One must remember how the French soldiers pretended to be friendly with the Kosovo Serbs, but then turned against them during Albanian rioting and allowed the Albanians to attack. Then afterward the French were hostile.

The French UN soldiers did the same during the war in Croatia, they secretly allowed Croats to attack without warning Serbs. After that the UN had to get a different nationality in that part of Croatia as the Croatian Serbs had no trust in them.

They play phony friends all the time. Why do Serbs keep falling for their act?

Governing Serbia will keep on beeing dificult. The extreme right wing is quite strong and a permanent danger to tear society appart, strongly draging Serbia from reforms or courageous positions for instance in the Kosovo-matter. Serb victims of the wars feel left behind, betrayed and seek their healing at fanatic nationalists positions. Only with good economic data and a better daily life they will reconsider their views. EU integration will not be easy. A political and social debate about mutual responsibility and an outlook on the future is needed badly. Serbs (of course other nations too)need to know what happened on their name, what's their responsibility, how should Serbia look like in ten years and is the politcal engagement going that way?

"Also, the US should not be involved in EULEX. If this is meant to show that Kosovo and Serbia's future is European it is wholly inappropriate to include non-EU actors. The EU has the skills and capability to do this on its own."

US and EU are one. Why do Serbs care anyway? What does it matter, it's just one more state among 27 others.

Serbia can;t tell EU to remove Feith or anyone. Ever thought that EU is playing good cop, bad cop, with Feith telling the truth and diplomats smoothing it out?

Serbia will get in EU when Kosova becomes a legal state with UN and will enter EU together so no they can't block each other

This is certainly a positive statement from France. However, if the ambassador is serious, then the EU needs to take some steps to show that the EU is willing to take an even handed approach to the question of Kosovo. For a start, even though it is separate from EULEX, which is headed by Yves de Kermabon, the EU need to get rid of Feith. As the EU's special representative he should be status neutral. However, as the head of the international civilian representative, charged with implementing the Ahtisaari proposals, he has been a strong advocate of independence. This is unacceptable.
