Feith! so what do you want for Serbia give up and recognized the UDI?? dont expect it to happen coz Serbia will never give up its historical right of Kosovo in what ever price and even the EU membership.

"Since there is no agreement within EU about Kosovo recognition, what kind of authority P.F. has to speak for all EU countries."

Technically, all you need is one. 21 out of 27 have recognized so far, including the top ones, france and Germany. What do you think will happen?

He may not be a diplomat, but it is all solved now since diplomacy is over. Independence is a reality, and Albanians will accept nothing less.

Feith, I assure you that Kosovo's "independence" is still a very open question before the UN, however closed you claimed the issue to be in the EU -- this itself a blatant lie as not all EU members have recognized Pristina yet or intend to do so anytime soon!

There are more and more signs and "messages" from the EU that the recognition of Kosovo by Serbia will be a condition of membership. It makes perfect sense. Any member or potential member has to effectively control its territory. Serbia was dragging its feet with many conditions until now loosing precious years. Who cares if with the recognition of Kosovo they will not progress for 20 or 30 years? Nobody will suffer but Serbia. Let them move at their very slow pace.

No Mr Faith you are wrong.
Indipendence is not closed deal.
Kosovans are having second thoughts about it. They miss the times when Serbian solders and militia went in their houses without warning and destroyed what was inside. It was so much fun you know. They miss the beatings, killings, massgraves, burned houses and on and on and on. They are actually nostalgic of the time when they had to live in camps in Albania and Macedonia not knowing if they were going to get home ever again.(I saw them with my own eyes first days when they were crossing the border in tears in 99. Shame). They do remember it all cos I remember it and I am not from Kosovo and I did not go through that thank god.
So whatever ICJ, no ICJ it does not matter. One thing though. Kosovans are going to make sure that those things mentioned above wont happen again. Te only way to do that is: To make sure no soleder, militia or police from Serbia gets into Kosovo ever. And believe me they are going to make sure of that. So talk is cheap.

Before sending any comment it's worth to see P.F. curriculum and decide:

- does he really represent European Union civil politics or he is rather a NATO "refugee" within EU
- is his carrier focused on civil or military matters

Since there is no agreement within EU about Kosovo recognition, what kind of authority P.F. has to speak for all EU countries.

There is a saying:

"If a diplomat says 'yes', that means 'maybe'"
"If a diplomat says 'maybe', that means 'no""
"If a diplomat says 'no', that means he is not a diplomat"

Judge for yourself:

"Pieter Feith said that Kosovo’s independence is a closed question that cannot be negotiated any further."

"Serbia will not close the question of Kosovo, neither will it stop moving towards EU membership. In due time, the people who will have to change their minds are those EU politicians who are exercising the heavy hand."

No one but Albanians can change their mind, and they aren't about to, not after 10,000 died and saw all that destruction. Never again. EU of course is not going to either, they want peace and stability in thee Balkans and they have realized the mistakes thy made in 1912. with Albanian lands and by accepting Cyprus.

“All the EU member states that have recognised Kosovo independence will - eventually - demand that Serbia follows suit, when it [Serbia] is ready to join the EU,” the official added. “No one wants to have another Cyprus case.”

"Dusan Janjic, head of Serbia’s Forum for Ethnic Relations, said recognition of Kosovo was implied by the rules of EU membership. One stipulation is that every applicant state must control the whole of its territory “with Cyprus being the exception”. "

Hello,

Mr. Feith's comments are irresponsible and laughable to say the least. What a joke! He's threatening the Serbs with not being able to integrate into the EU if they keep fighting for what is rightfully their's. With this said....what does the EU stand for. Serbian sovereignty and territotrial integrity has been breached. Instead of promoting the European backing of a European nation they have once again brought shame to the EU by bringing the rest of Europe to their collective knees infront of the imperalist American Gov't. With this said why should the Serbs even want to join the EU if their interests won't be backed by the major EU countries such as France, Germany etc etc?

Bob

pre 15 godina

The issue of independence is not a closed question - all this man is doing is trying to undermine Serbia joining the EU.

Serbia will not close the question of Kosovo, neither will it stop moving towards EU membership. In due time, the people who will have to change their minds are those EU politicians who are exercising the heavy hand. They will not be able to work against the people of Serbia forever - Serbia's move towards the EU is more powerful than they are.

In the meantime, EULEX does not have a legal mandate and it is working against the spirit of 1244. It is a puppet and should have its strings cut off now.
