Why every time Serbia's ascension to the EU is mentioned you have this criticism of them? Serbia really is not far behind Romania, just look at the following stats to see:

BTW these are all the latest IMF statistics from 2008.

Serbia

GDP Growth - 8.2%
GDP per capita - $10 911
Inflation - 6.6%

Romania

GDP Growth - 5.4%
GDP per capita - $12,285
Inflation - 6.67%

Bulgaria

GDP Growth - 5.9%
GDP per capita - $12,252
Inflation - 12.5%

Sorry to say, but if Romania and Bulgaria got into the EU based on their economy, potential and fulfilled all the necessary criteria to get in, I don't see why Serbia (who is in the same category as I said before) cannot get into the EU. Anyway, Romania is the poorest country in the EU, I don't see why should be looking down on Serbia who is very similar economically.

Please tell me why you think Serbia should not join the EU, Romania and Bulgaria should.

Watch, they will end all duties and taxes on EU goods -- which are already low.

While the EU will charge duties and taxes on goods from Serbia at a rate higher then that paid for imports form places like Argentina, Iran, Bangladesh and so on.

This will do nothing but destroy our economy more. Someone should tell them that Free Trade is supposed to go two ways not one (i.e. if Serbia abolishes the duties and taxes for EU goods then the EU should do that for are goods).

Mircea, I disagree I don't think that Delic is fooling anyone with this nonsence.

B92- No reactions from opposition, critics economic experts were provided. Has B92 taken the position that this move is completely without critique of any kind?

If not, this serves as another infomercial of Belgrades bad economic policy. B92 used to be a voice of oposition.

Đelić added that he believed that Serbia would become an EU member after the transitional period of six years, which meant 2014.

Đelić is dreaming again. He is also fooling the people of Serbia.
