"Jat crying out for strategic partner"

IZIT experts believe that Serbia needs to find a strategic partner for JAT Airways as soon as possible, as otherwise, the airline could go under.

Actually JAT's short term future is ok. The problem is that the rolling stock is coming to the end of its natural life.

It is even theoretically possible for the government to purchase the rolling stock, although expensive. But of course the government is afraid of how the people would react, obviously the budget would be affected greatly and there would be cuts.

But Duro is right, JAT should have been sold 3 or 4 years ago when conditions were right. Having said that its a classic case of not wanting to sell the national silver (sentimental) and then the whole company goes under when its too late.

And lets not forget the Milosevic - Airbus deal for a new fllet either. Millions wasted...

The analysts is right. JAT should have already been privatized as well as some other companies but as usual "srpska posla" as we would say for always being late. All I can say is JAT is really in it now...

You are doomed if you do and doomed if you don't. The small Central European airlines have difficult years ahead.

They will drop most of their attractive destinations soon and I am afraid, it will include LHR.

What I would like to know is how can JAT go under when it is state owned? When I was last in Belgrade I was told it can't but I'm still reluctant to buy my London/Belgrade return tickets too far in advance.
