we shall see on the 8th. sorry i cannot be at the vote.

if the tadic/jeremic regime win the vote, we just continue the struggle, per usual. if the tadic/jeremic regime loses, we celebrate our victory, then continue the struggle. same old, same old, but as long as intl troops remain "in the neighborhood," their troops (and "frnds") cannot return in force, to stir up trouble and worse.

freedom is not easily won but the struggle is worth it.

eventually (we hope) blgd will want EU more than clubbing Kosovo/a. then there will be a change. but not yet...

cheers!

While we are waiting for the GA, here's an interesting little tidbit from Seoul:

EA:
The 'bottom line' is that K-albanians had no reason to compromise in negotiations when the US said 'we will recognise if negotiations fail by 'such-and-such' a date.

I am sorry for you especially when you feel that "it was all just lip service with a predetermined outcome talking about the negotiation process.
The problem we have got is that you identify the international law with Serbian law and Serbia's interest. I am preatty sure that you know very well the roots of the war in Kosova as we have discussed the issue here many times. Kate the bottom line is if a country exercises terror on his "own" people that risk to lose these people and the territory. I can not be more honest than that.
(EA, 5 October 2008 23:09)

I belive you when you say that you cannot be any more honest than that, for if you were you would not have an argument.

EA, when are you going to stop putting words in people's mouths? Kate never said that international law was Serbia's law.
If's a good tactic though. Twist someone's words and they will be forced to defend their statement while not having the opportunity to put facts forward.
You certainly know the old saying well. "The best form of defence is offence".
Attack Kate by twisting her words and she will be disarmed.
Too bad for you, we are very aware of this tactic and won't bite.
When you have a real argument do come back and present it.

Led by the US, the 'international community' only ever saw independence as the eventual outcome. They just seem to have forgotten that international law exists and problems aren't that easy to solve in someone else's country.

That was the funniest story of the day.

EA: "How much effort did the international community spent with both side to find a compromise solution?"

Virtually none. It was all just lip service with a predetermined outcome and totally biased towards the Kosovo Albanians.

EA,

Your chief ally, the US, is in turmoil. You are the last of their concerns. Do you not know that when gambling, you should always spread your bets. You should have taken a leaf out of Serbia's book. It has been courting countries across the world. Oh well it's time to bring a close to the tragic Kosovo saga. Kraljevic Marko is on the horizon. Can you hear his galloping horse?

He also repeated that "the goal of this initiative is to bring the sides in the Kosovo status crisis back to the negotiating table", but also to in the meantime freeze further recognitions of the ethnic Albanians' declaration.
Kosova status back to the negotiating table? He is having a laugh DEFENETELY or he might be making fool of himself. How much effort did the international community spent with both side to find a compromise solution? How much time did President Ahtisari spent to bring both parties on bord? Serbia's intention was purely to frustrate the Albanians about the Status and there will always be a disagreement about the Status of Kosova between the two parties. Kosova independence from Serbia as a NEW REALITY that Serbia didn't give up voluntarily. That how it is I am afraid and we all know the history of the conflict. Let's move on and encourage the Serbs and Albanians to move forward to the common EU.
