Holbrooke and Ashdown are right. Dodik is simply a less overtly crazy version of the SDS that preceded him and he seems happy to take Bosnia to the brink of another war. Ordinary people are able to get along and tolerate each other if their leaders had the courage to ask them to do so - the end of WWII shows that.
Bosnia has been around in roughly its current form since the C10-12th. RS has no historical, geographical or political precedent. It is simply an attempt to create a mono-ethnic (fascist) entity, which failed. Such an entity has no place in a modern Europe. Serbs in Bosnia are better off within a multi-ethnic state run by new, younger leaders (Not Haris or Dodik). Becoming a distant ghetto of Serbia is not much fun and would result in greater poverty and backwardness than we are even seeing today.
It is an historical fact that RS was built on genocide. It has no future, and if Lajcak wasn't so keen to get out he would be stopping Dodik from continuing to issue implied threats of violence to returnees and other non-Serbs.
I think we should all try to be responsible and avoid fanning the flames of conflict further. A war in Bosnia would not be pretty for anyone involved.
