Members of the MUP riot police unit in Belgrade last night refused to patrol the streets, and cited exhaustion as the reason, reports suggested this Saturday.

John, if you have driven much in Serbia you would have encountered many policeman "enhancing" their pay packets by harrassing motorists. Also if the MUP is overworked why do they bother with pointless document checks of drivers ? They never even check cars have insurance. According to the big insurers several hundred thousand cars are not insured. Save your sympathy for the teachers and nurses.

If MUP starts any procedure against orginazers, assuming they are Police Union Representatives, then it will be very clear that Democracy does not exist in Serbia.Politicians get all kinds of perks, yet police do not even get paid OT hours anything beyond regular 40hrs per week.
