or she wanted to see. The Serb Government would pay the bills for used power plus it would provide power for the enclaves plus the albanian homes near the enclaves. It is called assistance for people due to the constant power cuts. Of course like i said in my first post you would have folks talking our the side of there face or not understanding what is being written. Of course there will be static, just like the parliment members wanted to buy a car for all MP's plus a secretary. But of course the checks and balances installed by the EU concerning donated funds stopped that so now punish the non albanians in Kosovo. Hell i bet if the provided Massive Generator support the folks with out power would protest due to the noise it produce because the Serbs had power and they didn't. Kosovo still stuck in the middle ages. What a shame.

"since the authorities in Priština are somewhat politicizing or trying to abuse Belgrade's intentions to help".

“Serbia is ready to cooperate with UNMIK to overcome this problem, the minister said, however, "unfortunately, UNMIK is steering us to toward the temporary institutions, and at this moment we cannot speak to institutions that are trying to separate a part of Serbia's territory".

How are the Kosovo institutions politicizing or abusing belgrade’s help when Bogdanovic on the next paragraph says that he is willing to talk to only UNMIK? Stop being a hypocrite Mr. Bogdanovic and try to be constructive if you really want to help the K-Serbs and not just talk about it.

Kosovo Albanians are not treating K-Serbs any different then they are treating K-Albanians or any other minorities that live in Kosovo. There is an energy crisis in Kosovo and everyone is sharing the burden (K-Albanians, K-Serbs, K-minorities…everyone!). As a matter of fact, Kosovo is treating K-Serbs in a special manner since they are getting electricity for free since 1999 and they have not paid anything since then. So your statement is inaccurate and flawed.

Nine years after the war, things become more clear and Energy-(non)Supply is prooving it.
Albanians and UNMIK have not managed to make Kosovo a functioning country. Serbs have no incentives to live in this country. Albanians, despite difficulties do not wish to live with Serbia.
There can be nothing but partition of Kosovo.
Sooner or later everyone has to accept that.

Why should the Kosovo government interfer in Serbia wish to provide power for the Serbs in the enclaves is this such a big deal? I am sure some person without thinking will pipe up with some kind of Anti Serb rhertoric. The Kosovo Government should provide power to the albanians but not on the back of the Serbs. What a country. Eveyone has rights correct so why try and stop the serbs from providing power to the Enclaves. Let me guess we need permits give me a break.
