Joe says..."Also, since you enjoy yourself in Belgrade and don't share the daily problems of millions of Americans I am just wondering why the outcome of the US election is so important for you?"

The same question could be asked of you, Joe.
While you enjoy yourself in your gated community in the USA, and don't share the daily problems of the people in the Balkans, why do you stick your nose in their business?

Seems rather hypocritical.

Marco,

What Biden said to to the National Guard Association:

"If you want to know where Al Qaeda lives, you want to know where Bin Laden is, come back to Afghanistan with me, come back to the area where my helicopter was forced down, with a three-star general and three senators at 10,500 feet in the middle of those mountains. I can tell you where they are."

He did not say, his helicopter was forced down because of Al Qaeda, he says, his helicopter was forced in the place where Al Qaeda does thrive.

Al Qaeda being in the mountains of rural Afghanistan is what most people including Biden himself PRESUME to be correct, so he was a "journalistic" here, but not dishonest. (It's an other question, what REALLY that "almighty" Al Quaeda is, and what is the likely truth about 9/11)

The 1. + 2. are of course pretty pathetic. I do not expect Biden to be better, than what the "negative selection process" of American politicians does produce. But Sarah Palin as born-again hillbilly is definitly worse.

We are voting here not "good" versus "bad", but "acceptable" versus "awful".

Gary Thison called Sarah Palin a "gun toting, moose eating, caribou shooting, hypocritical, religious fanatic MILF". This is not far from the reality. Imagine her becoming the president of USA.

The fact of the matter is that both McCain and Biden advocated the occupation of Serbia during the bombardment of 1999. The main difference being that Biden refered to his plan as a german/japanese style occupation. Further to this Biden gaffes are far worse than any stumbling of Palin's experience as Russia's neighbour; his recent claims of being shot at in the green zone in Iraq
and having his helicopter downed because of Al Qada in Afganstan may have been designed to make people forget that he recieved five medical deferments to stay out of Viet Nam, yet appears to be in good health.

other gaffes of Bidens include:

1. (Obama is) "the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean”.

2. "When the stock market crashed (in 1929), Franklin Roosevelt got on the television and didn't just talk about the princes of greed. He said, 'Look, here's what happened'." -FDR was not the president in 1929 and No One had a Tv!

- The daily problems of Americans are shared by the rest of the world. And pardon me, I am American (as well) and I am going to vote even if small, green agim thacis will rain down in Belgrade downtown.

- I agree, many of current problems will be around for some years, but let's hope it will be better. Hope dies last.

- I have no idea what Russia being democratic or not has to do here. You know my opinion.

- If you say about what I wrote is a "common knowledge", than you no longer support the Palin/McCain duo and I have nothing to add for you.

Ataman,

All what you write is pretty common knowledge, so I don't know why you waste your time with your essay.
Also, since you enjoy yourself in Belgrade and don't share the daily problems of millions of Americans I am just wondering why the outcome of the US election is so important for you? No matter who wins most of the current problems will be around for at least 4 years.
I think you are so interested because of your dear "democratic" Russia and the future relations with that dear country.

I simply can't believe the number of people who support the selection of Sarah Palin for VP. She is unequivocally unqualified for the job.

As an American I'm frightened and appalled. As a comedian, I love it!

This long essay is mainly for Hungarian-American Joe, who supports McCain because of the "tough" stance against Russia, but could be intersting for others. The main source was WIKI (supposed to be independent).

As far as I see: Palin is potentially only one "cancer complication away" from becoming a president of USA. She was mildly speaking unconvincing so far. Her fundamentalism is a question and her honesty (didn't she say, she is proud her son is going to serve in Iraq? What mother she is?) is an other question.

Otherwise a "nice" person (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sarah_Palin)

1) A lifetime member of the National Rifle Association (NRA)
2) She supports capital punishment
3) Palin supports allowing the discussion of creationism in public schools
(hello, it's 21st Century!)
4) Opposes same-sex marriage
5) Supported a non-binding referendum for an Alaskan constitutional amendment to deny state health benefits to same-sex couples (a very "Christian" move, IMO...)
6) Palin has called herself "as pro-life as any candidate can be" ("pro-life" seem to go well along with capital punishment!). She believes that abortion should be banned in nearly all cases, including rape and incest
7) Has promoted oil and natural gas resource exploration in Alaska, including in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge
8) Palin supports preemptive military action in the face of an imminent threat (but apparently, only American one, how about Russian preemptive military actions?)

She was until age of 38 ( = till 2002) a member of Wasilla Assembly of God church, which belongs to a Pentecostal association of churches.

As it is written in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pentecostalism

"Pentecostals believe that in order to receive salvation and enter Heaven one must accept the teachings of Jesus Christ as described in the Bible. This includes the being born again or regeneration and is the fundamental requirement of Pentecostalism."

Of course the McCain campaign told CNN that Palin "doesn't consider herself Pentecostal" (happened of course after the Republican National Convention).

My conclusion so far: an other "born again" hillbilly, not bright, liar, but can exploit her good looks politically. Bush would pale (sorry for pun) in comparison with her - if she would become a president.
